  1. Use Lydia, as she just loves to carry your burdens. THen get the 2 ear ring mods, the circlett with helm mod, the lip rings, nose rings, ear cuffs, tail and kajiit ears. plust the normal spaces and you have 16 locations you can enchant with 40 extra carry units each. She'll be able to carry enough food to sustain herself for weeks. ;) THen if you use the follower mod, it makes them a pack mule and carry 1000 units. Total, your dear, and ever so sweet, house sitter can carry almost 2000 units of your burdens. counting your few palty items you decide to adorn yourself with, just short of 2500 units of stolen, obsconded, pilfered, waylayed, blackmaled, imbezzled, laundered, murdered for, robed for, and on the rare occasion, earned...that you may transport. By the way, that 2000 units could be PER NPC you have under one of the NPC mods. You can make them wait somewhere and use the mod command to summon them when you are finished with the dungeon (thing), load them all up and tell them to go home (asign them a spot in front of your favorite shop as home). They are already tagged as essential so they just walk home loaded to the dimples with all your most recently collected artifacts. THen you can keep going on your merry way and sell all your "trinkets, odds and ends, and that sort of thing" when you are just about done playing for the day. If you have a stack of something, like say 20,000 pieces of iron ore in a stack. You can pick it up like moving it, keep your finger on your select button and carry it weightless (hanging in front of you) as long as you dont go over extremely bumpy terrain. If you do, It then will drop and usually falls through the mesh and hangs there or hits and slides about 2 miles because of the game physics. It works with any stacked items of 6 or more.
  2. Vanilla Skyrim was old 30 days into its gameplay. It was worn out, mundain, repetative and predictable. It was blotchy and broken. It did however have a great community following. Modded Skyrim, is much different. Its still worn out, but has nice colorful cross stitches with new patterned fabrics. Its still mundain but now has the rare joyful flashes of excitement. Its Extremely repetative until you change it. Predictability is hard to overcome, but some randomness is introduced. Its look changes with each generation of modder working on and off the previous - smoothing out and repairing the gameflow and look. It still has a great community following and now an army of talented modders who keep this game alive inspite of Bethesda or STEAMypile
  3. ... but I don't want my legs bitten off!! ;) The sinking into the terrain often happens when mountaineering or when you summon your NPC's with one of the follower mod support "spells". If you get submerged into the floor, hop or use TCL from the console and walk back up. If you use TCL make sure no other ID code is on your screen once in the console or it/they will get the "benefit" from no collision. As always, make a game save prior to using and console codes.
  4. with 250+ mods running it could be a multitude of problems. To go through each mod for compatibilities and your system configuration/hardware would be a nightmare. Try going to STEAMypile and validate your game files. The validation can repair a lot of crazy problems. The problem you are having could be caused by something as simple as an NPC mod. I'm not saying it is, but to point out that you said you don't see how. Scripts running and then not finding its intended associated files or poorly written ones can and do cause havoc. Even deleting the mod does not remove these bits of programming code. It could be an item or equipment that has spawned in that area now causing the problem. Overlapping mesh from structures or caves. It could be weather, music, lighting (ENB's) or HD revamps. It could be a game version incompatibility. It could be something even simpler, like your load order. Here's a long but incredibly informative document. IT was approved by the ADMIN here at NExus and was authored by missjennabee. It has information that is vital to all PC game play, especially modded games. I wish you luck in this venture. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/753253-only-you-can-prevent-forest-fires/
  5. Is your running Skyrim game a legitimate copy? If not I recommend getting one. If it is, goto STEAMypile and validate your game files. IF that doesn't fix the problem, then you have probably downloaded body/beauty mods that are incompatible. It sounds like the latter is the case. If that is true, the simplest way to fix it would be a new game load. Theres about 5 different common body mesh type available. THeres additional equipment mods , some only suitable to specific body types. Then, of those types, there are variants. Its like a puzzle. Just because the piece has all the right colors and looks similar in shape doesn't mean its goint to fit. I wish there was more to give you for help.
