HadToRegister
yes.the consistencies, as far as i can recall are as follows, some may be red herrings, some may not be; 1. updating a single mod2. both updates are since the arrival of the fast/slow download intro page (i choose slow as i am not premium)3. i do see traces in the logs of timeout issues mentioned4. vortex starts up, downloads the mod - i install and choose to replace the older version on both occasions directly after the mod has been installed, the missing master message appears - which indicates that all plugins are now disabled. The way I update (because I ran into trouble with the update having the same version number, so instead of just replacing the ESP as it should've, it completely uninstalled the BSA, BA2, textures, Meshes, and SWF files, and just installed the news ESP.) is when I have an installed mod, and I've downloaded the update, and it has a version dropdown next to it, I open the dropdown, and click on the Flathead Screwdriver Icon to delete the old mod straight up, so Vortex uninstalls it, and deletes the archive (which I make sure to click the checkbox), then I just Install the New version of the mod. I avoid updating the way Vortex is currently does it.
Guest deleted34304850
next mod that requires an update - i will do it that way - ultimately they should do the same thing - but i wonder if something is not quite there under the covers.....hopefully won't be too long between updates as the holidays are over so we'll see.i just want to figure this out because i get what can cause this, but i'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. Guest deleted34304850
this morning, I saw two mods that had available updates, so pulled them down. slightly different process today. after pulling the mods down, i installed them via vortex, but i switched to the plugins view while the install was proceeding. as usual, nothing out of the ordinary occurred. the mod installed, and replaced the older version and all was good.with the second mod that could be updated, i again went to the plugins view, this time, i installed the mod and had two versions, as HTR suggested. again, looking at the plugins view, nothing happened. all the plugins remained enabled.so that's everything "back to normal". the only thing that i could say is different, is, looking at my vortex logs during the download of the mods, i received no indication of timeout errors at all. both mods downloaded without any issue at all and everything is as it always was. so, my question, and as i write it, and as i've understood it based on vortex logs and my own eyes, is there a correlation between the issues we saw over the holiday period where downloading mods was compromised, and vortex seemingly disabling all my plugins? for the life of me, i cannot see any kind of cause/effect going on here, so this reads like complete gibberish, but i have no other explanation for the mystery of disabled plugins. Your hypothesis is intriguing and worth further investigation. Tannin42, are you out there to provide help for some perplexed Vortex users? Guest deleted34304850
So this morning, another reoccurrence. I downloaded an update to a mod, installed that update, let it replace and once again all plugins were set to disabled. In another thread, a user reported that their plugins dialog took ages to display, I think they suggested that it took around 30 minutes. I didn't get that, but there is a noticable delay in my plugins being displayed which I assume is down to Vortex communicating with Loot via the network(?). I get the spinning wheel for a minute, maybe a bit longer, and then, upon display, everything is disabled. I'd updated Vortex earlier this week, so to have it happen again tells me something. Also, as I appear to be the only person reporting this, and there's no updates from the team, I am going to assume that they can't replicate this. Which is fine. All of this when put together tells me that this has to be a problem at my end. To that end, I'm going to go postal on this and completely remove Vortex and its config files (and format my hard disk and buy a whole new PC and get an new ISP and go back to NMM) and re-install fresh. I wonder if somewhere in my config I've got some sort of corruption, and if I have, then a fresh start is probably the answer. Sadly I've poured over Vortex logs and found nothing obvious so I am all out of ideas at this point, hence the nuclear option.
Zanderat
That is very strange. I know that this is not much help. But I can't replicate your issue here with 1.17. The silver lining is that, in the past when I have a borked a game that bad, it usually was time to start a new game anyway.
