moho25
i should ask, are you making mods being saved and viewed for anyone who is looking for them? as in way to prevent the files from being lost? We have archives of the site, just in case. This archive will not be available for download. The only way to prevent files from being lost is to prompt the mod author to upload them elsewhere. moho25
@Inventoriers -- Finally was able to touch base with Nexus on a few things, so there have been some changes to the spreadsheets. 1. Builder-to-Builder files/Modder's Resources.Nexus is comfortable with the existing "implied" permissions for these assets, and they can be uploaded to Nexus. That said, it would be nice to keep all files associated with a mod together. So, before uploading this files, always try to prompt the mod author to uploading the entire project, first. If the author can't be reached after multiple attempts and a decent length of time, then it's okay to upload these assets. When uploading, the "mod" should be categorized as a "Modders Resource". If this category doesn't yet exist on Nexus for the relevant game, you'll have to "submit" the category and get Nexus to add it. 2. Other types of Permission.Nexus is also okay with less formal permissions or permissions given on other sites, as long as there is documentation. So, if the modder says in the comments that they don't mind if their assets are used for other mods, or if the modder states something similar on another site (and it is 100% certain they are the same person), then these mods may be uploaded. Keep screenshots for documentation. 3. New Spreadsheet columns for Nexus Issues. Each game has two new columns. These are for various issues related to porting the mod to Nexus, where feedback from Nexus staff is necessary. Please be sparing with this and only use it as a last resort, as they are busy. It might be a permission gray area, a mod that exists on both sites but has different files/versions, or something of that sort. Place a very brief description of the issue into the "Nexus Issues" column. SirSalami (I think), will respond in the "Nexus Response" column as his time allows. Please be patient. 4. New Description Attribution and BCN Info. When uploading any mod on behalf of an author, we should have a consistent credit area at the bottom of the description. I've embedded the text into the spreadsheet; here it is again for reference: This mod was originally hosted on the BioWare Social Network (BSN) and has been ported with explicit or implied permission from the original author as part of the BioWare Continuity Network (BCN) Inventory Project. If you are the original author of this mod and you consider this upload an error, please contact us via our Nexus thread and we'll have the page removed immediately.Attaching this info to every mod we upload clearly defines that mod as part of this project effort, helps attribute it to the original author, and also provides the necessary contact info in case there are any miscommunications. It would probably be a good idea to copy and paste the message into an area convenient for you as the inventorier, and insert the proper bbcode info for URLs so that there are embedded links to the BCN web page and the Nexus thread. From there, then it can be copied and pasted into the code view for any description you create. @Creeper -- I know it's going to be a pain to go back through and insert this into all 28 or whatever mods you uploaded for that one modder, but please do so. ---- I think that's it. Let me know if you have any questions
Tarshana
Thank you for this info, you rock :D I have another holiday weekend coming up so I can keep inventorying. Thank you Nexus admins/mods for helping us with this project! @Creeper - if you are swamped for time and need help let me know. I can dive into this weekend. gondracorn
Hi guys! I'm new here, but I could be a key member in this project of yours (unless it's finished already, then, way to go!). The bioware forums are still up, and it's about 12 days into the making. I am planning on getting 16 TB of storage to backup all of my own files on, but I should have at least 4 TB of data storage left. If you need any storage space (up to 4TB estimate), please, get in touch with me and I'll see what I can do. Otherwise, keep up on the good work! Tarshana
Thanks :) The BSN legacy projects, public polls/posts are all downloaded and Fextralife has forum scraped everything except ME2. If you have any posts or have ever signed up on BW forums you can pop into Fextralife and make a post there to keep your posts under your name. It is always a grand idea to keep backups :D
Thandal
"fextralife" is nothing but a collection of stolen content, grabbed by the worst kind of internet thieves. The arrogance and hypocrisy displayed by a site which forbids anyone from copying its content and re-posting it, (check the Terms of Service if you don't believe me) but does the exact same thing to others without any permission whatsoever, is truly astounding. They even refuse to remove content an author has explicitly requested to be deleted. The gall.
Tarshana
I understand your concerns. There are options for people who want to find information, I have given what info I have, and more important Moho has written a very good blog article on all the sites who have stepped up. Other content sites are using pro-boards in which you sign away content rights there, too. There was not room for a lot of planning people are doing what they can to help. I have no idea about content not being deleted... I just weeded out 15 posts by players who wished not to be on Fextra and deleted them. I cannot help with knowledge before this situation, sorry :sad:Edit: 15 not 150.
Thandal
It's not a "concern". I'm simply calling thieves... thieves. I find their actions reprehensible and refuse to support or endorse the use of other people's content without permission. If they don't like it, all they have to do is stop posting content to which they have no right.
moho25
That's unfortunate to hear about Fextralife. I'm not at all familiar with the site. Just to be clear, this project isn't related to that site or any other. They are their own community and do their own thing. We're just some random BW game modders that decided to try to make sure a bunch of mods weren't lost before authors had any chance to take action  Edited September 6, 2016 by moho25
