    I have a question. If I were to include say, a bunch of meshes and textures from Dragonborn in a mod for Skyrim, how would I have to go about doing it? Could I just upload the meshes/textures separate from the Dragonborn BSA, archive, or would I have to make it dependent on Dragonborn somehow? (I assume by pointing the textures/meshes to Dragonborn.BSA archive instead.)Thanks!

    You may not include DLC meshes in BSA files, because people could extract those meshes and use them, without having bought the DLC. This would make it piracy, as people can technically download one of the many retextures out there, while using creation kit to reapply the original stats of the item.

     

    Instead, use creation kit and open the Dragonborn ESM file. Add for example a new armour by duplicating an existing armour appearance. Now edit this duplicate and choose to browse for a mesh. You should now see the mesh in a preview window. Left of the preview are texture paths, which when double clicked will let you use a different texture. To create a new texture file for creation kit, go to the proper tab, create a new texture decal and givr it the right paths to your texture files. When done, select that texture data in the mesh preview window. This way, creation kit can apply retextures to mesh without needing an edited mesh. You won't even need to use NIFskope this way and you'll not overwrite the original mesh and its texture paths.

     

    This trick is not well known, if at all and saves you a lot of large mesh files too. Maybe I'll make a tutorial for this. If makes editing meshes in NIFskope obsolete as long as the mesh is identical to an existing one.

     

     

    I am intending to replace plants in skyrim with plants from Dragonborn. And I was talking about making the .esp direct TO the dragonborn.bsa, that would not be 'pirating' because I would not be including the dragonborn.bsa, just making it dependent on it, like the moderator said.

     

    Also, what id it's a color edit of a dragonborn texture? Is there any reason I shouldn't be able to include that, as long as it relies on dragonborn for the mesh?

    Are there any money sink mods? Besides the (in my opinion) poor treasure vault one?

    Economics of skyrim makes you not NEED a money sink mod, and be set to be more or less 'hardcore'

     

     

    I utilize this, but with Skyre installed, as soon as you max Speech even it is obsolete.

     

     

    MAX? DO you not use community uncapper?

     

    And I think there is a gambling mod. Also, try turning the settings way up on SkyEco

     

    I don't know many mods like that to be honest. ^_^;

  5. AFT - Amazing Follower

     

     

     

     

    Is there a mod where you can make any NPC a follower using a dialogue choice? I know that there are options if you use the console, but I would like to find one that works like "Sharing and Caring Companions" from Fallout 3. Is there anything out there like that?

    I've been using UFO for forever and I've never seen a way to make an NPC who isn't normally a follower follow you. Does somebody know if this is true? I re-read the mod description and I didn't see anything about that.

     

     

    AFT lets you add any NPC as a follower, but you have to cast a spell on them sadly.
  6. I'm with toasty, I know I wouldn't mind putting the effort into making these into a 'proper mod', in fact, it could easily become one of the beast ones on the site if done right.
  7. I personally feel exactly the same! Morrowind was such an amazing alien game, it just sucked you in like nothing else out there! I'm actually working on a mod "More Alien Skyrim" to make Skyrim feel more that way.

     

    Here's an idea of my Load Order, and what I use to kind of get this realism and immersion effect. (Without staying to close to the feel of the original skyrim) THis adds a lot of cool stuff to find around skyrim, makes it feel more like Morrowind in general, and makes it very challenging yet balanced. I can be a made, a thief, a warrior, a hunter, or anything and the game still comes out balanced like vanilla, just with many more features!

     

    I use an 'edited' Superb ENB RL - I changed the settings around alot.

  8. I personally would go with SkyRe, used it forever, and never had any trouble with in, minus some minor mod incompatibility.

     

    But I haven't used the new ESRO yet, so I dunno.

  9. I would like a confirmation from s moderator or something; Are there any legal problems with including small (3-10 seconds) clips of a published song? I want to ask before I even start with this project.

     

    I don't know where else to go to ask this, sorry if there is a better forum for such a question.

  10. Weird. The file your using for the glowmap, is it named exactly the same as the main texture.dds with _g at the end?

     

    You should generally have these three files for a glowmap

    Texture.dds - Main File

    Texture_n.dds - Normal Map

    Texture_g.dds - Glowmap

     

    Even though I got it to work, I have to say it was a lot of hit n miss and I had no CK crashes.

  11. Mine did the same thing. It really pissed me off. I havew it set so it has to ask my permission to do anything, yet when I logged on the other day, it had ALREADY updated, not just started updating.

     

    And so far, after I updated SKSE, I haven't had much trouble, but I've been having some pretty bad lag with Tropical Skyrim, and my computer should NOT lag with something like that. In fact, this is the first time it's ever lagged on anything the entire time I've owned. But I am using one of the most taxing ENBs and some pretty high def armor.
