  1. Well the alpha channel doesn't have anything to do with this system. It works independently from textures. While an alpha channel can be used in a shader to, I guess you could say, flag what areas the renderer renders, on a per pixel level (texture), this is vertex based. I guess it's just an integer assigned to a vertex that can be used to flag to the game engines renderer whether or not it gets rendered under certain conditions. (or could just be used in some other way, eg attached to specific bone chains for dismemberment, but not necessarily has to do with a boolean switching of it rendering or not) Whether or not you should use one node or the other would be determined if it works or not :P IIRC, I am guessing here about years old systems I can't hardly remember how it works, I think you might just need the NiSkinInstance, as the whole partition body part and what slot it fits on as an armor addon can be handled by CK ( there doesn't seem to be a need to partition any of the geometry since you never need to selectively render certain polygons and not others...) but could be wrong.
  2. NiSkinInstance just contains vertex bone weight assignments. The difference with BSDismemberSkinInstance and the older NiSkinInstance is one is specific to Bethesda's version of the engine. BSDismemberSkinInstance contains the vertex weights too, but they created it to allow them to deal with body part dismemberment in Fallout 3 and is used for adding skin partitions to face selections of the models, this allows sections of the armor, body, creatures mesh or what ever, to be split at any of the meshes edges and be either removed/not rendered, as in the case of sections of armor/clothing, so as to avoid clipping, eg if you equip a pair of gloves, the polygons at the ends of the sleeves can be disabled from rendering, or allow the section to be bound to a bone chain and break away in a dismemberment action in game. The shader flag I was mentioning is SLFL1_skinned. this number 14 doesn't mean anything to me... the other thing to try to look at is the partitions in the BSDismemberSkinInstance, other than that I can't think of anything off the top of my head
  3. If you just need a NiSkinInstance node simply do not add the BSDismember modifier to the stack before export. Exporting with just skin modifier will result in a NiSkinInstance. (basically like what is done for skinned meshes for oblivion. ) The verts having Tangents and Binormals should not affect anything else besides normal map rendering. however you might need to pay closer attention to the shader flags as there is one for skinned meshes and you may not have it enabled...
  4. This constant interference and nannying is leading to the infantilization of large numbers of people, this is happening at an alarming rate in the UK where people are actually calling the police if someone is rude to them on Twitter, comically a law from the 1980s compels police to investigate that complaint no matter how trivial, you actually get police knocking on a persons door because they called someone "ugly". It's your duty as a citizen to report crimes if you witness them though right? Surely the line between grossly offensive and just plain old offensive has to be draw out before a judge to make that determination on a case by case basis, there could be severe emotional distress or it could be a persistent attack on an individual. Only a court hearing could decide these mitigating factors am I right? I mean if a person can be charged and found guilty for "All soldiers should DIE & go to HELL! THE LOWLIFE FOKKIN SCUM! " on facebook, then any specifically targeted offensive communication has a shot at a guilty verdict. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/21/section/127 I shall be busy reporting youtube and facebook comments to the police for the rest of the day.
  5. Absolutely. The US would have about 50 wars going on right if all it took was for someone else to declare war on the US. imo, being officially at war would be any one of the 5 wars the US has fought in it's entire history, the ones it officially made a declaration of war in. Even disregarding the constitution and the so called grey area of the limited power the president might have in matters of declaring war, while all the other conflicts were in every sense wars, the US presence were usually called a 'police action' or some crap. All the conflicts of the cold war were all proxy wars against the USSR and/or UN sanctioned actions and none of them did the US declare war.
  6. What have the Tories got to do with anything? Labour governments were also more than happy to deal with South Africa. You seem to forget we were fighting against communism, the last thing we needed was the richest country in that area taken over by communists. Mandela was a brave man but let's not rewrite history, he was a member of the communist party in his early years and always had a leaning that way. Sure was. They talked the talk and started the boycott movement, but in the 60's when they had their chance to actually do something about Apartheid they pussied out. Though AFAIK that prime minister wasn't financially invested in keeping the status quo like Thatcher's husband.
  7. No, not okay. Your point is lacking substance compareing South Africa as it was during the "Apartheid" with conditions know from lenins russia. Do you know how many tribal states existet freely during the Apartheid? What the colours on the new SA Flag stand for? This was never about seperation of the races, this was about that lazy ass communists wanted to loot the proerty of the mainly whites to redistribute it to their even more lazy followers. And ofcourse the cubans, and angola and the russians had their plans by taking africa. No, not okay. 8. Oh YES! Let's replace one f*cked up mentality with one just as bad. And while we're at it, we'll scuttle the infrastructure! Oooo! Let's drive out all of the European Africans (you know, the ones that grow ALL of our food) and confiscate their land and machinery so we can 'pay' our genocidal warlords! That way we can have TRUE justice and f*cking starve because we’re a bunch of Leftist dupes and the Cubans and Russians can walk off and let us eat rats and become the aids-infested capital of the world. If we’re lucky...that is... YEAH...tell me it ain't true. :woot: your point?
