  1. We need a new expression, I give you: "Common Senselessness"
  2. Getting a bit bored, I've built that many PC's lately that the house is cluttered with them, I sold a few PC bits off the other day and the guy couldn't afford everything he wanted so offered me an Apple Ipad as a px, I accepted thinking I'll just flog it on but now I've had a mess about with it I kinda like it, a lot. So that got me thinking about Apple Macs, I've never had my paws on one, so are they upgradeable as in could I chuck more ram and a hugemungous gpu in there etc and/also are most games compatable with Apple operating systems? Or would I end nutting the keyboard in frustration ? Thanks in advance.
  3. Give them a call in the morning Ginny, I'm sure they'll be fine with you.
  4. No worries Your the only one thats said they want it so you can have it, shouldn't cost me more than a quid or so as its only a voucher anyhoo. Drop me a pm with where you want it sending and I'll chuck it in the post.
  5. Bought a load of new parts for a PC build and got a free game with the CPU, its a Shogun 2 Total War voucher to use on Steam. Strategy games aint my thing so if anyone wants it, shout up and drop me a pm. UK only though, then it will only cost me a stamp to send it.
  6. Thats bad luck if its a duffer, you should be ok though, I've never had any problems when RMAing stuff with Overclockers
  7. How about you show us a little respect and not bash us for having our opinions of the game. If I wanted to play console games, I'd buy a console. You are rather scathing with your posts Vin.
  8. Damn, I was looking at the Asus G73SW the other day and was just managing to forget about it :wallbash: I aint really got a use for it and have just built a new gaming rig, but that G73SW is shiny and we wants it, yessssss. Can't really justify it though, might see if I can come across a secondhand one on some of the PC forums I go on, I loves a bargain. BTW: As regards the amount of ram, someone will come along and say " oh you'll never need all that", but hey its your laptop and if you want it, go for it.
  9. I don't need better reasons than that. 35 quid of my money means I want a game that will have me coming back to play it again. Having to install one of my old graphic cards and have a 6990 sat in its box in order to play a brand new game release is shocking, even more shocking when a fortnight later the crossfire/sli bug still hasn't been fixed and not a word or an apology from Crytek to the many people that have paid their money and can't play the game, thats appalling. There's 88 pages on that thread about it on the Crysis forums and nothing forthcoming from Crytek, don't tell me that doesn't stink because it does. I know you like the game Vin, but have a look at it from some one else's point of view, lucky for me I had an old graphics card I could chuck in so that I could play the game, others don't, disablng crossfire means you can play the game but if you have a dual GPU card your goosed, as you can't disable crossfire on a dual GPU card. I'd like to have seen the look on your face if you had been in the same boat. As for Crytek not liking the PC crowd very much, TOUGH. I didn't pirate their games, infact I bought Crysis twice, and I bought Warhead and now I've bought Crysis 2, you take my money, then you deliver the goods or you don't get anymore.
  10. Had this built up and running for 3 days now and very happy I is. Win 7 Ultimate 64 I7 2600k SandyBridge under Corsair Hydro H70 8 Gig Patriot G-series DDR3 ram Asus SabreTooth P67 mobo Seagate 250Gb system drive Corsair Reactor R120 SSD games drive 2 Samsung 1000Gb storage drives Sony DVD RW optical drive Asus Zonar D2x soundcard Sapphire AMD 6990 Corsair AX1200 Gold PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos Sport case If I have to upgrade this to max out Skyrim I'll ditch computers and take up gambling, it would be cheaper :teehee:
  11. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy playing the game, but it aint no Crysis I played through Crysis and Warhead again just recently for the umpteenth time, still enjoyed em, but Crysis 2 is now uninstalled and in my "old games drawer". And then there's the bullschlist that Crytek dished out about it going to be a visual treat when they knew all along that it was going to be a console port, the easiest way to alienate your customers is to lie to them. And then there's this, people still waiting to play the game a fortnight after purchase because Crytek can't fix a crossfire bug. http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=10994 Leaves you feeling very      as I had to put an old graphics card back in my rig to play the game or I'd still be waiting too.
  12. Think you may need fresh drivers as you're using a 4xxx series card now I believe ? Also, if you can afford to, grab another one while the offer is on and go crossfire, just think of all those lovely texture mods that will appear for Skyrim
  13. If you can, copy the contents of the drive to another drive, format it and then ChkDsk it, if its ok put your files back, if not you may have try a drive rescue program, can't think of one offhand but Bben will know of one.
  14. If there's a four gig model of the lappy you want, politely ask if they'll up the ram to eight gig as a sweetner on the deal, you never know know your luck.
  15. Crysis 2 Limited Edition, completed it. Hmmm £35 A flickering crossfire bug that meant I had to remove my 6990 and chuck an old single GPU card in my PC to be able to play the game, not just me either, see here, http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=10994 Console standard of graphics. Complettion time: 8 hours 47 minutes 37 seconds. Replay value, not really. Value for money ? Not really
  16. This ^ Jim's right, it was the stunning environment that stopped the previous games from being run of the mill shoot em ups. Although: Talk of a directx 11 patch here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=341143
  17. For crying out loud, why do they do it, Crytek of all companies should have known better. I think the golden era of PC gaming is fast becoming a distant memory folks.
  18. Quote of the day Nail hammer head
  19. It sadly seems, in more and more cases, that political correctness is a tool used by tools who have too much to say and need to feel self important and justify their existance. @ Jim Take their insults as a compliment, when they are reduced to insulting you, you have already got the better of them.
  20. Agreed. Perfect example ? That Wii thing, I don't rate it at all but people go mad for it. Saw an advert last night for the latest and greatest game thats just been released for it, bloomin Donkey Kong. The Wii platform is getting away with knocking out more repeats than the BBC and people a lapping it up, and Microsoft aren't shy of jumping on a bandwagon.
  21. Good choice, will be ordering the Sapphire version of that so I can tri-fire, once the wallet puts a bit of weight back on that is. Oh, and I got the female mod working for Two Worlds 2, wanna copy of it ?
  22. Which new ATI brute are you thinking of getting Ginny, lil old me is grinning all over my chubby chops with what arrived at farty towers yesterday morning  My wallet on the other hand, has had a breakdown :teehee:
  23. But if the OP wants a new system to last 2 or 3 years then he or she is going to want to get the maximum horsepower they can get their hands on, theres games out there now that can bring some pretty hefty systems to their knees, what are things going to be like in a couple of years time ? To the OP Best advice I can give is: Don't skimp on your PSU, everything depends on it. Buy a motherboard that will let you Crossfire or SLI at a later date. Pick a case with plenty of room, good cable management and good cooling options and remember, flashy lighting costs money but doesn't improve performance. Consider AMD CPU's, they give you serious value for money. SSD drives are small and expensive but performance wise make standard hard drives seem like an agricultural device. Pick a graphics card that you think will do everything you want and remember that you can crossfire or sli at a later date. Hope you enjoy your build.
