  1. Not sure how much this will help, but I have had a similar issue. I could not wait past 8 pm in Cheydinhal. It seems that the event causing the crash only attempted to trigger when I was in that particular worldspace. Yours prob triggers if you are anywhere in Tamriel, so take a little vacation in the Shivering Isles for a few days, see what happens. Also take a good look at your unfinished quests/questlines. It could be a faulty event script set to trigger a set number of days after a previous event.
  2. Check the ownership of the furniture in question. The NPC must belong to the same faction that owns the furniture.
  3. If I remember correctly, "create ghost" and "rebuild patch" options are pretty close to each other. Seemed like an easy thing to do, and i'm not sure how else it could get there. Hope all is working well now.
  4. Not sure why it would create a ghost like that. I would delete the ghost, then rebuild the other one, just to be safe. If Wrye creates another ghost, I would not worry about it, as long as the game runs properly. But I am betting that you accidentally created the ghost yourself when rebuilding the patch.
  5. Streamsave does not overwrite saves like the vanilla autosaver does. When it makes a new save, it deletes the oldest one. 100% safe, and highly recommended. UL Compatibility Patches
  6. Short answer, no. But check your data folder to make sure that there aren't actually 2 there.
  7. To anyone still having this issue; Do not let windows auto-fill your username or password. Type it all manually. The next time you have to log in, auto-fill should work.
  8. A missing master was the first thing I thought of, but the Snow Elf mod does not list any dependencies. If this is truly the offending mod, then a missing master is unlikely. Caveat - the author has also not included much in the way of a description, and has blocked comments, so there really isn't really any support for this one. Deactivate the Snow Elf.esp to make sure that it is really causing the problem. OBMM is the easiest mod manager you could want to use. I install everything and manage load order via OBMM. But you will eventually need to use WryeBash for the BashedPatch alone. Wrye can do pretty much everything that OBMM can (and quite a bit more), so it seems redundant. But I really like the user-friendliness of OBMM for the things it is good for. The two compliment each other very well. Eventually you will find that you need a BashedPatch to keep things working smoothly. And that some mods are only available in OMOD format, requiring OBMM. Do not add a mod to your masterlist until you are sure that it works where you are putting it.
  9. The BOSS master list is a numbered list of all the mods that BOSS recognizes. It sounds like BOSS does not recognize that mod, and it is asking if you want to add it to the master list. The only downside to not adding it is that every time you run BOSS, it will end up at the bottom of your load order. As for the game crashing, try moving Snow Elves up a bit in your load order. You will need to use either OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) or WryeBash to manually adjust your LO.
  10. While I have heard people suggest that PYFFIing the meshes/textures will give a big performance increase, I have noticed that anybody who actually tried it said that it takes forever. I have also noticed that none of these people said that it helped much. I would not use Streamline with your rig. It was made to help low-end machines run the game by constantly tweaking the graphics settings to maintain a minimum FPS. On higher-end machines it can actually give you lower FPS (wish I could speak from experience, but I have this on good authority). But Streamline is modular. You should consider using the Streamsave and Streampurge bits. Streamsave is a configurable autosaver (NEVER use the vanilla autosaves), and Streampurge purges cell buffers to keep the RAM clean. You have probably already done so, but setting the Oblivion.exe as a trusted application with your antivirus and telling it to not scan files on access can help a lot with performance of modded Oblivion. Won't do squat for vanilla, though.
  11. TESCOSI is a great place to start. Solid tutorials on pretty much everything you will need to know. Most of the basics will also apply to Fallout 3 and NV, and Skyrim. But other games will do things completely differently.
  12. OSR and Streamline are perfectly compatible. The Streamline readme will tell you how to set things up. The IC Waterfront is probably the laggiest spot in the game. As such, I wouldn't focus too much on it. If everything runs fine most everywhere else, you're good. The big problem here is all the NPCs. The AI in Oblivion is poorly optimized, and puts a lot of strain on the CPU. If Oblivion was capable of using more than one CPU core, your rig would wipe the floor with it. But it was made before multi-core CPUs were commonplace. I doubt that you will see much of an FPS hit with RAEVWD. That will put some more load on your video card, but you should be able to handle it. If you use the OMOD, it will let you install only the packages you want. Most have very little impact. This is why Black Ninja sees a bigger FPS hit from FCOM. An FCOM install adds a lot of new enemies to the world. If you want to add variety to the enemies without any FPS hit, try using Fran's without the rest of the FCOM mods.
