DeadLockedAgain
I had been using NMM for the last couple years without even realizing there was a new application out there being used. I got excited, as I myself am a developer and I love seeing what devs are coming up with these days, but I have to say after 3 hours of working in this thing, I hate it. I have not gone more than 5 minutes without encountering some kind of bug that I had to google to see a thread posted on github where a dev explained a workaround or solution. This is terrible TERRIBLE user experience. Incoming user story: as a user I feel like the application should make my life easier, if ?I wanted to be constantly googling how to get around errors and use this application I would be installing the mods manually. Now I am stuck and I dont really have the drive to continue using this dumpster fire, I cannot install a mod because it sits on installing forever but I recieve absolutely no feedback on the progress of the installation or the cancellation of it if I try. Im just at the mercy of the application, I have no control and I have no indicators of whats going on, I cannot hope to debug this myself because the devs have designed this application to treat the user as if they are simultaneously an infant child and a seasoned expert. Every time I open the application Im greeted with no less than 10 error messages about the application needing permission to open a file, no biggie Ill just run as admin right? wrong, the devs didnt intend for an application that makes changes to data to be run as an admin? I truly dont understand why you would make that decision. TLDR: this is bottom line user experience and as an industry developer Id probably lose my job if I designed something so poor and shipped it to customers. Most likely you don't have the Mod Staging Folder on the same drive as your game, so it's being forced to use Symlinks, instead of HardLinks, which asks for Elevation. Tannin42
If your solution to missing file permissions is to run applications as admin then I sure hope you're lying about being a software developer...
Zanderat
After reading the OP, there is no way that he is an "industry developer" if doesn't know how hard links work and thinks running an app as admin is a solution to anything.