  6. THe imperials are puppets in Skyrim. THey bow down to "Thalmor Supremacy". The Thalmor are worse then the Nords. The Thalmor are invaders and have a quest to enslave all others inclusive. I am not saying Stormcloaks are right, but loking at the two sides, I'd never assist anyone having them as allies. Even the problems with the MAges college is due to one of their kind. THey strive for complete and ultimate power and authority. They are above the laws and walk freely with arrogance. If you take them out of the picture, the imperials plight is worthwhile and commendable. Uniting the lands would be a good thing, but make for boring game play. (conversation between Ulfric and Galmar Stone-Fist) Ulfric, the Jarl Balgruf of white run refuses to sign the trade treaty until he can get more ink for his golden pen. Galmar, He is a true Nord. He'll get his ink. Ulfric, he will not come around, we need to take more action and send him a message. My friend, do you want me to bleed my ink over his document? Tear the corners and cheapen its look? No, but he needs to be taught a lesson. To insure his stock is full and provisions pleantiful. Here, take him my pen to him. He will know what it means. IF he returns it, well, then,,, we'll just have to start another version of this trade operandum and hope he gets the ink he deserves.
  7. several alchemists carry them periodically. Like other rare items, the chance is lower then normal. There is a console command to get you one if you really need one. player.additem 85500 1 <--- replace the one with five and get five...etc..etc make sure to game save before using console commands... just in case something goes wrong. EDIT: Here's a mod I found that might help http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9037
  8. Another great trick to get FPS is to open your Task Manager and click the Process tab. Highlight and delete the entry steam.exe. It will disconnect you from their leachy tendrils, allow you to play with out being forced to shut down at their whim during your game play, and net you up to 12 fps in game. (maybe more if you are on a lower end game) Do it while the loader window is still not full screen. Several months back they trapped your mouse to prevent this. But it still works. They don't want you do be disconnected from the collective. They are borg.
  9. Be careful what you load and read ALL the documentation for the DLC. It is going to reak havoc on your modded game. Thats from the guru's at Bethesda. Most pople who load it will be inundatiung the forums with help to fix their games. IT will be the same as always with one exception. There are no so many people helping these days and you may find the only solution is to abandon, delete and reload the entire game. THen you'll have to trouble shoot what mods will and wont work with your game. THere is going to be a game update prior to it. WE all will be subjected to it. My guess is the update will be the culprit and we wont have a choice. Even turning STEAMypile off will still require you to get an involuntary update because STEAMypile knows whats best for you.
  10. Georgigril it's so wonderful that they offer additional content isn't it? I mean, instead of fixing the original issues with a somewhat broken and badly ported game. A DLC to fix and really make the game a PC game would probably sell more DLC copies then all the others combined. Imagine getting a complete game from bethesda (even at the cost of user liberties... ie STEAMypile). One where menu structure worked, no graphical problems with AA, shadowing, rendering, light limitations, physics and input device options. indepth story lines that follow the timeline of events and not a repetative 4 (average) choice reply from NPC's. Oh the dreams of the fading PC gamers. We can still dream, right?
  11. without knowing anything about your system, I would say its probably not on the high end, I could be wrong. Populated cities is a good mod and I run it myself. I also know when I tested it with a ATI hd 5700 it killed my system. You are running some large mods there. Water being one, an ENB, Climates, wet and cold...and some others. As I said, some of these mods are not bad, but you might just be out of video memory or system resources. The stutter can be related to your system not being able to render al lthe items its trying to locate and plot. You have a lot of effect mods listed at the bottom of your post. In testing, disabling mods does not necessarily remove its effects from your game. some game files could have been overwritten. Also, check to insure you have al lthe pre-requisites for your mods. You might think you have them all, but at each version change or software update, mods can just stop working as they once did or as expected. Try turning down , as a test, all the game settings to LOW and see what happens.
  12. Not all quest stages work properly if you console them in. Also items and quest fragments will become orphaned in your save game and your journal. You also may end up with "static" items in inventory you are unable to rid yourself of. Console command quest advancement should really only be used when you are unable to complete a questline "legitimately". Its sad to lose all the time and equipment and resources because of game glitches, but we all have been there and do know the pains you are experienceing. If you do decide on console advancement, I hope it fares well for you. :)
  13. Vista OS is a horrible operating system at best. Make a back up of your DATA folder under... C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim and also your game save folder under ..... C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Then reinstall the game. Copy your original data and saves folders to the working locations and your game shoud be ok. ( I would back up the original folders you are about to overwrite so you have a clean vanilla back up). As a side note, if your gams is working fine I would remove bash'd resources before making my original backups and just keep the original files on your system. If you have done ini tweaks, save those as well. Custome keys mapping might also be lost. It seems complicated, but really about 6 simple steps. Good luck and have fun with your new load. :)
  14. In an earlier post elsewhere by SlayingMellow ( http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/473301-fix-for-flickering-shadows-also-how-to-change-the-way-shadow-timescaling-and-sun-position-intervals-works ) a few parameters are changed in the Skyrim.ini file to help with a problem similar to what you are experiencing. It was suggested by the OP that fSunShadowUpdateTime=25 fSunUpdateThreshold=1.5 Martian1 posted (and worked better on my game at the time) fSunShadowUpdateTime=20 fSunUpdateThreshold=1 Theres also a link for the shadow striping interior if you are still experienceing that shadow problem As a side note, try and update your graphics driver first to see if you can cure it with better software technology. Write down your version number in case it causes other unwanted problems so you can defer back later it needed.
