i7 2670 is a really nice CPU (kinda like a i5 2300, lower clocked but with hyper threading) but you wont be able to play at 1080p with ultra settings on a mobility GPU (at least not without those crazy priced 580M/6990 mobility GPUs). Ultra high end mobility GPUs are a lil bit slower than mid-high end GPUs for desktops (for example, a crazy GPU on a laptop would be the one that powers a GTX 560 Ti on a desktop). And that particular range of gfx cards dont do too well on 1080p unless you start to cut anti aliasing, af and some settings. That 560M packs less punch than the 550 Ti of your sig for example. Anyway, if you dont expect crazy things, that Asus should be pretty nice.

"They've already got the best they could find" huh? We dont know that. If the best they could find dont know bout compiler flags, nor has any idea bout coding decent shaders that dont poop out after a few dynamic lights in screen, then maybe they didnt searched too much... We, as video game consumers, are a stupid bunch IMO: - CD Key? No problem. - Connect to server for activation? Okay. - Permanent connection? Im on facebook/twitter most of the time anyway. - Company gets paid twice if the game is sold used? Sure, i almost saved 10 bucks there by not buying it new! Glad that you were there to remind me that i still have to pay the full price somehow. - Limited installations? Bring it on! I like to count! - Day one patch? I got bandwidth to spare. - Pay full price both on retail and downloadable version? Yay, equality! - Patch two after a month? And its free? Oh you care so much for ur costumers, ur teh best develuper evar <3 - Region locked games even if you bought it from a multi national online service? Of course, otherwise i may press the Install in French button by mistake! - 1 to 1 conversion between Dollar and Euro? Yay, equality again! And the list goes on and on...

Is Fus Yoda Offensive to Skyrim Fans?
eltucu replied to GeneralTsoaChicken's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Pff, offended? lol It was funny. "That's force push and not really related to skyrim" No sht dude! Thats must why i didnt found Yoda in Solitude... -
Critique of the game and why I don't like it (anymore).
eltucu replied to 747823's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You're THE 747823? Now i understand cuz i was reading the graphics part and i thought "Either this guy knows a lot or he just like to trow up words so he looks that he knows something" Then i looked at his name lol This guy is one of the author's of Realistic Lighting without Post Processing mod, along with Pluto (editing imagespaces with an hex editor for example). This is why you stopped modding Skyrim altogether i guess? I agree, Skyrim's tech is sht. The only thing that i do not agree with was the Athleticism and Acrobatics part. For everything else, you have one kudo from me sir. You're on my hall of fame along with Arisu, Alexande Blade and Headbomb with that post. -
I think it was stated that it was a crater, and thats it. I dun see why so many ppl insist in going to Morrowind lol I mean, in TES IV everyone wanted to go to morrowind. Then Beth friggin blow'd up half the province, maybe indirectly stating "FORGET BOUT MORROWIND FOR ONCE" and ppl still want to see Morrowind again lol Nah yeah, a single city is way too small. I was talking more in the lines of the whole mountains around, maybe extending Skyrim to the west. Sort of like Shivering Isles, you got one or two main places, then a bunch of new terrain to explore. Still, now that i think of it, i'd really, REALLY want to know what happened to the Eye of Magnus, or what it is the damn thing for that matter. Maybe paying a visit to the Psijic? The Psijic returned after dissapearing for 100 years! This is big stuff, that said, i wouldnt want Beth messing up with Artaeum (wherever it is now) if they dont want to make a full featured experience (not The Pitt sized stuff but more like a full fledged expansion). And there still the thing that if Bethesda's delves into the Old Ways and the Psijic too much, they may lose their mysterious appeal.

You're confusing it with Stros M'Kai. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Orsinium

Increase the distance 'shadows' render around my character?
eltucu replied to TemplarLord's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Ah yes, pretty annoying. For me its more like a line in between. I think it has more to do with lighting distance. Umm... Test these three: fSpecularLODStartFade=2000.0000 fShadowLODStartFade=4000.0000 fLightLODStartFade=8000.0000 Set the first to ten thousand and see what happens, then the 2nd one, and so on. (it has probably something to do with the first two, the third is more for light sources rendering distance i guess). Once you find out if they do something, then re adjust to taste. -
I could make you a falmer ear elixir... It doesnt makes you grow missing limbs though, just makes them longer :P 15 septims!

I think Sawyer already put a nail in the coffin with his comment bout Bethesda's engine bad performance :( His comment really sounded like a "Fu- you Bethesda!"

haha, well, i found some of the unconditional consequences of marriage system in Skyrim to be fun. The first thing that i did, with my male pc, was asking the blacksmith in Riften if he was interested in me, it was hilarious :D That said, Skyrim is full of "macho womans" (to the point of finding a woman that says to you "U NO STAND THE SIGHT OF STRONG NORD WOMAN?" ) but Aela particularly does looks like she plays for the other team. Triss outfit from The Witcher 2. TW2 is full of interesting woman :P

And? Or you're going in circles to avoid stating something particular instead of implying? "Making a game cost quite a bit" You dont say how much. "but utilities at the working place, salaries, supplies (computers) would cost a lot even for a month" again, you dont say how much. "It doesn't matter how much you sell if making your game costs more than the money you got out of it." and here you're avoiding to say that its Bethesda's case or not. Either talk numbers or take a stand on something cuz if not you're not going anywhere with those words.

Entire province doesnt fits into the DLC idea i think :) And Orsinium is no more if im not mistaken (but i'd be glad to re build it given the chance though).

