Steve Jobs dead at 56

Quite expected, sadly. Rest in peace. Smartphones have changed many lives in so many ways. To quote Gizmodo,

He was the reason many of us got into this industry, or even care about technology at all. He made the computer personal, and the smartphone fun. Bill Gates may have put a computer on every office desk, but it was Steve Jobs who put one in every dorm room and bedroom and living room. And then, years later, he repeated the trick, putting one in every bag and every pocket, thanks to the iPad and iPhone. If you use a computer or smartphone today, it is either one he created, or an imitation of his genius.

Wow...even the president sent his regards? Man, Jobs has truly left an everlasting mark. May he rest in peace. He certainly deserves some, as well as the family.

Apple will be fine without Jobs. he hasnt been the CEO of Apple since like April when he decided to step down (because he knew he was sick) he was still apart of like the Cabinet of Apple if you will, but ya, he hasnt headed Apple for half the year.

still sad to see him go. this doesnt mean ill buy an Apple product though...still. condolences.

We knew it was coming but it's still a damn shame. I've never much liked Apple or it's products, but Jobs made a huge contribution to the industry and IT in general, may he rest in peace.

People should also remember that he did not just create the i stuff.

Apple computers were a much bigger deal then all of the iphones and whatever. Microsoft was helped quite a bit by Steve Jobs and apple, and I doubt MS could of gotten too far without them.

Just heard about it. Very sad and unexpected.

Sad, yes, but definitely not unexpected. It was pretty obvious over the last year or so that he had become gravely ill and wasn't going to survive for long. When he resigned back in August I already knew that he knew it was over.