  15. LOL, We are all nameless heroes. I did...uhm.. play KoT....... I JUST CAN"T SAY IT. I'm a closet player. I am ashamed of my armor and magical boots. KoTN (kitten of the nip?) wasn't near as bad as Sheogorath Slobbering Isle fiasco... Or the DLC's For Skyrim. As per Merriam Webster online : Lore = a : knowledge gained through study or experience. b : traditional knowledge or belief. c: a particular body of knowledge or tradition Seeing the FIRST definition is just random intervention between 2 (or more) things, objects, critters, people then I would have to retract my statement about lore. It seems Bethesda did get it right. An by definition, Lore can be anything repetative or not, related or relayed history or not, stories or legends or not. a concise history you can build on....... or not. WOOT!!! Lets here it for KoTN (and Skyrim to Oblivion and Oblivion to morrowwind, and morrowwind to DAggerfall, and Daggerfall to Arena and Arena to..... Lore - Go learn something new in the game, or new to your Dragonborn, Alternate start following denizen or active citizen. I guess I can thank RighthandofSithis and MidbossVyers for opening my eyes. I can honestly say I am Loreful good. ;)
  16. Bethesda can stop it. They often do. They can't even keep their own lore straight, time line correct, or races accounted for. THey certainly have no ability to keep artifacts constant or gameplay smooth.
  17. usually any graphics card ending with 60 or less is a not so good card. when you get down to 50 and some cases 40, you really are dealing with OEM cards that have been "magically" upgraded by the manufacturer or significantly fail at higher performance and are locked to work. The 70's and up are your performance cards. Some 60's are ok, but go look at shaders, cores and base clock speeds. you may find that some of these cards are boosted with overclocking already (thus part of the manufacturers magic) Try to not use a system for high end gaming the shares video memory. You lose some memory in the instruction translation but more importantly, valuable bandwidth as data needs to flow across the DMA and main bus. You also should insure your PCIe port is a 16x slot and not 2 shared for 8x. The Hard drive speed and access capability is usually not very good on generic prefab PC's. Look for a SSD drive or at least a hard drive with 32M cache and 7200RPM or better. Your memory will have numbers called (generically) latency. Like 24,24,24,8 (or others). Typically, the lower the better , but not exatcly a truth. For the layman, lower = better, usually means better performance. MAke sure you don,t skimp on your power supply. Stable and clean power ~20% greater then what you are required to have will give your power supply a long and fruitful life. A cheap power supply usually ends up not having good rectifiers or filters. Small ripples or voltage spikes over time will kill your system. The case is also important. know what cooling you are going to use and insure the cables do not interfere with air flow. Factory fans seldom have thte CF/m (cubic feet per minute) of airflow and are typically noisier then a day care. look for fans under 25Db (sound levels) and ultimately push a combinded volume of air approximately 200CF/m (preferably more and not counting the power supply fan, cpu fan, or GPU fan). The average fan being about 40. Insure the airflow is directional without fans fighting each other for flow or exhaust. Give the exhaust of your case space where you set it. If you have multiple hard drives, connect them on different channels so they dont fight for the SATA bus on that channel. Don't put a CD Drive on your game HD channel. Onboard sound shares the DMA channels, data bus and will swallow extra CPU clock cycles. A Sound card only needs an instruction sent and manages a lot of the digital number to sound crunching on its own. AS a final note - over clocking is more then just tweaking the main bus clock, the memory clock and upping your GPU a few extra Hz. If you truely dont understand what you are doing, what voltage, current, frequency and watts are especially in reference to heat, then my suggestion is to never do it. If, on the other hand, you take the time to learn why some speeds are multiples of others and what levels become unstable but not detrimental and what cooling really does, then by all means start cranking out performance while sumbmersed in mineral oil or bathed in liquid nitrogen ;)
  18. "swim" back to the edge of a water area and swim over a boulder or outcropping. You should pop back down to your normal stance.
