How to edit rules in italics.

Some mods have sort rules in italics when you click on that icon that looks like call bell in a hotel.

How do you edit those, because Better Settlers has a rule to load after Scrap Everything, and it keeps causing cyclic rules.

I don't know WHY it has a rule to load after Scrap Everything, a completely unrelated mod, but is this from the Masterlist or something?

How do I remove that rule that clearly doesn't make any sense?

The italic rules are masterlist rules, yes.

Please don't be offended, but this post is a beautiful example for two things

a) why you should just trust the masterlist

b) why your posts tend to trigger me a bit

You say "don't know WHY it has a rule to load after Scrap Everything, a completely unrelated mod, but is this from the Masterlist or something?

How do I remove that rule that clearly doesn't make any sense?"

Your use of all caps words and language like "that clearly doesn't make any sense" sounds like you're enraged about this and super convinced about your stance.

Well, the reality is that the two plugins do have something to do with each other, if you search you will find a lot of discussion in the Better Settlers chat about it's compatibility and load order with Scrap Everything (and probably vice versa).

There is a compatibility patch for the two plugins. There is clearly a conflict between them.

So no, they are clearly not completely unrelated.

And no, it's not the masterlist rule causing the cycle. One rule can not be a cycle. It always takes at least one custom rule to make a cycle.

So here's a few things:

a) Why would you even need to remove this rule, or add a new one, if you believe the mods to be unrelated? If you believe them to be unrelated, just ignore them.

b) Why are you so convinced the mods are unrelated when you obviously didn't investigate - and why are you so arrogant about it? Your posts comes across aggressive, almost hysterical "how dare this masterlist have stupid nonsensical rules!!!1!eleven"? Why not just post in a calm tone something like "There is a rule Better Settlers after Scrap Everything in italics, I don't understand why this rule is there can someone explain it?" Why always with the outrage?

c) The mods seem to be unrelated but aren't. Great stuff Vortex doesn't require you to order the mods by intuition, right?

d) Your assumptions about the relation of these mods is apparently wrong, hence your conclusion about the best order can only be wrong. Sure, you have a 50/50 chance to get it right by accident but considering the same situation will apply for potentially dozens of mods, I don't like your chances of getting it right for all of them if it's a coin flip for each.

Others have investigated the interactions between the mods and found this order to be stable and shared it with the community via masterlist.

You would have saved so much time and trouble and your post would have been so much friendlier if you had just started with the assumption that the guys doing the masterlist aren't complete retards and actually have a reason to put the rule there. Sure they could still make a mistake, but maybe don't start with the assumption that they are wrong about absolutely everything that your intuition tells you otherwise.

I use CAPS to emphasize, in the same way you would add emphasis to a word(s) when speaking, but, apparently, people take that as me being angry, when I'm not.

Someone else mentioned this in a mod thread where they thought I was being rude, when like I said, I use caps to emphasize certain words in the same way somebody would when speaking.

Literature tends to use italics, and/or CAPS, like a line "Oh, you're not going to wear THAT old dress are you?" vs "Oh you're not going to wear that old dress, are you?"

THAT/that is how I'm using caps.

Anyway, I guess I should get into the habit of using italics, for emphasis instead of CAPS.

Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate the discourse.

As far as Better Settlers with all of the italicized rules, it was frustrating, because when I tried to get Armorsmith Extended.esp below VIS-G, is when I got the cyclic problem, and according to the mod author of both of these mod, (the same person), Armorsmith Extended.esp is supposed to go below VIS-G.esp, yet due to the italicized rules, it can't, because Better Settlers is sitting above VIS-G.esp, and won't let Armorsmith Extended.esp go below it due to those rules.

That's how it looks according to what Vortex is telling me.

It ends up being a cyclic problem between Eli's Armor Compendium, Better Settlers, VIS-G, Armorsmith Extended etc.

You're doing it wrong then. It's established internet standard that all uppercase words are the equivalent of shouting. You can't expect others reading your posts to know how you use it when everyone else treats them differently. I see your post and hear you screaming WHYYYYYYY at me - hard to have a calm discussion after that.

I tried to reproduce this but can't. I don't see any rule between "VIS-G Item Sorting.esp" and "Armorsmith Extended.esp" in the masterlist at all, nor is there a "master of" relation and both are in the default group. Thus setting a rule to load one after the other works without a problem. Same for "Eli_Armour_Compendium.esp", it has no pre-set relation to the other mods.

Maybe you are just reading him wrong. TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS INDEED CONSIDERED SHOUTING. Typing ONE word in caps is for emphasis. I have been doing it that way as long as I have been on the internet. I understood perfectly his intent.

I think all/ALL/all (aw heck, I'll add this one too: all) of you are forgetting that the editor for typing posts has a "B" in the toolbar which is the established standard method of emphasizing words for phrases. It's very easy to do and there are multiple ways to use it (keyboard shortcut, highlight with mouse or keyboard/arrows, then click the "B"). If you need help figuring those out, let me know and I'll give you a hand.

Just sayin'...

So you were able to get Armorsmith Extended below VIS-G?

OK, I remade the rule and tried it again, just a simple Arrmorsmith Extended.esp must load after VIS-G.esp

Here we go:

Cyclic interaction detected between plugins "Eli_Armor_Compendium.esp and Better Settlers.esp.

Back cycle: Better Settlers.esp, Unique NPCs - Creatures and Monsters.esp, VIS-G Item Sorting.Esp, Armorsmith Extended.esp, Eli_Armour_Compendium.esp"

*Think I found it, the Better Settlers replacement patch from Unique NPCS - Creatures and Monsters has Better Settlers.esp as a master, and Better Settlers CCA pack has Eli_Armour_Compendium as a master

yes

> Think I found it

Hmm, where is this patch: "Better Settlers replacement patch from Unique NPCS - Creatures and Monsters has Better Settlers.esp" ? I can't find a patch regarding Better Settlers in Unique NPCs.

It's in Unique NPCS - Creatures and Monsters of the Commonwealth, it replaces the Better Settlers.esp if you pick the option, in order to combine the "No lolly gagging" option from better settlers into Bettersettlers.esp
