Septiphalic
Just installed Vortex and have been attempting importing from NMM for my Fallout 4 playthrough. I seem to running into the same issue over and over specifically regarding Vortex not recognizing NMM disabling mods. I have double and triple checked to make sure all installed mods in NMM are indeed disabled however Vortex keeps promoting me to disable mods before continuing. Ive been trying to find information on this specific issue with not luck thus far. Any ideas or advice?
Guest deleted34304850
its been ages since i used nmm, but don't you disable plugins, but need to remove (uninstall) mods?if you've got mods still installed, you should see them in your data folder.you could do the following;1. delete your data folder2. verify local files via steam (this will recreate your data folder)3. start a new game - to make sure its working - you should get a completely vanilla game starting up at this point.4. if the game starts you're ok. alt-f4 it.5. install your mods via vortex (do a copy from file if you already have your mod downloads available).6. start a new game - should see the "mods are loaded achievements disabled" message. if you get that far you should be on the way. Septiphalic
Understood. I'm trying return to my existing save game assuming I have a chance to salvage my modded save in the process.
Pickysaurus
It might be too late, but due to the way NMM (badly) manages mod files, it's not a great idea to switch manager mid-game. Vortex will install your mods properly, which might not be what NMM had done with them before. NMM itself is the problem, it's telling Vortex that you still have active mods. There's an XML files somewhere inside NMM's config that is apparently out of sync with what you are seeing in the UI.
Septiphalic
Damn. I was worried that might be the case. That's gonna be rough having to ditch a 3rd playthrough attempt, but if it's the only way forward so be it. Thanks for the advice.

Zanderat
Can you manually edit the XML file?
Septiphalic
I wasn't initially planning on switching mod managers mid play, however there didn't seem to be another option to keep using NMM as download method off the nexus. Most of the mods I was trying to download were mainly "fix" mods for a previously broken save (i.e. Ronnie Shaw not appearing, etc.) And reinstalling broken or missing mods. Guest deleted34304850
you can still use nmm (but why would you). it's community supported and you can use it to download mods from nexusmods.
HadToRegister
Can you manually edit the XML file? No, but you can delete it or rename it so it stops screwing up Vortex trying to handle your mods
