Getting download links

I'm not super familiar with programming but I can't seem to find a way to get the download links of installed mods. I want to write an extension that will grab those links, put them in a list, and have the ability to import that list at a later time or on another system. That way I don't have to go to every single page to redownload everything and basically do the configuration twice.

The links to the mods are discovered and shown when you double click a mod, a right hand pane open up, and the clickable "Visit on nexusmods .com contains the url

If that helps

The problem is that link can't be used to download the file. It can take you to the page to download the file but that's not what I'm going for. That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid doing hundreds of times. I want to make it so you can give Vortex a list of links and it adds them to your downloads. Literally that's it. I mean I was going to try and get all fancy with it but that is the primary functionality of this whole thing. Get download links of installed mods and make a way to import the list.

I hope you manage it, it sounds like a nice feature/addon to Vortex.

It's totally possible. You've just got to believe.
1) It doesn't have to circumvent revenue. It can actually increase it. I'm pretty sure the stuff I've read means only premium users would be able to take advantage because of the link expiration and they don't have ads anyway.

2) I'd argue that this system would increase revenue. Making it easy means more visitors. Premium is already pretty cheap. It's just not worth it to a user like me who would rather play the game than tinker. If this was a thing already and only premium users I'd buy it right now.

3) The goal isn't to get around anything. It's to use the system thats already in place. It doesn't have to be just a text list of links. It could be an obfuscated file that only vortex can read and have an added requirement of getting it specifically from the site.

From what I've been reading all the pieces are there.

Hey I ended up here because I was trying to figure out if this was possible!

I think it's a great idea, and for the reasons you have outlined I believe it does not reduce/remove income for the site or its developers.

The secondary process I was looking into is whether you could share lists of plugins along with the relevant load order and dependencies. This way you could just go "I'll download the AerowynX's 'Lightweight Modding Guide'" file, load it into Vortex and have it download the mods and sort out the order and dependencies for me. I would pay for this ability.

Have you made any progress?

I was rather surprised that there wasn't an export/import function, so I tried to make an extension to add one myself. It's very simple and just a first beta version essentially, but you can download it here: Vortex-Modlist-Backup. You download that into a folder in the plugins folder for Vortex (I have it in %AppData%\Vortex\plugins\extension-backup), and then when you go to the Modlist in Vortex there's a Modlist dropdown with a Backup and a Restore button. Backup just creates a json file in the same directory as the plugin and Restore restores that list. Unfortunately you need to be Premium members to restore, but it ottherwise works. It would be possible to make it so that you don't have to be a Premium Member, but it's specifically designed to not let you do that so that you don't bypass ads, and I'm not sure Nexus would appreciate a plugin that gets rid of that.

There's some features I still want to make (such as being able to choose where to back the files up to and where to restore them from), but for now it should work for keeping a back up for a large list of mods

How about just adding a functionality to the website under tracked mods to have a separate list that you can maintain that you are currently using? Have it so you can checkmark mods in tracked mods and have an add to personal list or personal load order, etc? This way, ads are not circumvented but still gives a way to organize in a more concise manner. I imagine this could also make it easier?
