  1. If I don't get the game when it come out, I might wither away thinking of how everyone else is playing and I'm not! GOTY will take what about a year to two years maybe. When GOTY comes out then it will be time to give the pre-order away and upgrade. That is the way it is meant to be, more money for Beth for new a game!
  2. I was watching the Spike video game awards that day on satellite. I saw fog, then men in hoods, then a man in jeans o_O

Of course I have seen Todd before, so I was not that impressed because I thought he was going to talk about how awesome Fallout: New Vegas was. I thought he was going to talk about Rage or Brink or Hunted, I did not expect to hear Skyrim.

    *passes out*

    *revives*

I missed the teaser! All I remember seeing was the big 11.11.11! *pass out again* So I had to look it up on the you tube as they somehow have it the very second it comes out, but it was not there! *starts crying* I thought waiting might help, so the next day or two I could not sleep, eat, or do anything but wait.

Then I saw it here under Skyrim. I still could not believe it. Five years in the waiting and I don't get anything but a context and release date (good enough for me). GI just filled in all the gaps, almost.

More serious tho, isn't that what teaser are supposed to do, make you want more and not get anywhere besides a name and release date?

  3. As long as there is the dwemer ruins, there better be spears and crossbows. That will be one of my mods if they are not in the game. I've had an idea for fishing, sounds corny but true. It could be another skill, and if Beth said they have it already I must have read over it. A fishing pole and just sitting and looking at the beautiful landscape. In Oblivion, there were times that I wanted to do that, using UL mod. It could also be a good way to excape, if you need to step away from the keyboard or controller. I don't know!
  4. Under the light of mystery,

    Darkening shadows to be,

    Songs of hiding,

    Spells of finding.

    Gorvin being called feign,

    And Torgnal has seen,

The escape of fate and doom,

    To his army he booms,

    "Follow that trick and traitor!

    "Do not wait till later."

    Away as fast as wind,

    No short cuts to exscind.

    Gorvin and his few friends

    Fly through corners and bends.

    Ever longing the distance

    More and more every instance.

Coming at last to the castle of elf and men,

A fight and flight like that, had never been!

So weary and tired they were,

    Where the enemy followed near!

  5. The thing about MMOs today is the fact that they all have the same theme - DnD, WoW, Lotro. All are elves and orcs and battles, but they each bring a unique atmosphere to the genre. I personally play Lotro because it is free, and because many of my friend play too. An MMO Elder Scroll game would just be another option to people if they don't like the others.

Really I just don't see this happening. It may be cool and awesome idea, but the reality is more maintenance and time consumption from other games. Lotro usually update every three or four months, Old republic (losing hope) is taking forever and a day to come out. MMO games are a huge step to greater things but the people may not be in the same waiting boat for MMO or another game. Take Skyrim, I literally thought they were done with the series after Oblivion became game of the year, and because of how it and Fallout: NV were very criticized after release even tho they were very popular. An MMO TES game would take a long time in the making, and would probably be consuming so much time that other great games would be pushed back.

Everyone has their own opinion about the MMO subject. I would play it and see if were good and lore accurate, and for the names sake! BUT, I do not hope and trust in a MMO TES to come out.

  6. In that morning, light faintly came through that dark cloud,

Awoken be thunder and enemies. Loud

On their ears a battle is now stirring,

Now their horses they 're spurring.

Encompassed by black, hideous night, the evils' nigh,

But a dim light in the mist is near by.

Trumpets are blown while battle cries they yell,

Man with the first arrow fell.

Back and forth near to death the battle is turning,

Lightning is flashing, and fires burning.

Finding no rest for more than a second

On all sides being threatened .

But at last when Torgnal's army was nigh vict'ry,

Gorvin with men vanished by wizardry.

All was still and for a moment orcs wait,

But seeing their foe to late.

  7. I look at it this way, Elder Scroll 5! This is the fifth one in a series and all of the series has had extremely high receptive rate.

Now yes Skyrim is the climax to all the other game, they all lead to Skyrim. After Skyrim I'm sure there is a plot that involved Skyrim's event to happen before something even worse happens than dragons. What it is I don't know, I'm not a good TES loreman. I just play the games and hope for another to come and be more unique and epic than the last, which I almost lost hope in Skyrim to come.

Beth has made so much money and put so much effort into the series and lore that if they stopped, tho it may seem good and they would do fine, I'm afraid what they would do with themselves, sitting around saying how awesome there series were and just remembering the good old days. That's not Beth, one game after another, some being suprises in the darkest of hours.

All that to say I do not believe they will stop. I believe they can't help themselves to another, they have fun making it and feel good when we praise them for modding abilities, which is another way to find new and better ideas.

Long live Beth, and long live The Elder Scrolls!

  8. @ fatalmasterpiece, I agree with how you put it. The only question is if one doesn't do the quest, like I do, and then remember you have it 20 levels later, would they be the same level as when you first got it or increase along with you till a certain point?

Now that pic is awesome rofl!!! Kind of reminds me of the Monty Python Holy Grail movie.

  9. Awesome dedicated thread. Keep up the great work youve done. Kudos for you

And everyone else that drools on this thread should deposit there kudos for Zaldiir.

Companions have been confirmed for skyrim and I am really praying for a dog follower. What does everyone else have to say about creature companions?

    edit- dogmeat rules

That would be good, at least they would stay with you till death or you let them go. Summoning every thirty to sixty seconds is tiring. Dogmeat rule is the best!

