I play Skyrim in SKSE-Mode and I want to backup my save games on an USB-Drive. I know where the saves are located at, but do I really have to get all files? I mean, say the save is called dragon. In the skyrim save games folder, I get those three files:

dragon.ess

dragon.ess.bak

dragon.skse

If I want to play "dragon" on another computer, where the same mods are installed, do I have to copy-paste all of those, or, since I always play in SKSE-Mode, can I just take the dragon.skse file, then ignore or even delete the others in the original data folder?

ESS is the actual save file, you NEED that one.

BAK was probably created by some save tool that you used. I don't use those so never have had a BAK file in my save files

SKSE contains some information that SKSE needs for the matching save file.

So... copy over the ESS and SKSE and you'll be fine.

Ok, thank you :)

When I click skse_loader it raises an error report saying THIS IS NOT A VALID WIN32 APPLICATION so yeah I cant do that. Any fix to this problem?:/

and its not a matter of me not bein able to play a saved game again, its a matter of me not being able to play period.

Try running Skyrim as an admin. (Right-click on shortcut -> properties -> advanced -> tick "run as administrator", then open OR right-click on shortcut - "Run as Administrator")

Have you tried de-installing all skse files and re-installing it from scratch? That worked for me once.

The Player actor property is 1,000 times faster than Game.GetPlayer(). It's preferred if you need to reference the player more than once.

In the code above I would have just used the "akActionRef" parameter provided by the OnActivate event instead of PlayerRef. Or I would write the code to explictly make sure the akActionRef is the PlayerRef because as it's written if an NPC somehow activates the fire then the player will still get those message which wouldn't make sense.

I always use akActionRef == PlayerRef, but like matt, I only saw "Game.GetPlayer()" and thought "replace".

Is the Nexus Mod Manager reliable for Skyrim? I'm getting a new graphics card today, so I should be able to jump into it, but I have VERY little experience modding (I've done some in Morrowind with HIGHLY varying degrees of success, but I've heard that most mods won't work with NMM for that game.

NMM works fine with Skyrim. Alternatives for managing mods if you wish to examine pros and cons are Wrye Bash and Mod Organizer.

NMM should work with Morrowind since all TES games have the same basic folder structure, but as I understand it, it is preferred to use tools such as MLOX and Wrye Mash.

I decided to use USLEEP Swap Master Script, since two of my plugins won't work with USLEEP. Downloaded the thing, added the Usleep Swap Master Script.pas file to my TES5Edit Edit Scripts folder and followed the instructions of this video.

My problem: when I chose "Apply Script", the same window as in the video appears, but there are no scripts shown. Just imagine a blank window with a drop down menu, where you can choose the script. Except, again, there are no scripts to choose from. None at all. I choose new script, manually select the Usleep Master Script.psa file, get some message telling me it already exists and open it. The window remains blank. And the drop down menu still has only the option "new script". Nothing changes on repeat.

I click ok to exit the window (and in the vain hope that maybe it does what I want it to after all). Again, of course, nothing happens.

This is driving me nuts...what can I do?

Is my TES5Edit version faulty? I mean, shouldn't there be scripts to choose from if I choose Apply Script?

EDIT: okay, I think I solved it. Instead of Apply Scripts, I opened the File Header and renamed "Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esm" into "Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition.esm". So far found no problems.

Hi! I'm tweaking some spells for one of my mods, and I was wondering how I would go about having runes randomly spawn near a paticular NPC while they are in combat, as a defensive measure, and de-spawn afterwards.

Alternatively, having Auriel's solar flares strike random enemies during combat, while outside, during daytime and near the same NPC would achieve the same effect.

As scripting is not my forte, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
