Coming back and looking for suggestions
nivea replied to Malikav's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
1. NMC 2. Classic Companion Configurator, Willow for a NEW female companion, Niner for a NEW male companion (I suggest both). 3. Do not know. 4. MTUI, The Weapon Mod Menu. 5. Anything by someguy2000 and dragbody. -
Afraid I do not know the terms very well as I normally do not dable in this kinds of nif stuff, I have edited the skeleton.nif by adding NiVisController ( like ##VisCtrlCollar ) and then have NiControllerSequences called rShepCollarOn and rShepCollarOff to turn the armor on and off through dialog in game. Resurrect doesnt do anything but make the dog show up without his armor sadly.

I am making a mod for Fallout 3 which lets you equip items (armor, bags, masks, ect) on Dogmeat, everything works correctly EXCEPT sadly the items disappear after fast traveling or leaving towns like Megaton. I have been banging my head against this wall for a while now and some people have tried to help me but no one seems to know what the problem is. So I thought it was about time to bite the bullet and make a post here yes this FNV forum but its more active and I hope to make a dog mod for FNV if this can be worked out. [Edit] Since people are pming me asking what I mean about NiVisController's, I have set up the armor meshes in the skeleton.nif and am using corresponding specialidle/idleanims to turn the dog's armor on and off. This all works as it should until I fast travel or leave a exterior world like Megaton, then the dog armor turns itself off/disappears. Pictures of it working: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/images/41590/?

A Kudo is like a thank you, or a good job. You give them to people who help you, mod you enjoy, or generally like.

I would love to see what FNV could have been if Obsidian have been given all the time and resources FO3 had, I think the land really suffered from that the most. But they still put out top notch characters and story. In FO3 at the characters have a reason to be insane, I mean the world ended and now everyone eats 200 year old Salisbury steaks with radiation up the butt. Thats the way I role play it at least, I am the only sane person because I have not been exposed to the rads yet. Not sure what the Skyrim peoples excuse is lol. XD

I didnt mind his work (though the spamming was annoying) or that he did alot of stuff, but its a shame he was warned before to not take things like that. A mistake can happen no problems there, but after you make the same one multiple times and get warnings I would then take steps to be extra careful. Or if I can not help myself then I would just not release anything. Shame it got to this point again.

Name any upper body NiTriShape/NiTriStrips you do not want to show up in first person Upperbody, this will make it invisible when in 1st person and visible when in 3rd. Things like boots and pants do not show up normally but if your having issues with them then name them Upperbody too.

Yeah this pretty much sums up my feels on Skyrim, I played it for like a month and then ran back to FNV lol. What Skyrim has better then FNV IMO: Horses Inigo Pretty to look at Thats it, everything else is below par compared to FNV and even FO3. Again IMO. FO3 is VERY different from FNV, but that does not mean it has nothing to offer. Writing and quests I feel are better then Skyrim but alot less then FNV, you should still play it though even if you can not get TTW to work.

Part of Mesh is not showing in game
nivea replied to Aranas23's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Is the beret rigged correctly, and does it have the correct shaders applied? -
You can always make your own super easy: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/46074/?

Well truthfully its made like that because of the retro design of the game, keep in mind its a 1950s kind of scifi not a modern day version. So its not going to be lore friendly unless it bends to 1950s or has a real reason why its so different from every other power armor. That said if you want to do it then go ahead and model it, UVmap it (texture it would be even better) and then release it as a resource or look for assistance after you get that far. There are TONS of tutorials out there for getting custom made armor into FNV/FO3, simply google Fallout New Vegas Custom Armor Tutorial and you suddenly have options to look at.

Hardest part of this whole mod would be making the armors for every body type with working dismemberment and VATS, that is alot of work which is why its never been done because your asking someone to pretty much remake every armor for males and females many times over lol.
-
Yup anything that is not already a working human armor will need to be rigged/"weight painted" to move with the human skeleton, you also have to change the shaders to be armor/clothing shaders for them to even show up in game. Try these Tuts: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Fallout._Part_1 https://sites.google.com/site/sickleyield/uf3clothingconversion

Invisible models with ENB
nivea replied to Fegeer's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Transparent can be completely invisible btw, you did try the known fix for that correct? FixTransparencyBugs=true to FixTransparencyBugs=false in the enblocal.ini -
Did you rig them, did you apply the correct shaders to them?
-
FOMM is still the best idea for FNV/FO3 since some mods can not be installed with NMM last I heard. I would skip BOSS and try LOOT instead, but yes BOSS works for FNV/FO3. I personally use Yukichigai Unofficial Patch, its the only bug fix mod that contains ONLY bug fixes. Mission Mojave is good and I used it before Yukichigai's, but it has more changes then just bug fixes in it.

Its a problem that does pop up, normally its either: 1. Race conflict, Roberts needs to edit the races to give new hand textures. If its being overridden then it will cause purple hands. 2. Custom race not set up to use Robert hand textures, fix by editing it in GECK. 3. Raider race made playable and not updated for Robert hands. 4. Not installed mod correctly.

I always get mixed results with that, sometimes the nif does not need it other times it does... and other times it ends up on the other side of my characters body lol. Oh nifs you so temperamental lol.

Make sure you update Tangent spaces, also rigged stuff doesnt always work like that you may have to go into blender and rig them ect. Spells -> Batch -> Update All Tangent Spaces
-
Yeah, but the question you should be asking yourself is: Can Blender or 3DMax read any of those files? Because you need to get them back into nif formats no matter what you use.

Does the SFM allow you to import and export .obj files, if so then it might be possible.