  13. Are you rebuilding the bashed patch each time you add/remove mods? The only reasons I can think of that would cause the game to crash after installing the UL patches are 1. not rebuilding the bashed patch 2. incorrect load order 3. having a patch for a mod you don't use. (missing master) The downside to not using the patches (without disabling corresponding UL mod) are primarily landscape issues. You will have things like trees growing from buildings, floating objects, and other overlapping statics. But you will also not be able to do some quests due to inaccessible dungeon entrances. I recommend trying to get the patches installed and working. Having to limit your mod selection to things that don't require patches with UL is going to be a real pain going forward. Discovery is correct, patching the OBSE exe will neither help nor hurt anything. I did it too. But unless your game was slowing to a crawl before it crashed, the 4gb patch will probably not fix the issue. I recommend using it anyways, but don't expect too much from it. I also recommend disabling OBGE and OBGE Liquid Water while testing. edit - This may sound silly at first, but run TES4LODGen. I very highly doubt that your problems are LOD related. But most problems that will cause a crash at startup will also cause the LOD generator to crash, but it prints a log that makes a pretty effective diagnostic tool.
  14. @ Drake  Yep, too much messing with Skyrim lately. Sounds like I should visit an old friend.
  15. Sounds like missing assets. Did you remember to rename the Fran's bsa to "FCOM_Convergence_FraNewItems.bsa"? It won't load otherwise, and that would cause something like this. edit - Also, you need Compatibility patches to use Unique Landscapes with OOO, Open Cities, Elsweyr, and others. Get patches here
  16. Here is an excerpt from a PM where I explained this process to someone in great detail.
  17. The best way to use bookshelves is to copy/paste them from a vanilla player home. Drag a box over a working bookshelf to select all items at once, then right click on any selected item and copy into a dummy cell. Delete all the things that were accidentally selected, then copy/paste into your house. Just remember that you will have to keep all items selected to move and rotate them all together.
  18. Ah, if the only ones that do not work are the ones that you opened then you will have to redownload those files. Windows can't recompile that mess into a usable esp. From what you said earlier, I thought that changing the association caused the game to not recognize any mods. Note - scripts are not part of the esp, they will be in a "scripts" folder, or packed in a bsa.
  19. If you do not already have the Construction Set installed, install it. If it does not automatically associate the .esp filetype with the CS, then you can fix it yourself the same way you changed it to notepad. Out of curiosity, what did you see when opening an esp this way?
  20. In the past, when a mod or author got a lot of trolling, hate, stupidity, whatever in their file threads it frequently led to them hiding or removing their files completely. Lost to the entire community. Look at the Elsweyr mod for Oblivion. One of the best mods ever, removed due to excessive pestering (to the best of my understanding). Being able to block the small but very vocal percentage of complete asshats in a good thing for everyone. I support any changes that give mod authors more control over our files. Why? Because it entices more authors to share their work here, and that is also good for everyone. And that brings me to this point. The Nexus is a place for mod authors to share our work with the public, not a place for the public to share their demands and frustrations with mod authors. The only thing we get out of it is the satisfaction of knowing that others enjoy what we have made. But in the end , the Nexus respects the fact that it is my work, and if I don't want to continue sharing it with a particular person, well, that's my business. I really hope that I never have to exercise the "nuclear option" and ban someone from my files, but I am glad that I can.
  21. Some of the UL mods do have quests, quite good ones. A Dark Forest quest that starts with a dream sounds familiar, but I don't run forest-based UL mods anymore due to performance issues, so I can't say definitively. But the name of the video leads me to think what I do. Scratch that, I just opened the archive for UL Dark Forest, and I see your three videos there. So that is definitely the offending mod. But I would also like to suggest that DF never did that for me when I did use it, so it is probably a weird conflict with something else you have installed. If you do not want to remove the mod, you will have to open the mod with the CS to find the quest id and quest stages, then you can use console commands to bypass said quest/stage entirely. Or scour the Dark Forest comment thread, there is a good chance someone will have posted the info you need there.
  22. I bet that it is UL Dark Forest. The "df" in the name, and the location south of imperial isle are giveaways. Also, Dark Forest does have a quest, as do a few other UL mods.
  23. TESAlliance has a good tutorial for first time house builders. I highly recommend it. And it covers doors, too. Happy modding!
  24. Welcome! I have found the tutorials at TESAlliance to be very helpful. They cover all the basics, and are pretty easy to understand.
  25. Just create the folders yourself. The filepath should be Oblivion/Data/Textures. Same for meshes, sounds, etc.
