all i can take from the post was that a poll was run. i don't know what the poll was about, or the results. the poster didn't elaborate. In short, it was several posts of complete gibberish.

what if i did something similar, and sent this to you; How would you react to the data as disclosed;

Hi Arthmoor, I ran a poll on my discord about UFO4P.

3% of users used it. The rest blame it for issues in their game, so they disable it and Fallout 4 runs better without it.

I will not disclose anything about the poll, about the people who answered, nor will I engage with you when you ask for more details.

What do you take from that, in terms of how good/bad/useful/useless the work you have done is?

That's why I was trying to ask for some details. I got nothing except more gibberish. I am a fair person, and i try to understand people's perspectives, but the pespective has to be honest, and cannot use "most people say" and "a lot of people do" because that is just nonsense.

As for discord/reddit whatever - if they were really so useless and inept as to be unable to use what is one of the simplest mod managers around, why don't they post their issues in the support forum where answers can be provided, bugs squashed and the product made better?

if they don't participate here, where the product is supported and the devs can engage, then, as you are only too aware - they don't count, because they're not making their voices heard and their issues seen in the correct areas. Very much like our friend here with the 10,000 people in their discord. If the representation of the 10,000 people is that series of random, unstructured, detail free posts, then they're being misrepresented, unless each one of them has the writing and communication skills of a gibbon.

well that's a paradigm shifting post and no mistake. thanks for that.

are you not smart enough to make your own load order or do you need someone else to do that for you in a mod pack? There is no such thing as a perfect load order, so mod packs will just be someone else problems that will now be your problems on your computer and in your game.

Most people don't like Vortex and many don't like that the Nexus is constantly pushing it on their users.

when you claim "most people", I take from that, that you mean yourself, but you're too ashamed to admit it, so you hide behind some unprovable claim of "most people".

People who use absurdum ad populum (look it up) like you have in various forms such as your mystery poll with no context, and now the claim of "most people" use it because they're too thick to do anything else. They have an argument and they want to tell the world about it, regardless of how it makes them look.

Going on the evidence before me, which is exclusively taken from your contributions to this thread, you are indeed too thick to even post up a coherent argument without resorting to unproveable nonsense.

Here's my well-meaning advice to you - go away, have a think about what you want to say, write it out in a text editor, get a grown up to read it, and offer corrections in content and structure, then come back, lay out your arguments, your proof and allow people to respond in a polite way, so that any issues you have can be resolved, or any bugs you've found can be passed to the devs, so that they can make it a better product.

Also, i'd suggest you actually read what you're complaining about - no-one has forced anything on you - this is another fallacy you've decided to throw out there. It's been done so many times previously, also by those too thick to understand.

Don't be like them. Don't be thick. That's the resut of being ignorant and lazy. Go away, educate yourself, understand the subject, understand the reasons for it, the ideas behind it and be better for it, then come back and join in the discussion with more rounded and more well made points.

Or don't.

I'm gonna assume some of you guys here making replies like this don't frequent anywhere but the Nexus bubble because the statement they made about most people not liking Vortex is the prevailing opinion beyond this walled garden.

I don't really think launching personal attacks at them is going to do much to change their minds either.

Oh NOES, people on reddit don't like Vortex?

Nobody cares.

Well, yes, most of reddit hates it. They're far from the only place where the opinion has been expressed multiple times and Vortex is largely ignored as a result. In some places, openly recommended against for various reasons. As I said, outside of the walled garden here, the opinions on these matters are drastically different.

Oh, and if you really despise responding to my posts, for the love of God, why do you keep doing it?

"most of reddit hates it" - one of the things I said instantly disqualifies it as a serious analysis. Sorry, but you know as well as I that statements like that are not quantifiable and therefore don't count.

I do, however, wonder this;

Let us assume for one moment that indeed, "most of reddit hates it", that would lead me to believe that there are many users out there, each modding their own way, using whatever method that best suits them. Would you agree on that generalisation?

Taking it a bit further, they're all modding using whatever they want, and talking about vortex and how much they "hate" it. What I take from that is that whatever method Nexusmods used to get the word out to the general population, worked like a charm. After all, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right?

Also, don't you think its just a little odd that "most of Reddit" are sat there, simply hating a computer program? Aren't there better things to be getting on with?

Well, yes, most of reddit hates it.

You yourself have referred to reddit in a very negative light, so the "most of reddit hates it" claim you make is moot.

Why do you keep coming here and complaining about the same thing over and over again?