  9. Yeah because being a hardcore communist is that was much worse than the Apartheid backed up by western governments like the Torys in the UK.
  10. There is much debate whether the president actually needs congressional approval to declare war, because of a section of the constitution and what Madison clarified on the subject of the executives actual powers of declaring war. So while Truman said 'war', he never asked for congressional approval to do it. After he did that, he later said it was a 'police action.'
  11. ^This should be it's own thread. But anyway. If what I see in that image is the texture simply just opened in PS, then you can ignore his alpha channel as it's just blank white. Which is basically wrong anyway. But the reason why you are stripping the alpha layer after saving with those settings is because DXT1 cannot store a alpha channel. Use DXT5 for that. This blank blue texture thing you mention sounds suspiciously like you have ticked the box that says 'convert to tangent space normal map' in normal map settings. What might be happening if that is on is that will be trying to read your diffuse texture as height info and trying to convert to normal data. Which you don't want, and that entire feature set should be ignored as it's mostly useless and will never yield a decent normal map even if that is what you wanted.
  12. I believe this thread is ultimately about a feminist issue. I'm not sure which they will see as the lesser of two evils. Most of these mods of which you speak are the very things feminists will grimace at. Most are perpetuating the objectification of the female body to a degree that the vanilla game isn't even in the same league as.
  13. open it in nifskope in the NiTriShape NiTriShapeData block details Has Vertex Color > set that to No. Test it in game Or look in the BSLightingShaderProperty block details Shader Flags 2> enable SLSF2 Vertex Color
  14. It doesn't seem to be about the persons status, or what particular issue they actually have, being unemployed, blind or disabled would be ok, as long as you can afford it or someone affords you. It's about finding money. So if it is left up to the state to provide of you for what ever reason, then after a few years or so, and there is no change in that, then they come around with a needle and a mop and say pick one.
  15. There's no reason why it should go anywhere near fascism. The idea of euthanizing any persons deemed to be a burden on society, and we aren't talking about murders or criminals here, but fat people, is rather near what many would call fascism. Also the slipperly slope clearly happens. Some idiot born in Austria should be the first one to spring to mind...
  16. In 10 years it'll be mandatory gene screening.
  17. When I was in high school, a girl, 15 at the time, was trying to shag a science teacher. It was all her, total predator. She has a massive daddy fetish. Anyway, on her 16th birthday she basically jumped his bones. No one knew at the time. She kept that under wraps pretty good. Still no one knows about that. Pro tip: while walking home from the pub at night, never take a piss near school or park with swing sets. Yeah I'm sure there is, I know of at least two relationships from my school days and you regularly see stories in the papers. What makes me smile is the reaction to these stories, if it's a male teacher and a female student there are cries for him to fed his own testicles while hanging from a lamppost, if it's a female teacher and a male student the response usually is "lucky guy, good for him, I wish I could have got some at that age". So much for equality.
  18. GIMP doesn't have channels. The creating a layer mask and filling it with black should be in effect, once exported, be making a black alpha channel. Anyway. Just check the alpha channel to actually see that it has worked. If you don't use a program that supports channel editing, you can use many other programs to check DDS channels and confirm how things have exported. You can try RADDS. http://devblog.ctdp.net/2009/12/dds-utilities-released/ Just select alpha from the channel drop down. Also check the gloss value of the material. If it is too low, it'll break.
  19. No one is at fault. It's like 'when is a painting finished?' The testers likely had filed tickets for a lot of that. Who ever is in charge of the queque probably gave it a low rating and then it never came to the top of the queue, so was never assigned to a dev, as more important things would always be found and always be moved to the top of the queue. You don't want to dump a zillion tickets on a dev at a time, and then keep piling more, often higher priority ones on their head on a constant basis, and there WILL be constant flow of tickets to be assigned in all the departments every week. Eventually you have to mearge to stable from the testing environement and you build an RC, or next milestone build number, and you cannot ever make the guy who is doing the build wait, the leads of those teams have to cut you off and just say 'well that feature/fix/update doesn't make it'. If it isn't the final build perhaps next build it makes it. If it is, it's out. As for that image, yeah it's a bodge job there, I can think of several senarios how that could have come to be. And the most likely one is that the amount of changes to the town and the way it was whiteboxed and then finalised over time allowed things like that to happen, and then the ticket was so low priority or no one complained because they were all playing it on the xbox in 720 lol
  20. I am saying that I would not allow my team to run rampant and make s#*! that they themselves know is waaaay beyond the hardware specifications of the console hardware. Modders can do things developers simply cannot do. So using that particular mod as an example just doesn't fly in reality. The reality is there are still memory concerns and budgets must be roughly adhereed too
  21. If I were the art lead on Skyrim, I would have had to reject a lot of that work. I would have to turn around and say, this isn't a PC mod, this is an XBOX360 game. And if he kept ignoring the guidelines I had laid out for my team I wouldn't be happy... He can do things the designers can't. Also deadlines.
