If you do it for pc both here and bethesdas site and the xbox and ps4 no one can steal it. Or can it still be stolen somehow?I hope this gets fixed, it would suck if people stoped modding or delete their mod because of this. All these mods are what makes these games so awesome! The Vampire Dante wrote: Sounds like a simple solution when presented, but the biggest issue that that not everyone has the time, patience or desire to upload and maintain their work at multiple sites.Plus, some just prefer one site over another, and refuse to use the ones they dislike. There are also still people that create their entire mods without using the Creation Kit or using any Beth content at all. Evantyr
In response to post #40297735. The Vampire Dante wrote: Well modding would fall under derivative works, so yeah Bethesda owns your mods. Despite their own documentation where they state that they do not own them, the author does and that Bethesda just has a clause to make use of them?AND lets not forget that about 60-75% of the mods on the nexus havent been done in bethesda software, other than the game itself. FO4Edit and FO4SExtender AARE NOT Bethesda software. That would be like 3DS Max/Maya stating they own a part of every game ever becasue the models were made in 3DS Max/Maya. Or Microsoft owning any document ever written in word, or being privy to any and all information in a excel spreadsheet.Lets be honest, Bethesda F***ed up. Just like the paid modding fiasco, which Robin is right , it is on its inevitable return. Bethesda does well at giving people what they want (mostly, the map size thing with FO4... yea. It may be as big as skyrim without the un-passable mountains, BUT NOW ITS EMPTY WATER GUYS! AND A LOT OF FREAKIN OPEN, EMPTY, MOBLESS, TREASURELESS, SCENERYLESS BLOODY WATER!I mean, they do their research. They know what we want. They jsut give it to us wrong. Like i wanted a strawberry bush in a planter, and what i got was Roots in the air and a dead strawberry bush in the dirt.Anywho, lets bloody hope that they dont start making it hard and harder for non-bethesda uploaders/mods to work. I'm almost afraid they are gonna try to force the entire modding world into paid and regulated by locking the game up for any 'non-beth-authorized mods'... and thats a world i dont want to live in as a learning modder and long-term mod consumer(Wording?). WinterWolverine
just signed up today and was checking everything out, not sure what I'm doin lol but after reading this... I feel wrong for interacting due to being an xbox player. didn't know any of this. I know it won't fix anything but on behalf of the worst of xbox gamers I'm really sorry you all have had to deal with this. We weren't told anything about mods (not how to place or use them nor any info at all) we don't get told or have any way of knowing if anything is stolen etc... due to not seeing comments on our xbx's we can't even see if someone says it's stolen. most of us are just excited and dwnld anything just to see what it is lol (doesn't need a description... silly I know) I joined to see if I could fig out how to get mods to my xbox... but I don't feel right asking now. Oh well at least I get to look and see what unfortunately I'll prob never have... that said I think what you all do is awesome even if I can't enjoy, the creativity and talent is fabulous. I wish I knew how myself. If I shouldn't be commenting just remove this (I'm sorry) but love what I've seen of the site. maybe someday we won't think in terms of my vs your community but till then I'll frustratingly watch and wait. ~thoughts of a mad mind ~ KM aka Winter. Since it is very evident that mod authors are allowed to be as toxic as they want without consequence. dante8511
Anyone without the need of being a conspiracy freak knows why as the OP stated the phrase "father coming back" means. Bethesda will do anything in their power to shut down anything outside beth.net so they can monetize mods and not share the cake with Valve/Steam while also stay away from the steam community backlash and drama that this will create, they came back for money like any company, and when the debacle over the paid mods is taken out of the dark room where they storage it they will be shielded away from it, safe on their own walled garden. This being of course the reason they couldn't monetize them in the first place. Now with their own, still crappy but functional site, being online as the first step they will totally go for it. matortheeternal
Page 100! I'm amazed this thread is still getting a trickle of posts. I wonder when the next update will be on Bethesda.net. I've heard surprisingly little the last few weeks. Doesn't help that my nose is to the grindstone, but I'm still surprised.

eventHandler
Multi-step solution to Bethesda's modding problems: 1. NexusMods add an option for "Bethesda approved/disapproved" on mods. By default, mods are neither tag, and all current policies apply as normal. 2. Allow Bethesda to appoint their own moderators with the sole power of being able to apply a tag to mods "approved" (for mods they officially want to bother supporting) or disapproved (for mods violating their site rules on content). These moderators have an official title on the forums/profiles indicating they are Besthesda appointed and not Nexus moderators (they have no forum moderating power, except the ability to post/control an official Bethesda thread). 3. NexusMods disallowed from removing mods tagged "approved" for any reason without Bethesda first authorizing the removal, since Bethesda has interest in those mods being available. This means legal complaints on "approved" mods have to be handled by Bethesda, but NexusMods can handle any complaints on both untagged and "officially disapproved" mods. This step is to avoid any legal grey area and/or any NexusMods staff interference with Bethesda's official marketing and/or other goals. 4. Make the site by default only show mods that have not been put on Bethesda's blacklist, i.e. mods with no tag or mods tagged approved. The front page has Bethesda markings and clearly indicates you are using the Bethesda censored version. 5. Registered users can enable all mods similar how nsfw mods work now, which most "disapproved" mods will likely be because they are nsfw. There is a lengthy Terms of Service etc that must be checked before doing so, and mods they disapprove of still have a prominent tag somewhere on the mod's page. There is also a footer on every page now that reminds you Bethesda may or may not approve of the content of anything on the site since you are using evil mirror universe version and a button to go to censored land to make them happier. (This all has to be at least a little bit of a nuisance to people wanting uncensored mods or their legal people would never approve). 6. Bethesda redirects their links/creationkit to NexusMods. 7. Bethesda pays NexusMods all of the money they are spending on Bethesda.net ...or they at least cover the bandwidth on mods they haven't blacklisted. Some kind of cloud sharing between Nexus and Bethesda, where mods seamlessly shift from Bethesda to NexusMods servers if they are black listed by Bethesda. So in this limited scenario, the Nexus links always work, but upon blacklisting the mods disappear from Bethesda.net and the bandwidth/space costs go back to Nexus. The average Nexus user will never notice which servers/bandwidth they are getting the mods from, and since the bulk of the mods aren't going to be censored (especially the big overhaul ones that take a lot of bandwidth), Nexus stands to save a lot of money. The problem is that no-doubt Bethesda would try to integrate their pay-for-mods push onto Nexus with their leverage they'd feel they had if Nexus in any way was bound to them. Nexus would definitely need lawyers to work up the exact terms of any deals, and always have redundancy backups of mods so Bethesda can't extort them down the road. Not that any of these ideas are going to happen, but I always plan for the worst in my dreaming.
