  1. Please stop making up bull* and passing it off as facts. You clearly have no actual knowledge on the situation and are spewing garbage. "new iDTech" actually they will probably continue using id tech 6 for some time. For any matter, they haven't been using id tech engine for their Creation Engine games and probably won't. "Open world A-team" What Bethsoft employees would those be? "Skyrim 2" the Elderscrolls games are not released as direct sequels. It will be Elderscrolls VI "mods will ONLY work via Beth.net" please get over yourself and your hyperbolic lies. Thanks
  2. I disagree with much of your post but this one statement is pretty spot on. The fact that the animation toolkit has remained elusive to modders is extremely frustrating.
  3. I'm pretty happy with the DLCs. The major shortcoming with Bethesda IMO are characters/NPCs. Generally, their characters go from tolerable (like Piper) to meme-generatingly hated like Preston Garvey. There are no characters I absolutely love like I could say of Bioware or Squaresoft games. Bethesda has no iconic NPCs like other game companies do.
  4. I'm sorry but all this whining from some of you about a free upgrade is hilarious(ly sad). If you don't like it, you don't have to download it. If you don't want console users downloading your mods then simply don't put them onto Bethesda.net and require a console~ command to activate them. There is really no problem here with this, it's literally a free upgrade and content on a 5 year old game.
  5. OP, why don't you tell us since you're the one who enabled adult content while viewing the Nexus.

  7. Good point. More prewar gameplay and bonding time with your family would have been great. They would have had you learn to use weapons with a bb gun like FO3, take that trip to the park you talk about and much more. Even playable flash back memories would have been great. What's up with the Memory Den seeming really half assed and not being able to send you back to any cool prewar stuff?
  8. Word! Is there a write-up or post that explains how this can be made to happen? I don't know what else to tell you. I've never even so much as touched the in-game mod menu. Why would you when your mods are activated with NMM? Install Nexus Mod Manager (latest version), open it, go to plug ins tab, sort your load order, select the green check mark to activate all plugins if they are not already, click "Launch Fallout 4", click "Play", don't touch the in game mod menu... It's really as simple as that. That's all I do and it works fine.
  9. Back in the day there was only fast travel between cities and you had to actually find many locations without a map marker! http://i.imgur.com/Dwcepw8.jpg No floating quest markers either! Buncha whippersnappers...
  10. Yeah... I just turn that crap off.
  11. Just use the latest version of NMM and don't touch Bethesda's mod menu... it's really as simple as that.
  12. Is it possible to scrap it after you change the following line in your fallout4.ini (under the heading [general] ): bUseCombinedObjects=1 to bUseCombinedObjects=0
  13. Well my computer is half what yours is and I get better FPS than that. So the good news is that you should be able to fix this without spending any money. I would say you need to re-optimize your settings. Have you run LOOT on your load order? Okay there are the usual questions. When did you last update your graphics drivers? Your PC tower isn't full of cat hair, stuffed into a cabinet surrounded by dirty laundry right? What resolution your monitor is set to for gaming. Also, while 4k texture packs are all the rage these days, IMO they are unnecessary. Just delete them and install the 2k versions. Have you been editing your Skyrim INI file? Setting values incorrectly could definitely cause this issue.
  14. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1080 The 1080 is coming sooner than expected :D Personally I will never be able to afford one but at least it means that it will drive down the price on older cards.
  15. Just wait until mods start hitting consoles! Hope you built your arc because this forum bout to be flooded!
  16. That makes sense except it happens even with the vanilla, unmodded game. The only difference is that the drops become exponentially worse as more strain is put onto the system. So near Swan's Pond in vanilla there might be slideshow framerates for 2 seconds every minute. With more mods it becomes 10 seconds every 30 seconds etc. I should add that it's only in that area, even with shadow distance set at medium. The texture loading issue is a common one I've read about many people having. For others the fix was the ENBoost patch with ForceVideoMemorySize. Then there is increasing the iTextureUpgradeDistance1 value in Fallout4.ini. The later does help but doesn't completely solve the issue. For some reason low res mipmaps more often seem to load.
