  1. I haven't been on SKyrim for some time and I'm just coming back so I'm probably going to have to search up some more follower management/follower mods again. As for an interesting system for followers, a way to balance different numbers of followers, I'm wondering if there are any mods out there which allow your followers to be "killed" in any fight, however after some time, (let's say a week) you'll be told that they just ended up in a hospital or something and if you just find them they'll join you once again. I thought it was an interesting way to solve an issue of, what if you have too many followers, you don't really want to get rid of any, but as a result you and your band of 4 people completely overpower pretty much everything you meet? Even if followers are downed temporarily, as long as you get past the hardest part of a dungeon, however many people you have with you will just overpower any enemy you'll have to fight. The realism is nice in that, the Dragonborn should supposedly be allowed to bring whatever damn army he wants with him, but then again you don't want to walk into a dungeon, order a pizza, and come back to find the whole thing cleared by your platoon. If this isn't a thing, then I guess I should try to recommend it to a modder as some future addition?
  2. I recently saw a Brodual video which changed my expectations and impression of SSE. First I just thought this is a way for Bethesda to exert more power and control (which it does) over modding and future modding for its games, and didn't really offer much. While Skyrim right now has a huge assortment of problems, then again, we've been playing it for half a decade now. But I'm pretty sure people will end up deciding whether to switch or not..? I'm fairly certain I won't switch, despite that S:SE has some nice advantages. But what are the pros and cons, and where is modding headed with respect to S:SE right now?
  3. Ah! Thanks for this response. That's great. I'm not sure I'm willing to compromise with Bethesda's enchroach in SkyRE, however. Skyrim is problematic as is, but we've lived with it and people continuously find better solutions. Can you give me a guess as to how well an i7-5500U and 950M will do?
  4. Curious what specs people who run a rather heavily-modded Skyrim have on their systems. I don't mean if you run the new Nvidia 1080 though. I should rephrase a bit. What i'm really asking is based on your specs, would you say what you have is good, just right or insufficient? Do you have any games you would compare your rather-heavily modded Skyrim game performance-wise to? I'm planning on a gaming PC, but I'm centering it around Skyrim. Which says a lot about how much I still play and enjoy this game- So if there's a game, let's say, Hitman: Absolution ends up being pretty comparable performance-wise to a modded-up Skyrim, that'd be great information for me.
  5. Wow. This was surprisingly insightful and very accurate. I'm confident NMM knows how to manage what's upcoming for them.
  6. ENB will not match up to a fully integrated and applied directx 11 engine update. ENB will also likely be ported to SSE, like it was for Fallout 4 (and all the other games Boris adds it too as they come out) 4k resolution textures are also a bit overkill, it would be fairly hard to spot a difference between 4 and 2k textures unless you stared for the better part of a minute and got really close to your screen. Not something you are really going to notice in-game. Some people might decry this, but they fail to understand that not all textures are equal, as the author of the texture is the biggest factor, not the resolution. There are plenty of terrible 4k texture mods easily beaten by 1k and 2k textures from more skilled authors. Just upgrading something to 4k takes less than a minute and will yield no visual improvement but create several times the footprint on your memory. Tens of hours of work are required to make it look better than it did before, a higher resolution is simply a larger canvas, and after a certain point size stops mattering for potential visual improvement but can be catastrophic via creating large memory requirements that either software, hardware or both will fail to meet/allow. I'm generally quoting "4K" to emphasize that if you want good graphics, there's no reason to switch over to SSE in particular. The graphics in both SSE and ours are phenomenal.
  7. My concurring opinion. Not sure what Bethesda was thinking. Also, am I right to assume they didn't even consider fixing bugs in SSE? Because that would be dumb.
  8. That's interesting. I didn't know that. However, there's a few things Not everyone owns legendary or skyrim and all its DLC. Not all mods will be moved up to SSE. What advantage of x64 is so great? Isn't what we already have amazing? This is the most-modded games in history. There's only downhill from here if we move onwards. Splitting the modder base will likely evolve into really just ending the modding grace period we have had for many years. Furthermore, if what I've heard is true, the new SSE has limitations imposed by Bethesda. If this is true, SSE isn't as appealing as it is. I think people should be careful and intelligent about moving into SSE and taking people with them. The mods in SSE will be inherently limited. First ENB cannot compete with SSE I looked at SSE. I think our ENB's still look better. I show people pictures of Skyrim with mods and they have a hard time telling if it's real life or not. That's an incredible thing. By this scale, SSE offers little in an advantages vs. disadvantages chart. The greatest thing you're mentioned so far is our limitations to 4GB. That's about it. But then again, the people with the most expensive computers have been the ones running the game with a million mods and doing well with it. We've come up with memory patches and solutions.
