Try right clicking on the skse_loader.exe and set it to "run as admin"

  • Administrator privileges: SKSE requires that you run it using administrator privileges. This is because the program mods the existing Skyrim game some of the actions it performs requires elevation..

Au contraire, there is no requirement that SKSE be run as an administrator, although you would think otherwise if doing an internet search. I have always run SKSE in an administrative account, but not as an administrator, with Skyrim installed in C:\Program Files (x86), and I have never had any problems.

EDIT: Likewise with SKSE64 (added after Picky's post below).

To be frank, running any game or modding tool as admin is a silly idea,

If you run SKSE as admin, chances are you'll need to run both Steam and Vortex as admin. This opens a pretty gaping hole in your system security (due to multiple apps have unrestricted access to your entire OS).

The best solution is to check the game EXE, script extender, Steam and Vortex to make sure none of them are running as admin. This normally straightens things out in a safer fashion.

Thanks, I was going to come back and add a post that he should check his entire chain of programs, and make sure they weren't all set to 'run as admin', to fix my mistake
