CrashMasterJMM
Heya peeps... got an issue. in Vault 88, after the female settler sits down in the phoropter and Clem says "Just sit still" I get a sudden crash to desktop EVERY time. Any thoughts?
julfunky
I’d love a solution for this as well. I’ve tried skipping through the quest console commands but then overseer will still keep commenting on the photo thingy and not have any dialog, and recycleactor doesn’t help. I’ve killed her then resurrected her. Nothing. I’ve tried killing everyone. Nothing. I’ve tried to leave the vault right before it happens and then come back — crash. I’m stumped. julfunky
Ok, figured it out! The unofficial fallout 4 patch was causing it. Disabled the mod and it worked just fine.
StormWolf01
hm. Interesting that. Thanks for posting your fix, julfunky! OBTW- That character's name is "Jane" (kinda like "Jane Doe") in the game files. Not that it's relevant or anything. Just trivia. sanenomore
Ok, figured it out! The unofficial fallout 4 patch was causing it. Disabled the mod and it worked just fine. Thank you kindly. You saved me a wasted night of trying to figure it out myself. Edited May 19, 2020 by sanenomore
HeyYou
This issue should be reported to the unofficial patch team.....
Arthmoor
Except we don't take kindly to being randomly blamed for issues that aren't caused by our work. Especially from people with a history of scattershot blaming everyone else before deciding we're to blame for the world's problems.
CrashMasterJMM
Ok, figured it out! The unofficial fallout 4 patch was causing it. Disabled the mod and it worked just fine.Sorry to resurrect this thread, but thank you Julfunky for pointing this out. Disabling Unofficial Fallout 4 patch worked for me too, though after not being able to figure it out the first time I encountered the problem, I used console commands to set the stage... so... Especially from people with a history of scattershot blaming everyone else before deciding we're to blame for the world's problems.Arthmoor, if you read this, I'm not someone who "scattershot" blames anyone... ever... and I got the same result. Disabling Unofficial Fallout 4 patch bypassed the crash. 4 separate results of the same solution with people who most definitely have different mod lists, can't be coincidence. blackpete8427
I used console commands to set the stage...This is not something that should be done under any circumstance. Console commands like this force the game to function in ways it was never intended to. Using commands to bypass quest stages only leads to more problems. The game developers intended for the console to be used only as a means to diagnose issues, not as a way to "fix" them. 4 separate results of the same solution with people who most definitely have different mod lists, can't be coincidence.Yet all four people admit to disabling the patch on an existing game and continuing on. You cannot remove mods on an existing save without causing irreversible save corruption. Doing so also leaves behind orphaned scripts. The save will still attempt to reference said scripts and when it can't you get major issues like CTDs. This information comes from the Bethesda employee who created Papyrus, the scripting language used in Fallout 4. CrashMasterJMM
@Blackpete8427 - Everything you said... granted... HOWEVER... the problem still remains that with the current iteration of Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, the game CTDs RIGHT after Clem says "Just sit still." I turned off UFo4 Patch, played the scenario through, then re-enabled it right after, UFo4 Patch has no other ill effects on my game but that one part from what I can tell. I've also had little to no affects when disabling other mods that made only miner tweaks to certain things. And now with the advent of the Fallrim tools, save games can be cleaned up and or fixed.
