Heh, I think you underestimate the draw SSE is going to have.
-
Except it requires none of this and we already had a working example of that in April of 2015. You're literally making stuff up.

Quite sure. I wasn't the only person to get developer responses for things. I honestly wonder just how many people making comments about this have actually tried to USE their forums, despite them being woefully inadequate as a forum package.

Dunno about him, but I view Bethesda.net as a net positive influence because it's made the developers and staff more engaged. Before you go and laugh yourself silly, consider that in various threads, it's not unheard of for one or more of their team to show up and answer a question or participate in the general flow of things. I think this is largely due to the fact that they know they need to in order to make console modding the success they want it to be. Now, granted, Jive sucks and was probably one of the worst packages they could have chosen, but they've realized this and have already publicly stated they're moving to something else. As for moderation, I think you guys are all living in the past. Things changed. People are getting booted, mod theft is down to a trickle after the Steam ID link became enforced, and nasty comments are being removed on a regular basis. They still have improvements to make, but they've made plenty so far. Those of us with attention spans longer than a gnat have actually noticed this  Nobody can seriously think the Steam forums are more professional though. That's like the one thing that would have been worse than Jive.

"wah, wah- I want money" post on Gamasutra
Arthmoor replied to zanity's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
yes they also warned people before hand.... and didnt increase the price for people who had already purchased it. And this would be exactly the same logic used when paid mods return. They'll announce the availability of them, and make it crystal clear they're optional, and that nobody has to pay for the ones they already have. You just made our point about how these things actually work. -
Fallout New Orleans trademark registration - real or fake?
Arthmoor replied to LadyMilla's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Also, here's another possible plot twist nobody is considering: What if it's legit, but it's for a card game like TES Legends? -
Fallout New Orleans trademark registration - real or fake?
Arthmoor replied to LadyMilla's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'd much rather they didn't and let Obsidian go back to what they actually do well, which is not free form open world games. As for this trademark thing, it makes no sense to ONLY register it in the EU. Why would they not have done so in the US first if it was real? -

He's being realistic and reasonable with his expectations, that's what  -
Noticed the same problem on both of these mods pages too, none of the image load. The slots are simply blank. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77824/ http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77809/

BSN is shutting down; files there could be lost.
Arthmoor replied to Tarshana's topic in Site Support
You could pick up a copy of the game on GoG if nothing else. DA:O is available there now and it's patched up to version 1.05 already. Always safest to keep your own backups of stuff though. -

Never happen. "We will never allow paid mods again" wouldn't even cross the threshold of importance. Any lawyer who took the case on your behalf would only be in it to bleed you dry of funds because they already know they can't win that. All Bethesda would have to do is say "we changed our minds and it's a thing now" and there you go. Besides, I don't recall ever seeing Hines put out a blanket statement saying they'd never do it again. Just statements that can be construed as "not right now". -

I find it ironic that if you substitute the word "game mod" for "book" in your "counter example" that it would fit perfectly, because, well, it's the reality of it. They're even in the same class for copyright purposes. Bethesda's pre-production cost is developing the game you're modifying. Their post-production cost is the infrastructure for the digital storefront you'll be selling through. They aren't going to let you have license to touch their stuff without being compensated for it. Without their consent and approval, you get 0%, because there is no such thing as a wholly original work that uses their IP. -

No, it actually doesn't. Regardless, zanity is just posting more conspiracy laden drivel from an anti-choice standpoint. -
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (UFO4P) takes an arrow in the knee.
Arthmoor replied to Arthmoor's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It was a bug on Bethesda's side. They had "old code" embedded in an AI procedure routine that was exposed to the CK and we managed to stumble over it. We were told what the issue was and removed our AI pack as a temporary measure. They have since fixed the underlying cause with beta 1.7 so there is no further issue to be had should someone else end up stumbling over it. 1.6 and 1.0.4c are perfectly safe to use together (and we made that quite clear). -
*crickets chirping* Such a wonderful company these nVidia guys....

