JimboUK
I can understand some people have had problems using Paypal,Credit Cards,Banks, etc etc..It is a well known fact that the largest criminal activity is ripping people off thru the internet..Even larger than drugs worldwide....I have used Paypal for years and never had any problems,TIP the system I use is have an extra Bank Account with very little in it.When you need to add money to Paypal, take it from your normal account and deposit into your other account which is nearly empty...Transfer moneyfrom that account to Paypal.this way the bank information on the internet is nearly emptyanyway..I have used this system for many years (touch wood) without any problems...Hope this helps people out, because Paypal is extremely safe... You don't need to add money to PayPal or even have an account with them, they can just handle a credit/debit card transaction. If a PayPal account was required I wouldn't be a premium member. Credit card holders shouldn't have any concerns, decent providers offer protection against any fraudulent shenanigans that PayPal may indulge in. Kalell
I watch a lot of videos on gaming sites and for whatever reason the ads on those sites regularly cause the videos to screw up. Because of that I got AdBlock a few months ago (and haven't had a problem with the videos since). I have no problem with banner ads though, and have no reason to block them here, especially if it helps keep the Nexus going. That said, the ads that have sound are very annoying. I don't know if you still have those here, but I remember seeing them regularly before I got AdBlock. There's probably nothing that can be done about them though as you have to take whatever ads are sent your way.

vincentz
Removing adblock in Nexus, but tbh dont mind if I "only" have 500 kb/s download speed. With NMM everything works so smoothly in the background, and the mod is usually downloaded before I can find the next mod to download ;) Btw. love the way you communicate. I hope to see Nexus up and running until the day Skynet takes over. (and maybe even witness a hard fought battle between Nexus and Skynet)
20rakah
Not sure how it happened but I had the false impression that you could only endorse 1 mod a month, sort of like your own favourite mod of the month. So now all my favourite/stable mods are endorsed and one or two that are really cool but need some work (like the joy of perspective)
Dark0ne
RE: premium members and adblocker/throttlingThe whole talk on ads and adblockers is completely irrelevant to you guys as you don't see ads on the site anyway. Similarly any talk of throttling is irrelevant to you as you'll always have uncapped downloads. RE: paypal and other payment methodsWe're currently working on upgrading the forums which, when we're ready, will take about a day to complete. Once we're done, we'll be moving over to a new payment platform and open up some new payment gateways. RE: donationsSame as above RE: premium members/supporters wanting to turn on adsARE YOU MAD?! finaldeath
Dark0ne, adblock plus has a fairly new program on it that is turned on by default where a site can submit themselves to the adblock team if they have non-intrusive ads so they get automatically white-listed. Personally i leave this option on since i only block ads because of many sites using video ads (which don't really seem to get blocked anymore) and other super annoying ads. If it weren't for those types of ads i would drop adblock in a heartbeat. i am sure i am not the only person like this. Here is a link to the page about it if you don't know about it already.https://adblockplus.org/en/acceptable-ads
moho25
I've already spoken out on my feeling about ads and security, but just a couple of other comments: --flash-based ads: Like someone pointed out, these are not good. While Java has become much more notorious of late for security exploits, passively allowing flash-based ads is a much larger security risk than running a static ad. --ads with sound: This is an extension of the the above, as I'm assuming that it's the flashed-based ads that also have sound (I'm not a programmer). Ads with sound are THE most annoying ads. These are the types of ads that people really, really don't want to see. It's why they download ad blockers in the first place. In short, people who are less concerned about security (incorrectly, imo) might be more willing to display ads, if they weren't flash-based and contained sound. In other words, static ads that are as unobtrusive as possible. Not to mention these flash-based ads with sound consume bandwidth and contribute to slow page load times for those with slow internet connections. stelios666777888
I know that I should be looking for this answer somewhere else, but can anyone give instructions as to how to make AdBlocker allow content from the Nexus website?
Deleted3507349User
I actually don't really care about whether ads are visible or not. I purchased a premium membership to support the site, not to get rid of the ads. That said, I absolutely LOATHE ads with sound...especially the video player type ads. When I'm on the road my internet access is through a cellular dongle and of course that has a bandwidth limit. There are many times that I've opened a page during general browsing only to close it the instant I hear an audio ad. They're intrusive and rude.
