I would like to suggest a revamp of the rules for the chatroom. To make them more clear and less vague.

This is my suggestion of what I think it should look like.

Text included in () Is what I am thinking.

Chat Rules

You must agree to the following rules to continue...

The site's Terms of Service (Yes, I know that link is in the right hand corner, but when you do this they will have no excuse for missing it.) also apply to the chat room. ( Included chatroom to your Terms of Service to make this statement official also would avoid confusing newcomers and arguments by unruly members who want to say "Chatroom is not in the Terms of Service.")

Here's a couple of pointers:

(Bold and underline is necessary to making sure someone sees what they are agreeing to.)

* Please NO talk of piracy. Torrented games, movies, ect...

* Please DO NOT spam the chat.

* Please DO NOT provide links to sites that contain copyrighted material unlawfully or otherwise Not Safe For Work content (Not Safe For Work content is a very vague deffination of what you do not want people to post. I suggest a rating. For example this is a PG-13 rated chat please keep it that way.)

* Please DO NOT act like this is the chatroom for 4chan / Something Awful forums / some other chat room or forum you visit that lets you get away with X, Y and Z (I think this needs to be changed. Not everyone knows what these websites are or what content they might contain. So telling them not to act like something they have never seen or been to will confuse the member.)

*Please message a member of staff if you think the chat is getting out of hand. Members of staff are identified by their green or red names.

* Please realize all the chat is logged, even when no staff are in the chat room.

One suggestion I would like to offer is tweaking how the File of the Month list works. It's intended to list the top five voted-upon files, but I see an issue in the case of ties.

For example, yesterday there was a four-way tie for third place on the File of the Month list, with four different files having five votes apiece. Because of the way the list works, only three of these were displayed. My mod was, unfortunately, the fourth one :)

My suggestion would be to tweak the File of the Month format so that:

(1) In the case of a tie for first to fifth place, the extra files are also displayed.

(2) A limitation should be placed on how many votes are necessary before tied files are displayed. For example, there is no point in displaying files that are tied at 0 or 1 vote.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but i just want to say that i love your site! I just bought a new computer that can handle gaming, and its been quite an experience seeing how people put so much effort and time into creating mods for games that have died out on consoles. The mods that the community has hosted and the excellent organization that your site puts forth has given these old games new life in a way that develepors never did or would. I've downloaded mods for games such as TES IV, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV; all with great support from the publishers of the mods. I've never had any technical issues I could not resolve, but all the others who had issues were attended to quickly and in a patient and polite manner. The countless hours of playtime this site has added to my games really gives me a sense of fullfillment. I am seriously considering becoming a lifetime donor, I just have never found another site quite like this! Keep the great work coming, and a big Kudos to all the developers, admin, and anyone else who makes this site run as it is! Thanks a bunch guys!

I have Mcafee on my system and it reports "McAfee TrustedSource web reputation analysis found potential suspicious behavior on this site which may pose a security risk. Use with caution." about Blacktreegaming.com

is this a false report? does Mcafee need to update?

or is there a security risk with this site?

Thank you for any update

I don't have McAfee on my system, I use a different anti-virus system. However it does look like this is possibly a scam, where do you normally update McAfee from? As a general rule, I find it useful to update my anti-virus daily, but then I use it on a daily basis.

McAfee on my system said it was a risk, so I went to McAfee web site and searched for black tree gaming and it took me to their site advisor, so I just posted the link to the McAfee site advisor

Annoyances from blacktreegaming.com:

Reviewer and Web site owner comments

If it's not from that episode involving hacked ads (not something the site has any control over) it was likely the same sorts of stuff as the person who reported that "Reviewer and Web site owner comments" comment. Goes to show that McAfee just isn't up to date or reliable.

A better source would be Web of Trust (WOT) since it's an open platform and is transparent as to who or what the "problems" are.

McAfee might also just be upset because I often slam them for being such a crappy service package... If so, just shows how petty they are.