  10. With the whole thing about perks, it makes all the skills all but meaningless to me now. I maybe understanding this wrong, but . . . If you have skills, then you have a branch of perk in that skill that implements the "skills" we know of, i.e. blunt and blade under one or two handed, the perks allow us to "specialize" in a "skill" so to speak. The problem is, if I recall, you can choose any perk from a branch you like even if you do not use that skill - I choose jumping higher perk over my constantly used blade having a damage increase perk. Of course I expect there is going to be a level system for the perks, can't get one unless you have this other one.

With all that said, the perks allow you to customize and individualize your skills without even having skills or paying attention to your skills!?!

p.s. I'm tired so don't bash to hard!

  11. Ah, yes! Very good mod for oblivion.

Skyrim's weapons looked to blaa to me in the Game Informer mag. I do think Beth knows what to be ' bland' or 'bad' with just for the moders.

All I care about is the SPEAR. SPEAR I say!

  12. Thanks a lot!

Up in the Dark Mountain ancient evil awaits

To smolder in malice and feed their hates.

To swiftly show all their power and might,

To come and depart like night.

Halzeril, King of Dragons, guardian of his Lord,

Of whom past lore is never fully told.

Dark Lord Torgnal with pain as his disguise,

    Moves ever toward his demise.

An army of orcs and goblins await his will,

To destroy and plunder, with fire to fill

The last homes of men and also of elves,

Caring not for their own selves.

But in Torgnal's impatience, he sent his cursed men

To find his victory he thought had been

In his grasp, but to far ahead of him,

A war sung in all the hymns.

  13. Walking in the woods, under trees with autumn leaves,

Feeling on their face the wind's gentle breeze.

Fearing no man, animal, or foul beast,

Not a worry in the least.

A warrior at heart and his mind always on war,

Gorvin, sword master to the very core.

Waiting for the coming of battle near,

Getting rid of all his fear.

Among his companions, Lindor, mighty bowman,

Never to leave his captains right-hand side.

Arrow and string with the soft twang of death,

Finds the mark and ends the breath.

Valagon, wizard and enchanter, swift in speech,

And powerful music he gives to each,

Protecting man and elf in all the groups,

    Dreadful to enemy troops.

Of healing none could boast like Muz, Great Herbalist.

All will be help and saved if in his mist

By his ever so strong magic powers,

And by the bloom of flowers.

With these four, thirty more followed to aid in fights,

Proving faithful in bright days and dark nights.

Never fearing the sting of death to come,

    Always to follow their drums.

More to come! Inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien and TES.

  14. The only good thing about prison starts is the fact you can 'customize' your character even more - with the fill-in-the-blank past. Starting prisoner is getting a little repetitive, I would have liked being a wounded warrior in rehab.

Seeing how you are 'saved from execution,' prisoner start may be a different twist, like you are a blade being killed kind of thing. Morrowind you were like a prisoner getting probation and serving the emperors spies, while Oblivion was kind of like breaking out and getting pardoned for it!?!

I would really like to see some repercussions from pre-prison life come to bite you in the rear during your adventure in Skyrim.

Maybe you had a friend who, one day, had an idea that would end in tons of money. You were reluctant but, seeing as how you have fought side by side with this man, you invest yourself in his idea. As you are pulling off the heist (which could be anything ranging from raiding a preserved dwemer mine to stealing from a former blade member) you are found out. As you are running away, your friend, in all his greediness, attempts to snatch one last gold amulet. In doing so the pursuer was able to get his broadsword lodged in your friend's leg, right above the knee. You wish you could do something but you know that any hesitation could swiftly end your life. As you're leaping over obstacles and knocking over anything to stop your follower, a thick wooden club meets your forehead, and everything is black. You wake up in prison, you see no familiar faces, no trace of your attackers, and no trace of your friend. Next thing you know, 4 years have passed and the Elder Scrolls V begins.

Much further into the game, you are perusing around town and see a vaguely familiar face. It is a dirty Khajiit missing fur in several places, nearly no clothing, and a missing leg, cut right above the knee.

This could lead into an interesting quest and a little backstory as to who you are, rather than just an anonymous prisoner.

    I don't know...

    That's what I would do.

    That is an excellent point!

Morrowind made complete sense (to me). Oblivion was like 'why and how is that possible.' Skyrim, along with what you mentioned, would top the cake if it implemented something along that line. Nevertheless, I doubt its going to take place. That is what mods are for, and I think that's what Beth is wanting.

Speaking of Beth and Skyrim, is there any new info on the game?

  15. I understand what your point is broken. Prison is being a little overused, especially in the past history context.

Radiant story makes sense side quest, main quest tho need a new umph to it so to speak. Morrowind was epic in main quest because of all the stuff one had to do, and because it was so out here at time. Oblivion was too straight foward for me. Go get this, go get that, no become mayor or general and things. Hopefully Skyrim will be a combo of both, straight foward and broad (having to go everywhere under the sun). Hoping, just hoping!

  16. The only good thing about prison starts is the fact you can 'customize' your character even more - with the fill-in-the-blank past. Starting prisoner is getting a little repetitive, I would have liked being a wounded warrior in rehab.

  17. The podcast writen down is better than the actual podcast I think. Just reliazed how awesome the new leveling and perk system fit together with the skills and the overall level. Faith in a epic game + 10!
