Blamethegods
I initially thought that this was an issue with Fallout: New Vegas but it appears that this just seems to be a thing that happens with Vortex. I described it detail here over on the New Vegas board. Long story short: I loaded and installed a bunch of mods via Vortex. It works fine. If the launcher for the game comes up at all after I've modded it most of the meshes disappear - seemingly only meshes that have absolutely nothing to do with any of the mods I've installed. This has happened to me twice now. I'd rather not delete everything and reinstall it all for a third time. I'm already pissed off enough. If anyone can help me, I will worship you. Here's my modlist copied from LOOT, but I don't believe any of this has to do with the meshes vanishing. 0 0 FalloutNV.esm1 1 DeadMoney.esm2 2 HonestHearts.esm3 3 OldWorldBlues.esm4 4 LonesomeRoad.esm5 5 GunRunnersArsenal.esm6 6 ClassicPack.esm7 7 MercenaryPack.esm8 8 TribalPack.esm9 9 CaravanPack.esm10 a YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm11 b FCOMaster.esm12 c wsex.esm13 d Alice In Shattered WonderLand.esm14 e NVWillow.esp15 f RHKGilbertCompanion.esm16 10 VanessaFollowerNV.esm17 11 drgNV - Melissa Companion.esm18 12 Project Nevada - Core.esm19 13 Project Nevada - Equipment.esm20 14 Project Nevada - Rebalance.esp21 15 Project Nevada - Cyberware.esp22 16 Kidnapped by Fiends.esm23 17 ACNV.esm24 18 YUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).esp25 19 The Mod Configuration Menu.esp26 1a ThrowableFixes.esp27 1b WEATHER RUDY ENB.esp28 1c Roberts_NewVegas.esp29 1d FCO - Willow (Cazy).esp30 1e FCO - Willow.esp31 1f FCO - Roberts Patch.esp FCO - Russell.esp32 20 FCO - GlowingOne.esp33 21 FCO - NPC Changes.esp34 22 IMPACT.esp35 23 dD - Enhanced Blood Main NV.esp36 24 WendyGilbert_WillowCompatibilityPatch.esp37 25 Women of New Vegas - Billboards.esp38 26 FalloutMaleHair.esp39 27 Courier Vests.esp40 28 zzjayHairsFNV.esp41 29 NVDLC04 Allegiance w Duster.esp42 2a BlackMountainThugArmorComplete.esp43 2b MojaveDelight.esp44 2c ACNV.esp45 2d FCO - The Last Few Edits + DLC.esp46 2e FCO - OHSB NPC Edits.esp47 2f delilah.esp48 30 FCO - Delilah.esp49 31 Unofficial Patch Plus.esp50 32 UnlimitedCompanions.esp51 33 wsexInnuendoNPCs.esp52 34 Color Me Evil - Cass.esp53 35 Color Me Evil.esp54 36 Bouncing Natural Breasts.esp55 37 wsexInnuendoAnims.esp56 38 wsex-DSI.esp57 39 1nivVSLArmors.esp58 3a ARESproject.esp59 3b Brotherhood and House Alliance.esp60 3c Convenient Fast Travel Markers.esp61 3d FIXforLegionArmors.esp62 3e Tailor Maid - NV.esp63 3f Nocturne.esp64 40 Virtuoso.esp65 41 MercWanderer.esp66 42 Gold Bars.esp67 43 SaveCass.esp68 44 CBG-mStatic+DLC.esp69 45 FewPosesMore NVedition.esp70 46 Weapon Retexture Project.esp
Zanderat
Archive Invalidation is your friend.
Blamethegods
Please pardon my vast stupidity, for I am both really bad at this and very angry.I thought that Vortex automatically did that.I played around with the archive invalidation switch thingy in the settings and it changed nothing, though I will freely admit that I was probably doing it wrong. How should I go about invalidating my archive with Vortex? AugustaCalidia
Your meshes have not vanished or been destroyed. Your meshes are there but not being utilized. Archive invalidation is designed to solve that problem. Vortex does not automatically turn on archive invalidation, as you have discovered. Two necessary conditions for Vortex archive invalidation to work are the following: (1) an enabled "Gamebryo Archive Invalidation" extension, and (2) a writable "Fallout.ini" file. Check the Vortex extensions page for the former and the Windows "My Games" folder to see if these conditions have been met. Vortex archive invalidation has been discussed at some length in this forum. You may want to do a search.
Blamethegods
I just checked, the Gamebryo Archive Invalidation extension is enabled. My ini file is edit-able, is that what you mean by writable?
AugustaCalidia
My ini file is edit-able, is that what you mean by writable? Yes. Writable = not Read Only.
Blamethegods
Then Vortex should have already done that, right? The archive invalidation should be done.
AugustaCalidia
A. Archive invalidation is enabled by doing the following: 1. Switch on BSA Redirection. 2. Set the dashboard button to "Yes." B. If Vortex AI is working properly, you should have the following: 1. A "Vortex - BSA Redirection.bsa" in your game data folder. 2. The bottom four lines in your "Fallout.ini." Blamethegods
Agusta Calidia, your step by step instructions are incredibly helpful.Unfortunately, despite following those steps, Vortex AI must not be working properly because my fallout.ini does not say that exactly and I can find no Vortex Redirection. At least the issue of why the game is messing up has been identified, but Vortex is not doing what it's supposed to.
