It doesn't matter which installer you use, %APPDATA%\vortex always contains at least some data Vortex needs to find all the other information.

Stuff like "where are the mods installed in the first place" or "what version is a mod" is always stored there (or in %ProgramData%\vortex if you're using shared mode)

Formatting C without backing up your appdata directories is - quite destructive.

That's because if you use the One Click installer for Vortex, everything is stored in C:\users\<YOUR NAME>\appdata\roaming\Vortex, or maybe it's C:\users\<YOUR NAME>\appdata\roaming\Black Tree Gaming\Vortex

When you formatted your C:\ drive, you also erased all the info Vortex needs.

So that means i must install all mods again?

Well basically if your staging folder wasn't on C the mods are still there and if your download folder wasn't on C then the installation archives are still there.

You should be able to just set both folders in settings to where they were and Vortex should pick them up again, without a new install and they should work in game once you enabled them again.

However Vortex will have lost all your profiles (meaning: the information which mods you had _enabled_) as well as all the meta information that goes with a mod (screenshots, description, basically everything you see in the info panel), Vortex will not be able to update the mods because it no longer knows where it got the mod from.

Further everything you set up regarding file conflicts (install before/after rules) is gone and has to be set up again.