  19. There are no moral alignments in Skyrim.... Even the Draugr aren't evil. They are protecting a lair you broke in to raid. The Draugr don't traverse the vaste openness, swarming down on hapless individuals or villages. You do. The Dragon born seems to be the birth of all the tyranny. Even Alduin came to you at Helgen. There was unrest, but no cival war until you nosed in. The Assassins guild was broken. The thieves Guild was non-existant. The mages College was holding on but your doings were the basis of all the problems with the items of MAgnus and evil spawn being released onto an already broken town. Even still, you were the cause of the Psijic order to become concerned. You unsettled and destroyed several people in your quest for daedric artifacts, committed countelss crimes from petty to murder. You robbed, slayed, killed and sacrificed the innocent. You even overthrew the hand that fed you first (Jarl Balgruuf). You either attempted to destroy the leader of the Greybeards or ended and ancient faction bound to protect you. You left a swath of dead critters in your path, often taking just its fur or nothing at all. You lead a group of ancient bloodlined companions with extremely questionable backgrounds and then you have the opportunity to back stab them all and end their reign. You over throw a town from the inside with apparent mad men and enjoy the taste of manflesh as if ambrosia. You align yourself with multiple daedra, even in opposition to protectors of humankind and of each other. You break in, perform multiple murders, and pillage an estate of an ambasador. You release prisoners without any care for the law or their guilt. You bribe guards, steal crops and rob private buisinesses utilizing the dark and shadows as your allies. You take resources from civillian dwellings, the poor, and from crafting stations. You create and use poisons and guide any of your, until now, innocent followers down your path of mayhem and destruction. You have feelings of guilt and help out a homeless farmer but slay a civillian seeking to arm himself to defend his homelands. Destruction of innocent nobles doesn't make you flinch. You kill a princess with extreme predjudice on her wedding day and slay an emporer after an enlightening and heart fealt conversation with him. You then rob his body to dawn his robes prior to his body turning cold. You are the DragonBorn. MAybe you and Alduin are one and together the world will in fact fall. So, is there an alignment? I would say no. Unless TRue Neutral is what you seek. But then, your not exactly neutral either.
  20. I am older but not "old". I always played "retro" games. Even back in the early 90's. We had a commodore 64 that I used back then that was left in a box in a house we moved to. It had some games and a working floppy drive as 9 and not 8 as I recall. Load "game",9 <--- hehehe - THen later we had gotten an IBM 4.77mhz (8mhz turbo- with a shiny green light that went on when you pushed the Big red turbo button) BEAST of a system. it had a 10 Meg hard drive (about the size of a shoe box) and I think 128k of discrete chip memory with a 5.25 floppy drive (single density of course) I played Adventure (text version) as my first game ever. I was hooked even at an early age. My first real role play/adventure graphic game was probably Telengard. I did have and play Sword of Aragon, Pool of Radiance and Wizards Crown.
  21. Text game "Adventure" hooked me when I was really young, then Zork1&2 Other games (there was a Commodre 64 with a huge floppy drive. IT was long left forgotten I don't even know who's it was. Mine I guess at the point ;) Barbie (who wouldn't love to dress up and date Ken  ), Legacy of the Ancients, Bards Tale (good old Skara Brae), Wizards Crown (pesky white rabbit), Vikings, Seven Cities of Gold, PC games early on All the AD&D games. Mapping them all out was a thrill. Of course Ultima series up to and including UO (beta tester) and Everquest (beta tester) I own a working Commodore 128 and an Atarii 2600 (with 32 game cartridges) - favorites : Galaxia, Circus, Adventure, Riddle of the Sphinx
  22. THe system you list is a pretty decent system for mobiles. But, like all mobile devices, they limit power and raw data crunching ability. It has dedicated video memory - very nice for a mobile. That in itself puts it far ahead of other laptop type devices. The problem is, the GPU it has. The 460M is not a bad processor, but you have extremely limited use cores. The data channels just are not wide enough to push sustained data rates of games written like Skyrim when heavily modded. You still have a modified mobile bus sharing normal data, graphic instructions and all sound functions. Also depending on your hard drive capacity, your drive might be running at 5400 rpm. Even at 7200RPM your system bencharks at about 540 ticks out of 3000+. (ticks = operations per second : as per PAssMark Software last rated on 14 Jan 2013) Similar quality graphics GPU/Cards A Radeon HD 5770 tops out at 788 and a GeForce GTX 550 ti tops out at 829 (both about 50% higher operations/sec) The point