How lighting interacts with this armour... ! Arggh! Help.
eltucu replied to ooofbaer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well, since the feathers are made out of two layers of polygons, did you tried erasing one of the layers? Gah, no, tried to mess up the uv map of one of the layers (same effect as erase it), and although the faces can be viewed from the front and behind, it only gets lighten from the side the polygon is facing (pretty much the same as with vanilla mesh) Now i remembered what i hated bout the uvmap editor from NifScope, you cant select the polygons from the main screen then edit up in the uv map editor, you need to blindingly touch the polygons from the uv editor window while looking at the main window to see who is who. That or i dun know how to use it properly. -
Ah, yes. I was not arguing to why they're not doing an all round great game, just that they could but they dont want to. Even what i said bout lack of skill is kinda stupid now that i think bout it cuz they could hire almost whoever they wanted for making the story, wich wouldnt guarantee anything cuz Skyrim clearly shows lots of quest lines, and general gameplay ideas that were butchered for the game. That said, Skyrim doesnt has the latest tech precisely, so they're not even "bartering" with that segment of the players. Like i have said multiple times before, they like to make stuff "good enough" rather than great, or the best. My thing with TES and Bethesda in general is kinda love-hate since they have an amazing formula for an incredible game but they're always manage to dilute it at the end. Sad that i'll probably wont see any other spin off from Obsidian of Fallout :(

I was reffering to the model portion of the feathers. I dunno how its called. 2D model? Partly transparent geometry? -
Dude, every single game out there does that, they would crash or produce artifacts otherwise. When you get to the top of vRAM utilization, the game starts to stream content from cached assets in RAM that are preloaded from the HDD. Since RAM is kinda far from the GPU and way slower than vRAM, you start to see popping around cuz the game cant render stuff fast enough if streaming things from RAM. Thats why you see total RAM usage of Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout increase as the texture mods increase. Actually, the whole MegaTexture thing of Rage revolves around this issue taking it to the next level.

Even if the player can marry her, i think she is a lesbian :P Specially when that "I killed a bear yesterday" girl wants that Aela mentors her even if they have nothing in common as... Farkas? points out.

Where the ppl get these ideas that every video company out there is hardly making any profit? Oblivion sold almost 2 million copies in its first month. FO3 sold almost 5 million copies in its first 2 months. Skyrim sold 8 million copies in its first month. And you tell me that they dont have the money? Or worse, that they have less money that Obsidian so they cant pull up the same kind of stuff in their games? Thats not even counting the 8 DLCs of Oblivion, with its two expansions, and the 5 DLCs of FO3, and probably some percentage of FONV sales with its 4 DLCs that probably Beth got for the licence. According to the Entretainment Software Association, video game retail sales of 2006 were around the 7 billion dollar mark, where the video game retail sales of 2010 were around the 15 billion dollar mark. And Beth's sales show that they increased their profits in the same way as the rest of the industry, so dont go and tell me that they dont have the money cuz thats another lie that has no basis according to every sales number out there from their past 2 big releases (cuz they dont dare to publish sales figures of their DLCs).
-
If Obsidian could do an all round experience with both deep characters/story and an open and complex world, Beth surely can, its just not on their priority list. After playing FONV i dont believe that excuse of "You cant have deph on an open world!" Lies, or lack of skill to make it happen.

eltucu replied to ooofbaer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If you can edit the properties of the feathers, making them a 2D texture, i think it could be done. Unless the engine doesnt allows that mix up for armors. It does allows it for trees for example. Maybe they just put some inexperienced, through creative, guy in charge of making the Forsworn armors... -
I'd just equal skill gain to the total value of the materials used. So you'd only "exploit" the iron dagger thing on lower levels where skill poinst are gained more easily, then latter expanding your smithing into more costly (and complex) stuff. That said, you'd need to balance what kind of jewelry you can make since if im not mistaken, you can make Diamond Gold Necklaces no matter the smithing skill as long as you have the ingredients. Take in account that in lower levels is very hard to come across a Flawless Diamond anyway. Im sure you cant do that unless you have some way to dynamically adjust skill gain on-the-fly, though SKSE i assume, since i guess that Skyrim still uses the one to rule them all skill exp gain modifier for each skill.

Huh, bunch of Werewolves that arent intrinsically evil? Did you noticed that all The Circle is made up of Werewolves? lol TES Werewolves like to hunt, thats pretty much it. But they can, and some do like The Circle, make the effort of not making non hostile humans their prey (unlike Hircine, thats why the idea of ending up in his Hunting Grounds wasnt comforting at all). Some can go feral though, but the idea of only giving the "gift" to The Circle members was just that, to make sure tho give it to ppl who could handle it.
-
Huh, a way to make a full featured lich mod, or any kind of undead. Im pretty insterested in both Liches (hopefully something more Oblivionesque rather than with Dragon Priest's models) and Dragons for this sort of stuff. And to think that Odavhiing said that we would envy the Dovah for having wings :P Ppl could even make Druid like spells like transforming into a bear or something. Maybe a murderous tree :P

Some doubts, why the feathers in the armor dont react like say, the grass? Or better said, why they didnt made the feathers act like a grass texture/model? The grass in the game isnt modeled by two polygons placed very close but one single polygon that displays the same texture on both of its sides right? Or it is always one polygon for one side, and another for the another even in "2D" stuff like grass, leaves n such? -
They could make him make the voice of M'Aiq, but maybe that would change his personality a bit too much (M'Aiq is badass by himself, without talking like one). That said, it looks more like what Obsidian did with FONV followers. Giving them unique voice actors with unique personalities. Bethesda's use of voice actors is kinda... weak. Not that they dont use them extensively for meaningful characters (Ulfric and Esbern for example), but that those meaningful characters lose their significance pretty fast. So we'd see the character in the game more like Belethor. He's cool, but pretty meaningless and under developed, no one that could draw your attention more than 10min.
