rmm200
Is it possible the installer depends on the "Stable" or "Testing" tag, and this build does not have one?Well, a counter to that is 0.15.4 installed just fine for me.
Tannin42
Stable releases have never had a tag, I don't know where this suddenly comes from. There is only one binary flag: testing yes/no, that has never been different. Now regarding the OP: Have you seen this post: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6687332-updating-to-vortex-0151/Sounds like the same issue. sopmac45
In my case, it is the contrary ... I just logged into Vortex and it was already updated to the latest one ..... I do not know if this is normal ... .... yesterday when I logged in, the window popped out asking me to update but I did not do it and today Vortex has been automatically updated to version 0.15.4 ... Tannin42
Vortex updates automatically. The prompt just says that the update has been downloaded and you can restart at that point to do the update but if you don't it will just update whenever you quit vortex. Tannin42
I disagree. Having to deal with old versions costs us time, I still get bug reports from alpha releases that are several months old that I have to process. That is despite the "forced" update. Also, if we "allow" users to stay on old versions we have to consider that when we do changes to the backend. And it fractures the community, meaning new versions get less testing, helping takes longer ("what version are you using? Does your version have feature xyz?") and so on. This is time we can't put into new features or fixing bugs. There is a substantial cost connected to this kind of choice that slows development and we believe that is not a good trade-off.

OT, but...This kind of thing is what drove Web designers nuts for a very long time, because people refused to update from WIndows XP so they insisted on using Internet Explorer 6, which was incompatible with the W3C standards for just about everything, which meant that web designers had to make two versions of their websites, one for all the normal working updated web browsers, and one for IE6.It was a real PITA
Grestorn
But still, everyone is complaining about Steam auto updating every game... And you all know that there's a very good reason for those complaints. There's just no right or wrong. I can understand both sides. If it wasn't too much of a hassle, I'd implement a compromise: Allow the latest two versions to be used. Older version could just refuse or pop up a real nuisance message.