  17. The 480 actually runs FO4 alright. Set to high settings it gets anywhere from 50-70 fps in most locations. In downtown Boston it really starts to struggle though, dropping to 20-30 fps. Interiors it can run full ENB and Reshade beautifully at 70 fps. The real problem is that every 30 seconds or so the game stutters down to <1 fps for about 5 seconds and grows exponentially worse closer to downtown. This stutter is less noticeable with lower settings and more pronounced with higher settings, but never completely goes away, even with ENB disabled. Furthermore there seems to be lots of issues with textures loading. My rig has an i7 950 @ 3.07GHz and 12gb DDR3 ram. I've set up shadowboost with my ENB. Unfortunately I am running the game off an HDD sata 6. The weak link seems to be the 480, possibly due to it's older drive support and the 480 is known to overheat. I should also invest in a SSD to run games from though I never had a problem until now.
  18. Since the 1.5 live update the FO4 userbase has been melting down with "whaaa beth broke my mods". As if the simple change of adding * to plugins.txt wasn't bad enough, it seems that hundreds if not thousands of users were unable to resist the temptation of installing UI mods which are now incompatible with 1.5 Because of the large number of loose files added into the data folder, users can't figure out why disabling the UI mod isn't solving the issue. They then "uninstall" FO4 thinking that will remove the files, though of course they are still sitting there and go through a cycle of verifying cache and crashing because they can't figure it out... Predominantly the issue is with Def_UI and while I acknowledge it is not the author's obligation or responsibility the fact remains that the mod is causing tons of problems and the author is no longer supporting it... So I guess there's no point to this post other than I'm sick of seeing the same posts ten times a day all with the same problem caused by the same mod... -_-
  19. I feel like you just have to accept that no one character can be perfect and do everything. You need to specialize to be very powerful in any one field. For example I always either choose pistols or rifle, not both. It seems like the intention is for you to have to make several characters to experience all the different play styles and perk builds in the game. My recommendation is to make your first character based on either rifles+science or pistols+sneak or melee(haven't used it myself). Play the game with one faction then restart with the build you didn't try with a new faction. IMO rifle+science+powerarmor is best for the Brotherhood. Pistol+sneak+vats is best for the Railroad.
  20. You shouldn't have to do anything with the new ingame mod menu or log into Bethesda.net. I haven't touched the in game mods menu once and am running v1.5 with 114 active plugins. You just have to make sure that you're not using any outdated plugins which are incompatible with 1.5 and that any interface mods which are now incompatible did not leave loose files in your data folder. Also plugins in your plugins.txt file need to have * before them.
  21. Had one settlement attack in a 3 hour session today. Not sure if that was abnormal or not. I recommend http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10157/? which allows you to build vehicles to move between settlements. There are various versions such as one which requires fuel. It's very survival friendly and balanced imo.
  22. They aren't saved under that character. IIRC check all saves and not just for that character.
  23. Mods work fine, the reason you're crashing is because you installed UI mods which are not compatible with the latest UI changes in 1.5 Unfortunately disabling mods like Def_UI isn't completely automated and leaves loose files in your data folder. There are 133 files installed by the mod. Manually check to make sure none of them are remaining.
  24. Disabling a plugin is often not the same as deleting it. The reason you're CTDing at load is because you installed a mod which is not compatible with 1.5. Even if you uninstall the game and verify your cache, there are still loose files left in your Fallout4 folder which do not often get removed by "uninstall". Try deleting all the loose files installed by Def_UI, there are a LOT of them. 133 to be exact. If you're not sure which files they are, manually download the mod and look at the files it contains, then make sure none of those are in your game folder. If you can't figure out which files you installed that are causing the issue then you will have to delete your Fallout4 folder. After "uninstalling" the game you should completely delete your Fallout4 folder since there will most likely still be files left there which are not vanilla. Then reinstall.