  9. Welp I apologize for the useless use of "literally" in the title but I can't change it. This new SSE is just Skyrim.. but it looks better. I seriously don't understand. I really don't see the point. Our ENB and 4K mods are BETTER than this SSE. Our modders do better work and make better textures... The only advantage I see is that it's x64... but then again it's not like our skyrim really isn't already amazing. .____________________. Unless this new SSE is Skyrim as we know it, and allows us to mod Skyrim as we like, then there's otherwise literally no reason to move on. Not all old mods will be carried on over by modders who are done with modding. Skyrim is the most modded game in history. The number of mods we have is incredible.... and a massive portion could be incompatible with SSE. If that's the case... I further don't see the point moving to SSE. It's only good for my XO or PS4... where you can't mod... yet. Thoughts? I feel like I must be missing something since from a NMM user's perspective.... it makes NO sense. I could just get ENB and 4K mods... which not only may look better but could suit my tastes better but will at least preserve compatibility....
  10. No, their intention may not have been necessarily to barge in. The response from us was strong that we didn't want paid mods, and then we had the whole uproar fiasco where everyone pretended they cared for 2-3 months. But um wait what " the main menu will have the link to bethesda.net disable achievements from unlocking while mods are active " Are you f***ing serious? Can you show me the link But at the same time you're being to pessimistic. If this is really free, then it doesn't matter. Not only do I expect us to mod the hell out of it so that it becomes less of Bethesda's game. I don't get this new SSE. I really don't see the point. Our ENB and 4K mods are BETTER than this SSE. Our modders do better work and make better textures. SSE is a waste of time and money. It's not necessarily a nasty scheme unless it causes a divide. However what you can be sure we won't accept is any interference with our modding. If SSE does not let us mod the way we are now, not only will people not use SSE and stay with the current Skyrim, which is perfectly fine, Bethesda is creating SSE for two people: Console players on XO and PS4, and people who haven't discovered that you can mod the game. But if they're actually restricting us, disabling achievements, holy hell will I be mad. But then again i just won't play SSE. There's no damn point... it's basically skyrim with mods...
  11. Do you have any hidden Skyrim mods that were never really phenomenal or are on some top list, but are in fact, really great mods? Share 'em here. They don't have to be particularly small or big, but they're mods that probably deserve more attention than they get. Better stealing -I never understood how everyone immediately knew exactly what you had was stolen and what wasn't, making selling an apple impossible. Who would know the merchants of Skyrim really communicated that well with farmers and residents? If you think that the Skyrim map gets too cluttered -Which it does.... So you can also ask if people know about specific mods around here. Personally, are there any mods which let us forget locations or de-clutter our Skyrim map in any other way? There are nice ones which color map markers- those actually are a big help though.
  12. I'm all for SSE, but.... I'm pretty sure... our mods are... well... better... if all they're doing is updating the graphics... well... just... download an ENB mod and some 4K trees right?
  13. People here who tell you installing mods isn't a pain are lying to you and themelves- I just have to mention. They only say installing mods from this site is easy because they've suffered through hundreds of hours of wrestling with bad mods and installing them. And so out of this incredible process we are all reborn as people who can finally understand how modding Skyrim works.
  14. Hi. I'm just curious if people have heard of the story that sometimes, the USEP patches (Unofficial skyrim patches) can end up causing more problems than they fix. Is there any verity to this? It may not be wrong just because you have not heard of it, so i'm especially interested if anyone knows about this.
  15. So I think we've all encountered this problem with mods before- You install a mod which seems to work fine, but then...... you reach an area, or load an item, and it causes a CTD. I was thinking.... is it possible to create a mod which just outright brute-force tests many possible CTD items, locations, people and instances? I think it's about time people on NMM gave everyone outright tools for CTD and mod glitch testing...?
