Skinjack
Well, I decided to clean the masters, but made backup copies in a separate folder before doing so. Also did the same with a few of the mods Vortex listed as being needed to clean, but not those specifically mentioned in their pages to not be cleaned like Convenient Horses. So with the entire list I had from NMM with 237 active mods (400+ total loaded mods), I now have 183 active mods with 80 lights and 483 total active mods. Some of these mods were not even coming up as changeable before I moved to Vortex, so now I'm wondering why I didn't do this before. Such a slacker. We'll see how these test out in-game and if I have any problems with them. Crossing my fingers for stable.
rmm200
Last note on Bethesda Masters. No need to back them up.Steam Validation will replace them.Actually - keep that in mind if you clean them. You kind of lock yourself out of validating. Steam will happily replace all your work.
Zanderat
It only take about 5 - 10 minutes to re-clean if validation replaces them.
Skinjack
Yeah, I kind of lock myself out of STEAM while I'm in this game and stay offline. Really tired of the constant updates and having to redo all the SKSE dependent mods that get updated too. I have an issue with them binding their updates to their mods they peddle. Tweaks me off, actually. I just want a little stability in my game and not to spend more time modding than playing the game. And it was just a precaution anyway, since this Vortex stuff is pretty new to me. That woman I married is getting a little annoyed with how much time I'm spending in front of the computer. rmm200
Just to note: There are some quite good mods that hide CC spam. First thing I did...
Skinjack
I don't mind the spamming, its the unnecessary updates more than anything. I have noticed a few of those mods though, but thank you for mentioning that again. Sometimes it takes reminding me to clear out the cobwebs. With a sharp right, we veer off topic again...The irritating part to me is how unnecessary CC updates are. A year or so ago Bethesda promised to fix it.All they need to do is package the CC updates in a separate DLL, so executable addresses aren't affected.I personally think Bethesda wants to kill off free mods... AugustaCalidia
"To clean, or not to clean, that is the question:Whether 'tis nobler in the masters to sufferThe slings and arrows of outrageous bloat,Or to take arms against a sea of ITM'sAnd by opposing end them . . . ."(My apologies to The Bard.) Over the years I have sometimes cleaned game masters and sometimes not. I was never able to trace any particular gaming problem to a dirty master, nor was I ever able to trace the resolution of a particular problem to cleaning the masters. Apart from anecdotal evidence pro and con, is there any substantive research that either confirms or refutes the need to clean game masters? Apart from anecdotal evidence pro and con, is there any substantive research that either confirms or refutes the need to clean game masters? I've done the same, I've cleaned, and have also NOT cleaned, and I'm talking the SAME GAMES.I've never noticed any difference whether it helps or not. From what I've read, the people who support cleaning, do so because of errors in the ESMsThe people who DON'T support cleaning, bring up the fact that some mods reference those things that get removed if you clean the ESMs I can't say either way which is 'correct'It could all be a placebo effect, who knows, I haven't seen any official word
Skinjack
Sooo... I know this isn't the same topic and I should probably start a different thread but I'm having a slight issue I was hoping someone could explain in Vortex/Wrye Bash. Vortex says I have 189 active plugins, 78 light. Wrye Bash makes a patch no problem.I added a few mods, which brought my total to 193 and still 78. Wrye Bash says something to the effect I have a full load list and won't make a patch. Am I missing something? According to Vortex I am still well below the plugin limit. How exactly is it counting the plugins as compared to Wrye Bash? Even 189 + 78 = 267, which is fine, is over the limit.I don't know why its doing this when Light mods don't count towards the count. Right? I have the newest versions of both (unless they changed in the last 5 days.
