Yep, and VaporWatch nailed it, entitlement. I also smell the stench, makes me sick.

That, and it's a false dichotomy anyway. Even the earliest online communities – e.g., the WELL, MindVox, Illuminati Online, and later (like around 2000) Tribe, DeviantArt, the original MySpace, etc. – were/are all online communities and also businesses, and they've all understood the difference between "my personal opinion and tone" postings and official messaging tone, in different posts by the same persons. Ironically, about 99% of of the Nexus posting I was slightly critical of IS written in business tone; it just veered oddly into informal venting in one place. So all the defensive "I hate businessy writing" responses above are technically far more critical of the message, without realizing it, than I ever was. >;-)

The idea that I'm only thinking in terms of "business" and not understanding "community" is a silly and very mistaken attempt at magical mind-reading. Coincidentally, only a few minutes ago I sent a request to Nexus's admins that they change the mod posting/management system to not permit mod uploaders to disable both the Posts and the Forum features at the the same time on any mod, since it interferes with the ability of the community to act as a community (in posting compatibility observations and so on, to help other users). I'm the furthest thing from non-community-minded, and have been involved in online community building since the late 1980s on BBS systems, FidoNet, UseNet, and (since 1992 or so) the Web, i.e. before the majority of you were even born, I would wager. I'm part of THIS community too (e.g., I've done more mod testing and workaround debugging for OpenMW than anyone else on the planet), yet I'm having rocks thrown at me like an interloper, all because of "you do not think exactly as I do, therefore you are an enemy" cliqueish nonsense.

The implicit assumption that "is critical of being talked down to like a naughty 12-year-old facing a grumpy parent" equates to "not community-minded" is absurd. There's simply no relationship between the concepts at all. All that's going on here are two different sets of expectations about organizational communication. Having one expectation versus the other doesn't make this any less of a "place to hang out with friends, share our toys, (and stories) and generally have a good time", but demonizing someone as "un-community" just because you disagree with them about something trivial sure does.

I'm counting the posts from people disagreeing with Darklocq's opinion and attitude. I'm counting the posts from people agreeing with them. The results appear to be more than a little one-sided. Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like the community has spoken fairly clearly.

I also noticed that Darklocq's most recent post was made a week after asking why people were still talking about this a week after the first one, and telling us to "get over it". I found that humorous.

And I had to laugh when I read the part about wanting the Nexus to restrict what mod authors can do regarding their own mods Another example of "just not getting it".

Good day all .

I now will apologies in advance for all the noob questions, I will ask .

How long will we still be able to use Nexus Mod Manger , before vortex becomes a mandatory mod manger ?.

If I switch from NMM to Vortex now, will I be able to transfer my existing mods from NMM to Vortex?.

Thank you .

Q.1 - (a) If you manually download mods, you can use NMM forever, provided you keep it updated. Although Nexusmods no longer updates NMM (except for security features), there is a github.com site where DuskDweller provides continuing updates for NMM. (b) If you use NMM to download mods, you can probably still continue to use NMM, provided DuskDweller incorporates the latest security updates.

Q.2 - Vortex can import all of your NMM mods without disturbing your existing NMM setup. If you don't like Vortex, you can revert to your original NMM setup. However, if you do wish to import to Vortex, first backup everything as a safety measure.

I for one am very happy that Tannin has come up with this manager. I have been able to import all the mods from MO2, install multiple mods at one time, and activate said mods at one time. This is the best manager I have seen/used to date. Kudos to Tannin on his tireless skills and knowledge. Wish I had stayed in programming when I had the chance.

sorry, been busy...

look, my DL also tops a 1.1MB, so your reasoning is wrong.
if the 900kB is the new 1MB cap, how come I also get 1.1MB

sorry, the average cap is 10% lower than it was with NMM, or that was also a lie ?

Is it safe to delete the all content of the "downloads" folder (outside of vortex main dir) after I'm done setting up and deploying the mods I want? I want to do that to save space on my ssd but I'm worried this would cause issues in deploying or updating mods in the future.

You can set it to where your downloads are on a different drive than your installed mods. That way the downloads are on HDD, but it'll install to SSD with the game. Edited by ThatDirtyShisno