  16. Huh? What's that? Please inform me. I'm interested.
  17. Thanks so much. Can you tell me where you found this?
  18. I just got a neat new computer meaning I can finally play I have an i7 5500u 2.5 ghz and geforce 950m, just in case you wanted to know generally what kind of comp I have I heard for all these years about ENB's, and i've seen pictures, but I really don't know how they work. I tried them at some point on my old computer but couldn't understand how to get them to work. Does anyone have suggestions for a new skyrim setup involving ENB's or explanations of WHAT enb's and their related mods are, or what they do....?
  19. I have a new idea for Skyrim's balancing I got the idea from how Runescape is balanced- Mages deal extra damage to swordsmen in Runescape because- well, armor is metallic, generally. The heat from fire is conducted into the metal. I was thinking electric spells should actually do a bit more damage to enemies wearing heavy armor in Skyrim, considering the armor's metallic nature. For instance, cloth would be more of an insulator. Let me explain my ideas in more detail. The whole magic system could be reworked, but I think a mod could fix most problems just by balancing destruction. Fire is really the only spell I ever use. i can't possibly care to drain the magicka from other mages with lightning especially considering their expensive mana cost. Frost is useful- however regardless, I still tend to use fire. Destruction magic spells- fire, ice, and lightning should do more damage to enemies wearing light and heavy armor. As some light armor isn't metallic, spells affect light armor with damage. I feel magic needs a buff, because playing on difficulties like Master is extremely hard, nevermind legendary. You can't get through the game easily unless you want to abuse glitches, which some people do. However, enemies wearing heavy armor are more so affected by lightning spells. This means lightning is the best type of spell to use against heavy armor. In fact, enemies wearing heavier armors should be more affected by lightning spells. This is intended so that lightning will serve as a good counter to some unstoppable hammer smashing one-shotters. I don't know if ice spells should be made more effective against enemies who have heavier armor, or lighter armor. I suppose with some thought, someone can figure out a good balance. It's also okay to just leave ice the way it is- the vanilla leaves enemies crawling at the speed of an iceberg, which is pretty good. Fire spells should be more effective against clothed enemies- it totally makes sense. Cloths should burn, shouldn't they? I suppose you can either reduce the damage dealt by fire on heavily armored enemies, and slightly reduce damage dealt on light armored enemies- or you could increase the burn damage and duration on enemies with cloth armor, and slightly increase burn duration and damage on enemies with light armor. If this becomes a mod, please tell me! Sadly these days I've given up on Skyrim where it's at right now until I get a new computer, which will be soon, so that's why I don't check this site so much. Would appreciate it if someone put thought into this and found a way to create a very compatible mod that was good at rebalancing Skyrim's destruction mechanics in a smart way like this. Mods that are too complicated..... simply suffer from the pitfall of being too complicated.
  20. Huh. Thanks, I totally didn't notice the lack of a gpu thingy. I simply looked up "asus zenbook ux306la" though and.. I dunno. It looks like it's supposed to be a portable, like the dell xps 13. This is what I've found though http://www.anandtech.com/show/9104/asus-zenbook-ux305-review/5 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ZenBook-UX305.126137.0.html Basically bad news? Sorry I don't know myself.
  21. I HIGHLY recommend going to bleepingcomputer.com (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/229/windows-10/) Bleeping just don't lack enough experts. The nexus is great, but don't make your decision here. In short, bleeping comp says no. Too many installation errors. But here's my opinion. Do you hate windows 7 or something? If not, then seriously, don't. I never imagined how bad W8 would be. Never. Wait until Microsoft SERIOUSLY fixes W10. I know W10 has some great features that even I want, but above all else, I just want to go back to W7.
  22. Couldn't find help in some other forum, hoping that you guys can help out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013KKANTE?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=1194e5815cc24042967753ddcbb2c292 Can anyone tell me if this is a decently capable laptop? I know i'm missing out on storage space, however I do have more than enough external HDD's. For instance, can I play Skyrim with high graphics, or either with mods that have good graphics? Like.... I would LOVE to be able to run some nice ENB's. How is the display? For most people, is 13.3 decent? Really, this laptop is for college. But I would not want it to be incapable of playing a good game every now and then. Most thing that I'm playing are really just games from before 2012. Not planning to do a whole lot of ARMA 3, or Star Citizen on uber ultra maxx. TR:2013 (I don't even have this game, but i'm just wondering. I kind of want to get it. How will I do?)Alien: Isolation (Don't even have it, same story) Bioshock infinite-Doesn't have to be max graphicsBorderlands 2-Right now, I can only run BL2 on low....... And of course, Skyrim! What could this laptop do for Skyrim?
