NightLuna
It felt a bit strange to me as well to be reminded of the limit, on the other hand I disagree with the statement that we should demand something. It is more complicated. If you would look at how many people downloaded Creation club patches, you would realize how much money Bethesda is making out of their paid version of mods just from a few thousands of their fans, while this is free site with a lot of crap mods, which take the space and it is hard to search them for something valuable. So Nexus does need more money than Bethesda and is paid less, so there could be some frustration. On the other hand I felt guilty for not paying anything (I can't even), so I started to create mods to contribute atleast somehow. But even if I would be a rich person I cannot imagine what kind of services I would cut off for paying customers but still making this site friendly to all creative people. On the other hand this site is based on good will, so good PR is something needed so players would pay for some sort of patreon, which they wouldn't if they feel intimidated. But even that patreon is not really propagated. If I look at youtubers - they are saying in a friendly way that there is their patreon for contributions - I don't know if that works for them. So while Bethesda can afford to kick players who don't pay, I'm not sure a free service can do it? But I guess people are afraid of that it will end up like with some free to play games - it started like: we are free to play, feel free to support us - and ended with: pay us or suffer even if we are free to use. But it is like in life - someone is trying their best to be friendly but only to be spanked around, while others are more focused on their own gain, but they are good at lying and twisting facts, and they are praised. I guess it is all about what is visible for most of people sadly. I almost never find a person who would be able to see reality of someone elseI utilize my schools "free" wifi and the computer was a gift for college. Also skyrim and fallout i worked for by using what was leftover from tuition and other fees for college, mostly tips. TBH being reminded once every day is fine with me for being non premium, but every since download and having to click two times instead of once gets annoying quick from a few weeks a go being one click and no wait. Its just bloody annoying that something easier was taken away and now its more of a pain. tbh it does make me less likely to even want to go premium. Sure websites can do what they want, but it gets annoying.
Vudou
You must not be familiar with ModTheSims. A site that has been around since the TS2 days and remains free to this day for all users. Personally I get all of my Sims mods from there if possible, because they have proven themselves dedicated to the community after so many years. When I got back into Sims recently, I was disappointed at the mod selection available here, to be honest. True, NexusMods isn't Sims 4 popular (I wish it was) but it's still where I post all my Sims 4 mods and no where else. I actually just updated all my mods over the last couple of weeks and added a few. I use to use ModTheSims, but it's just a cluster mess of a site imo. The search doesn't work as well as NexusMods and isn't as well organized or layed out. I get it, only uploading my Sims 4 mods here on NexusMods does hinder the use of my mods and the potential user base; but I just don't care for ModTheSims. I don't like it's uploading design either (I took a look at it). PLUS, I haven't heard good things about that site. As these are only rumors, but I've read other mod authors from that site say that the staff has made changes to their pages and things like that without notifying or the author's consent. Which is why several of the mod authors I use to get mods from are no longer on ModTheSims. They either made their own website or went to patreon. So that's another reason I never bothered to use ModTheSims for my Sims 4 mods. It's gone downhill since TS2. Also, a lot of mods on there get stolen off each other. I'm sure there could have been people that came here and uploaded my mod(s) as their own elsewhere, but ehh... can't do anything about that. People respect each other more here on NexusMods and I don't see authors stealing other people's work on this website. I learned to make my own Sims 4 mods so I don't have to use ModTheSims anymore XD. I just prefer NexusMods and I like my mod(s) page layout. I love the customization I can do here on NexusMods for my pages. At first the downloading advertising was annoying but now I just don't care anymore. It's obviously here to stay since the staff isn't bothering to comment on this thread about it. And it's not like I'm downloading hundreds of mods all day everyday; having to deal with that. It only makes me a little sad every time I have to click a button that says "slow download". I think to myself... "awe....". I only prefer those buttons to be changed to "Download" and "Premium Download". If you ever used thesimsresouce THAT site is the worst I know of so far. Makes you wait 10 seconds or 60 if it catches your add blocker. If you go to another tab while "waiting" it stops and makes you start over XDDD. Truly an a**hole site <3. NexusMods, please stop putting a little sadness in my life and change the name of your download buttons. That's all for me. This is one of the biggest issues the SDV community has, mod theft here on Nexus. And often we struggle to get the offending reupload removed. One of the issues that I mentioned that has led to a lot of distrust and unhappiness with Nexus in our community. The download redirects was the icing on the cake to the other complaints we had, that remain un-addressed.
StormWolf01
I agree to a point, my current life situation has me living in a hotel which has god awful internet so it's a bit more then a 5 second wait for me. I also feel like I should point out that you said "you know you can get rid of that forever for the price of a cup of coffee, right?" but that price is 55.38USD. I mean I'm not aware of what kind of gucci coffee you are drinking but I did find that a little funny. Hey man, been there, done that. Twice. Dunno where you're at, but motel/hotel rooms are NOT cheap. I can most definitely remember wondering how long I was gonna be able to keep paying that much a month, and counting the dollars til the end of the paycheck. Even to the point of wondering how many more weeks I could afford, til I was homeless out on the streets.I hope things turn around for ya real soon brother. I mean that! BTW, I laughed pretty good at the coffee joke. Thanks for my first laugh of the day! :D

Previously it was possible to have an alternate, simpler captcha shown for those like me who blocked google's sh*t; now you're forced to use it. Luckily there are other modding websites and blogs. TheCrowbar474
Ive been using nexus since skyrim first came out. At the tail end of 2011. I just recently got back after a five month hiatus due to computer issues and Im already fed up with getting nagged EVERY TIME I download a mod to sign up for Premium. Donations are one thing but this straight up harassment! I am not interested in becoming premium never have never will. I expected better from this site. artbomber1
I don't particularly mind the bandwidth limit. that's fine. And go ahead and remind me that the download is gonna take a bit, that's fine, I'm an adult, I can be patient and wait it out, but I just find it mildly annoying that instead of the click download begin downloadIt's now become: Click download Page refreshes, reloads self to take me to download page for mod Click "Slow download," Reminding me of a skeevy, "download free now" site where they hide the actual download link next to 5 fake advertisements disguised as a download button and shaming me for having the AUDACITY to not throw my cash at them needlessly Wait 5 seconds for the download to ready itself Download all 3 megabytes of my file, a download that takes only 1.7 seconds at best.I would understand throwing a 5 second wait on a file that's large enough to sufficiently disturb the servers, enough so that they need to do... Whatever server mumbo jumbo one would need to wait 5 additional seconds for, but... really? Like... Genuinely? On a file where the download itself takes less than half the time of the wait for the file itself to begin downloading? It just seems like they're really just begging me to get premium at this point, and I'll be honest, while I'm sure it will come a day where I end up purchasing a lifetime package, I've got to say, inconveniencing people is seriously not a good way to win them over, if anything, it's a fast-track to losing people, not gaining. Quite a few people would just find it much easier to move to a smaller, more user-friendly site than to deal with dumb stuff like this, especially in a modder's scene, where, let me be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if someone is currently in the works of making some sort of utility that just outright skips the whole URL side of it and just rips the files for the user en masse. Just my two cents, really.
TheTraveler12
It feels like I'm downloading from uploaded or something. Being constantly reminded about the slow download is not going to convince me to pay.

Garrette63
The extra step to downloading is a bit annoying. I've paid for premium in the past, and it's a perfectly fine service. I'm not interested in doing so right now. Going to a different page instead of being able to directly download into Vortex is a bit of a hassle, especially when you need multiple files from the same mod. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but it's exacerbated by the site being extremely slow at the moment.
