Vortex is deleting files and plug-ins on deployment

You do realise that i was trying to help you, right?

And in order to help you I needed to ask you for information because you offered nothing of use. I asked you several times, and still, nothing of use.

Further, baseless accusations would be you trying to tell us that something that's been in vortex forever only came in with the last update. that's 100% a baseless accusation, you only became aware of it because you tried to frame it to suit your problem. you're not alone in this, it happens all the time, mostly by people who don't know what they're talking about. Look up the phrase "correlation does not mean causality" for more details.

Anyway, it's obvious to me you don't know what you're doing and you're lashing out at people who tried to assist you, so I'm done here, you can figure it out for yourself. It'll be a good learning exerrcise for you. But be sure to tell us how you fixed it, won't you.

Personally, I'd avoid those mysoginistic incel mods like the plague, they're not well written, but it's your game you do you. Good luck, I hope you figure it out soon.

No, I don't even have xEdit installed yet. I'm talking about the plugins that register as "Could be Light" via Vortex and have a Feather silohuette where when you highlight the plugin, it pops up with the option to "Mark as Light". None of that is being done through xEdit. It's all Vortex options.

:)

whatever you say, chief.

This seems like a completely accurate description of this option in Vortex and I have no idea why anyone would doubt it.

Please try not to be so abrasive in your replies.

It seems you're not aware, but Vortex has a facility to flag plugins as light that is independent of xEdit. It doesn't compress the IDs or anything it just flips the bit in the file header, if it's safe to do so.

After getting all the mods installed, patched and ready for play, I started a fresh game. Got character created and mods setup in game only to notice I was missing a mod. Took a hard save, backed out checked to make sure it was installed. Found it was installed, but the mod's esp plug-in didn't appear on the plug-in screen for Vortex. Checked the mod staging folder to see if Vortex failed to deploy. Nope, it was deleted from the staging folder. This has been a constant problem since the last update, where upon a new deployment of mods Vortex will delete mod plug-ins and data and claim that the changes were made outside of Vortex.

Yeah, been having some trouble with Vortex recently, long sort times, deletion of mods in the staging folders, etc. I came here to see if I was the only one. Same thing. A few times I got the message that a dependency mod was missing. I check the staging folder and everything is gone. I didn't delete it. At some point, Vortex did. Another issue I've been having is the number of active mods, both .esp and light mods, including those marked as light, never updates when Vortex/Loot finishes its long sort and mod check. No, I have not done anything outside of the normal operating procedures before anyone asks. I have also reinstalled Vortex before when the same thing happened during a previous build. Going to try to see this through before switching over to Mod Organizer since I'll have to go through a learning curve with that.

First off, I've been using Vortex since it first released and replaced NMM 5 years ago. I am very familiar with the basic functions of Vortex and can easily discern what is a Vortex issue and what is most likely a mod issue. For example, I just messaged a mod author about earlier where one of their mods, and only a particular one, would have to be dropped into Vortex twice just to get it to pop up on the list to install. Because I was able to discern it was only occuring with this mod, I didn't bother mentioning it here.

Second, I'm not able to respond as quickly so you attacked me unwarrantedly and I responded in kind. Period. It is evident you have absolutely no I dea what actual functions are available as even someone replied verifing that if a plugin reads capable of being light, Vortex gives you the option to flip it without having to run xEdit and do a hard edit of the plugin. This is a function, that until recently, had never prompted the "A change has occured outside of Vortex" message as that is a change being made by Vortex in the Plugin tab at the bottom lefthand corner of Vortex.

Finally, I'll consider what you suggest in regards to the incel mods. It may be the path I have to go. I also noticed recently after uninstalling and reinstalling a mod trying figure out what was breaking it, Vortex tried doing a hard delete of all it's files with that pop up message. I chose the revert option but it is possible I need to slow down and thoroughly review every one of those messages. If this something I'm doing, then I'll happily adjust to correct.

So after a little bit of a slowed down and controlled monitoring of mods being installed, it appears that the issue is actualy failure to install the entirety of some mods rather than deleting their files. Noticed recently while doing a fresh install that I had to install, enable, deploy, check plug-in list, check data folder, check mod staging folder, uninstall, deploy, reinstall, re-enable and redeploy just to get Vortex to fully install and deploy "Seasons of Skyrim" from here on Nexus. So, I apologize for getting the issue I was having with Vortex wrong. But the issue is still with Vortex.

Are you using the 1.6 beta version or the current stable release?

It might be worth reporting this via the in-app feedback system if you can immediately after a mod is installed improperly. The log files you provide this way can help our team understand what was happening.

FWIW, I am using Seasons of Skyrim and have had no such issue. Did it's FOMOD work? It's not clear from your description of your issue.

The FOMOD worked as far as I can tell. But I have had it where I've installed, deployed it and then installed a mod that relied it being installed and after deploying that mod Vortex would tell me I'm missing "SnowoverSkyrim.esp", which is the actual plug-in name for Seasons of Skyrim.