When I come in here it's to correct the usual misinformation, and non-factual claims and garbage being spewed by people who are just repeating what they read on reddit, or just plain hearsay without ever having used it.

It's extremely obvious when someone hasn't used Vortex and complains about it anyway, because they get everything completely and utterly WRONG.

People on reddit, are like the teenagers back in the 70s - 80s giving out sex advice in front of the 7-11.

Finally, since you have an obsession with having the last word, I'll leave you to it once again.

I don't really see what my opinion of reddit has to do with their opinion of Vortex.

So my mentioning that people outside of the Nexus garden don't care much for Vortex is somehow the same thing as my previous posts about the drag & drop issue? Um, no, sorry, but you don't get to lie and tell people those are one and the same. You'll note I never said WHY people elsewhere don't like it. So it's on you for assuming anything about my point. Which clearly shows you've never bothered to seek opinions outside of your insular group.

IMO it's extremely obvious when a cult member is blindly defending his cult or cult leaders from outside criticism. So go for it. Keep at it if you like. Don't be surprised when others call you out on it though, as I can see they have been.

I think you and HTR have both seized on a pretty minor part of my response. Reddit is far from the only place where I've seen these opinions expressed and I can tell you they are not serving to make people interested in using Vortex. They're instead making people interested in using pretty much anything else, including the community supported version of NMM. So, yes, while they are in fact talking about it, it's in a very bad light. IMO there is in fact such a thing as bad publicity. Word of mouth is powerful, but it can be used for "bad" just as effectively as it can for "good".

And no, they don't just sit around in any of these places badmouthing software at the expense of everything else they could be discussing. It's mainly when the subject of modding tools comes up.

i don't understand how and where there is this huge community of pissed off modders.

not one of them posts their issues in the support forums? don't you find that weird? i do. they fester about a computer program? that's like hating a spanner.

"Oh I'm 100% a hammer man. I hammer everything, ain't no nuts and bolts in my world - just nails. i have been hammering nails for 20 years and won't change now, who do they think they are making nuts and bolts? a "proper" handyman only needs a hammer. don't be coming in here and changing hammer and nail standards, we won't stand for none of that spannering around here!"

it is utterly ludicrous, but i guess people need something to hate, and surely hating some 0's and 1's is better than hating on a person. still odd, and still way out of my understanding, but hey - people, right?

as i said - when this army of pissed off modders can post their issues on the support forums, so that they can get answers, and who knows, make the program better, then we can deal with it. until that day - it's just unproven bullshine and fallacies on the interwebs. which is maybe why they're on reddit, no?

This is my comments on Vortex, likes and dislikes and where I'm coming from.

1) I am not a computer expert. I do not develop my own mods, though I did put a hand gun in a toolbox just to get an idea on how it's done and it was sort of fun.

I greatly admire people who can develop mods and people who develop things like Mod Manager, Nexus, Loot and now Vortex.

But, I'm not a blind, faithful, they can do no wrong fan. I don't understand the mindset of someone who thinks developers of games, mods, utilities are perfect and can do no wrong.

I use it. I started with Nexus Mod Manager years ago and moved on to Mod Organizer a few years ago. Mod Organizer took me a while to figure out but I liked the way I could easily control the load order. Some mods have direction as to where they should be loaded and it was easy to do. Other things like skin textures were not as easy but there were a number of good tutorials out that helped so after a number of tries and a few reinstall due to trying things that didn't work, I had my games set up to my satisfaction.

Vortex:

There is a lot about Vortex I like. It's easy to download and it's nice having loot automatically checking things out. I like the little pop out information you can get on the mod and plugin page and the "guess ID number on the mods is pretty cool. However - the load order is a pain in the rear. The options to manage rules and manage groups is not intuitive it is complex. Don't bother telling me it's easy and I'm wrong. If you know how to use it, it is easy for you. It's always easy to do something you know how to.

A mod says it should be loaded towards the bottom. Vortex/Loot puts it somewhere in the middle. A texture is to be replaced. If your lucky you will be asked and you can indicate the mod goes after but your not always lucky.

I've watched the videos, there are a few that give some good information, and I'll keep watching to try and figure out how I can put them in groups so they load where I need them to. But Mod Organizer was easier to do this with and that is my major issue with Vortex.

I'm not giving up on it, but I can understand people being irritated. I'm used to reinstalling my game, but most people like to have things work without a lot of stress. I'm hoping someone comes up with an easier way to do the rules and groups.