Where Does the Negativity Come From?
Arthmoor replied to CourierandWanderer's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Except I rather enjoyed it, even if I did get bogged down in a lot of settlement crap along the way. So yes, it's not only playable, but enjoyable as well. See, there's a lot of us who actually like their games but get sick of hearing from the minority about how bad they supposedly are at everything. If this were true, they'd have failed as a developer the way Obsidian did and would have had to come to beg from the public the same way to be able to go back and try one last time to redeem themselves. Anyway, the point is, you have your opinion, I have mine, and everyone else has theirs. It only looks like negativity when the same people show up to bash the company every time. -
In response to post #40671960. #40689680, #40841275 are all replies on the same post. Conspiracy theories are lame.

Where Does the Negativity Come From?
Arthmoor replied to CourierandWanderer's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm not a thrall of anyone nor a fanboy of Obsidian. But truth to tell, their stories are better in my opinion, if that's OK with you. Better than the ones of Bethesda in any case. And I'm not basing that solely on FNV, but also on NWN 2 and Pillars of Eternity. Pillars of Eternity was their one big exception, but notice something. That's not an open world RPG. It's very much a tightly controlled linear story game unlike NWN2 (which was total s#*!) and unlike NV. When they have to loosen control and allow the player to drive the story more, they blow it badly. -
Where Does the Negativity Come From?
Arthmoor replied to CourierandWanderer's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
IMO this only seems to be the consensus in a very few select places. The wider audience does not tend to agree that Obsidian is any better or worse at this than any other company out there. I for one didn't find anything they did in NV to be very compelling and it was pretty obvious they were trying to pull a Bioware with faking different choices when ultimately it all ended more or less the same way. Quite frankly I see a lot of Obsidian's supporters as little more than thralls who don't know any better. -
Where Does the Negativity Come From?
Arthmoor replied to CourierandWanderer's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
See that's the problem though. For most people, "sarcastic" or "mean" or whatever has little to no meaning. Even if they just gave you a glimpse of how the line would be delivered it would be more than enough. The choice isn't binary between meaningless label and the full dialogue line. I think CDPR struck a good balance with the Witcher series in that you had enough of an idea of how the response would play out based on the words they chose for each one. Something like that would have worked out much better for FO4. -
Packaging a BA2, not through CK
Arthmoor replied to Deleted82156User's topic in Fallout 4's Creation Kit and Modders
Unfortunately it won't do that zilav. You have to build the archive for each one individually. It doesn't matter if that's the "Main" or the "Textures" archive. Compression ratios on the files are different for each. You can't trick it either by putting the PC archive in the XBox folder because the CK will simply ignore it. -
Where Does the Negativity Come From?
Arthmoor replied to CourierandWanderer's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Understanding series purists is impossible. Best policy is to just ignore them. You'll get a lot of people telling you "FO4 isn't Fallout" but then they won't be able to articulate why that's supposed to be the case. Yet, when you play, it very plainly is because it has all of the expected elements of a Fallout game in it, along with new stuff that was added. About the only thing most everyone can agree on is that the dialogue tree system is garbage and limits the potential for not only the game itself but for modding as well. I don't even have an issue with a voiced player considering every other good RPG in recent memory has that and it doesn't destroy the game, but the way the dialogue selection works is garbage, and was garbage when Bioware started using it years ago. Not everything should get emulated  -
Not when the contest rules specifically stated you needed written permission from the contributors. It's a legal thing to protect nVidia though, not each other. By entering the Contest, Entrants represent and warrant that they have obtained all of the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from any person who may have helped create the Entry Yep, that's exactly what I just said.

That's not how it works. Ummm... yes it is, if the author gives blanket permission providing credit is given. Not when the contest rules specifically stated you needed written permission from the contributors. It's a legal thing to protect nVidia though, not each other.