here is a comparison to what you have -vs- what you are trying to do. You may be able to get what you have run, but you might not be running smoothly or efficiently. Here's my suggestion. Blow the game completely off your system by an uninstall. Defrag your hard drive then reboot it. Do a brand new load and start a new game. Your old saves could very well be corrupted so I would not use them at all. Try loading only one mod at a time and save your data folder before each mod load. You can see when performance drops and what mod causes it. You also can try different combinations of your mods to see if they play nicer on your system then others. Here's a guide for optimal performance on a GeForce GPU : http://www.geforce.com/optimize/guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide#1 I did not write this to pick on your hardware. I think that device is a decent one for gaming. I am just trying to help you out with what you wanted to do with your equipment. I hope you find something useful here and you get back to cheating dragon priests out of their Word Walls :)
  23. Trooper don't worry about your hardware. Someone will always say wait , you'd save more $$. Just wait 3 more years, that 7000 series card will be $50. How long do you want to wait to get the performance you desire. I purchase and assemble hardware systems for trade shows. I always purchase top of the line components for a 3-day to a 2-week show. These components are often not needed and sometimes way over kill. For the extra $$ I am spending at the time, I am guaranteed my systems will not fail, will outperform the demands and not leave me teary eyed in front of a board of directors with a thousand I'm sorry's that amount to nothing. Even my sad green eyes won't sway financial backers when a multi-million dollar display fails because I didn't want to spend the extra $75 on a component. Buy what you can up to the limit of your funds when you do want buy something. If you are ready to purchase new hardware, go for your reasonable limits. People who wait (for the next generation), are always behind a curve. Even if they purchase second or third generation hardware. Waiting puts that at third and fourth generation when they do. Maybe do not purchase first run gear, but get the maximum purchase you can at the time. Of course do your "homework" on any item you do decide.
  24. As usual Georgiegril is spot on. You need to adjust the ugrids and the cell buffer as a pair. the formula is (uGridsToLoad+1)² = uExterior Cell Buffer EXample: uGridsToLoad=7 uExterior Cell Buffer=64 These are all Unlocked grid parameters. They can be extremely taxing on your system. once you set a higher value, you just cannot lower them with existing game saves without a specific sequence of saves/loads. Another related ini entry is the iPreloadSizeLimit. : This setting determines the maximum amount ) of RAM allowed for pre-loading game data iPreloadSizeLimit=26214400 - max setting. I'm running my uGrids at 9 and have been for some time. EDIT : nice work Mr_SpongeWorthy. Its always a good thing when you find a solution to your problems. Often you learn a thing or three. Its nice you shared your findings :) As a side note, if you are having problems with your game, as I have learned and relearned. Go check your game cache at STEAMypile. Often this can take care of a myriad of seemingly unrelated issues.
  25. I offered my assistance. I am 100% positive they work, and work well. They don't delete your gear, they wont replace your gear, disenchant your gear, enchant your gear, eat your gear, morph your gear, color your gear, vanilla-ize your gear. It works with plain Skyrim, modded skyrim even Skyrim with chocolate sauce. they wont CTD when you open them (unless you put bad items in them to begin with). I have never met an item cap in them, I move them, angle them, stack them. I hide them, climb on them. You can even send a Dwarf over a falls in them. They look the same, they act the same. They all start with 1 vanilla item in them due to the game placement and list items. all normal lids graphic opens and close. They cannot be picked up and they do not taste very good. They are one hundred percent vanilla stock items where the ID codes were used and verified in the Creation Kit, WIKI a multitude of mods and every other location in the world. Type : Help chest, help barrel, help urn, help lockbox, help chest, help me. I am pretty sure I am most assuredly confident they work without any problems. Provided, that you do in fact, follow the instructions listed. Remember to make a save in case you miss a step or accidentally forget a + or - sign in your number placement and a container ends up 14 cells away sticking out of the Jarl of Sometown's head by accident. EDIT : If you still are unsure, make one and put a few items in it for a period of time you need to convince yourself it is safe, then go check it out. I bet you still have all those daggers, maces, leather, lockpicks, gems, ingredients or potions you placed inside. In case you just want a quick reply. I am pretty sure they work :teehee:
