Rashikun
Recently tried to start up a new Fallout 4 game with a few mods and noticed there Vortex was a thing. I went ahead and deleted all of my old mods (Because why not) and downloaded Vortex. It was interesting enough but when I was trying to follow a guide to set it up ( Gopher the youtuber does great instructional videos) I noticed I didn't have a 'Base Path' in my Mods tab under my settings. Or for that matter a Download path. All I had was an install path leading to C:\Users\tolli\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrim\mods. Honestly have no idea what these folders are and 90% of my ability to do anything on Nexus is based on following other peoples instructions. Please help. I just want to set my game up. Pickysaurus
If you've left everything at the default settings it installed with, there's no reason for it not to work.
LaszloHun
As a matter of fact, I'm having the same issues, and as far as I know, I'm on the default settings. So if you could specify the setting that influences this, I would be grateful.
HadToRegister
SETTINGS-------->MODS-------->Install path INSTALL PATH is the path your mods will INSTALL to. SETTINGS--------->DOWNLOAD------>Download Path Download path is the folder your Mods will download to.You should make an empty folder and choose it for Vortex, as Vortex will automatically create sub folders named after the game it's managing IED:\Vortex Downloads\Fallout 3D"\Vortex Downloads\Skyrimetc. GAMES---------->Click the Plus Sign in the corner of the Game Icon, Pick "MANUALLY Set Location" if Vortex hasn't found your game install

sopmac45
The term "Install path" was recently renamed to "Mod Staging folder" Hi Grestorn, Clarify for me and the rest, something please; I understand the difference between mod staging ( install path before ) and the mod download path, but this is what I have in my case : 1 - Mod Staging : C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\Fallout4\mods …..2 - Mod Download folder : C:\Users\me\Documents\VORTEX DOWNLOADS ( this is the name I gave it … ) and ...3 - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx : C:\ProgramFiles(86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout4\Data …. here I also have my mods and my own custom mods …… so how do we call mods located in this folder ? Game Data ? Thanks so much.
Grestorn
Game Data or just Game Path. Actually, it's not the Data directory which you should talk about, but rather C:\ProgramFiles(86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout4, i.e. the location the game itself is installed to. Because only Bethesda / Gamebryo games use the data subdirectory, other games which can be managed by Vortex will use a different structure where the mods are placed to.
