Bernt
Just a crazy thought that got stuck. How big are those cans of Mr Handy fuel? 1 gallon....... 2 gallons........? They are pressure tanks and made of steel. I know that. But it doesn't say on the labels how many pounds/ounces/gallons it holds.
HeyYou
It looks a LOT like the 20 pound propane tanks we have for our grill. :)
Fkemman11
I like finding those for some reason. Seems like some cool things out to be able to run off of them. Does the motorcycle mod use them? The other things I like to find are anything aluminum- you can never have too much of that! BTW is there any kind of immersive building mod? It seems so far fetched that my character "just knows" everything about plumbing, electrical, carpentry, metal working and so on. I've been thinking of making a mod where what you can build on your own is limited and you need to find and hire people to build more complicated things in your settlements. Deleted54170User
I'm curious about how many times Mr. Handy had to go to Concord to get refills. If the tank is like a propane tank they are refillable. 210+ years is a long time. It's hard to believe that Mr. Handy was able to run on one spare tank all those years. Mr. Handy mentioned to our vault dweller the conditions of Concord like he visited there regularly.
joemitchell320
The fuel is for the flamethrower I'd assume, robots run on fusion cores.
Undeadbob666
I would say its 40 gallons of hydrogen. I've always figured that the cars in the fallout universe where something like a steam turbine powered by hydrogen, that's why they explode even after two centuries of being idle. At least that's just my idea, not sure if it would actually work.
montky
an excellent lore chat, thanks for suggesting it Bernt.it reminds me of those "IncredibleCross-Sections" and ye-olde "Fallout Bible" lore chats. EDIT for clarityRE Post #1: 7-9 Fluid Ounces volumetricallyEDIT2 after Emails and NMM inboxing -7-9 fluid ounces, max cap is not more than 40.I say 7-9 fluid ounces, not inclusive of the gas-vapour.----- To answer "What is in the Fuel Cannister"we must additionally consider "How does Mr Handy/EDE Eyebot function?"."How does Mr Handy Function?" begs the implicit question --- "What is Mr Handy's Power-Source?"as with the Ross-Littlewood "paradox", the answers are 'it depends' hehe.as you can see, it is a 'nested multivariate' then, with like 7 to 11 metapredicated variables. ----- an alternative approach apophatic delimitation.so, comparative analysis;the Mr Handy fuel urn is comparable to;a Kerosine "Bunt"* , an LPG Type C Cylinder, a Coffee Machine Urn, a Fire Extinguisher.some older-style scuba equipment too. Now, we do not know what is inside the cannister, nor what temp and pressure -thus, nor what the internal configuration of the vessel is (we're just judging by the cover as it were).suffice it to say,the ballpark on that is 7-9 Fluid Ounces volumetrically.it could be less than that amount however, if it were say, a desiccated powder, a foam, a plasma-condensate etc. Now, just to add to all that, for further consideration;recall that Mr Handy is depicted as being capable of remaining stationary during a blizzard, hurricane, or RadStorm event (~130MPH cross-winds for ~8+hrs)Mr Handy is depicted as hovering at 1.7m, with a 'cruising altitude' of ~400ft,and max ceiling of ~12 000ft (Skyhook style),Mr Handy moves at ~8-12kph as nominal speed, with the ability to keep pace with a vehicle on a highway doing ~90mph from cutscenes etc. Edited August 26, 2018 by montky
pra
Codsworth even mentions having an atomic engine, IIRC. I guess the real answer is "Bethesda just didn't think this through".But, for my own headcanon, I'm going to assume the fuel is just for the flamethrower, and a Mr. Handy needs about as often a refill as a generic propane-powered oven or grill. Deleted54170User
The mention of a flame thrower on Codsworth has made me wonder. Codsworth makes it clear he isn't equipped for combat when he offers to travel with our vault dweller. Did he have the ability before our vault dweller improved him for combat? Before the bombs fell what would he have a flame attachment for? Lighting the BBQ briquettes? Melting carnauba wax to polish the car?
pra
Well, in some load screen says that a Mr. Handy has tools which can be used as weapons.Maybe he's supposed to cook using his own flame, intead of a hotplate? Wiki says: A saw blade and a blowtorch that can be used as a flamethrower or a fire extinguisher. So, maybe it's supposed to be a tool to repair appliances? The wiki also says that Mr. Handys can repair each other, so maybe it's not that far fetched that they can weld?
