Boombro
I generally don't mind annoying npcs provided they are mortal so that my evil characters can react appropriately to being spoken to in a rude manner. The problem is that Preston Garvey and his crew are not just essential, they are invulnerable. I guess they did that to protect the main questline. You can piss off all three of the other factions, but the Minutemen will always be there to allow you to finish the main quest no matter how many mini-nukes you drop on them (and I wasted quite a few at one point). (As an aside, I'm guessing the name "Minutemen" and its historical significance has impact with US gamers. Without that significance though, it's a tad uninspiring as names go to be honest. When I first heard it, I thought it was a joke. Centurymen or Milleniummen, that would have a bit more oomph, no?) How is that bad? ;)
Aintiarna
How is that bad? Which bit? Them being invulnerable? I'm generally in favour of the player being allowed to mess up their own quests if they want to and the game being able to handle it. New Vegas did it pretty well as an example. Boombro
You know what I mean. And I agree, at the very least set them so when the quests ends.
SiNNeR
being from UK the only reason I even know who the original Minutemen were is because of the Watch Men movie. the name cropped up in that and sounded really goofy for what was supposed to be a very dark kind of humour so I googled itcan't say Marcy Long has really annoyed me though. sure she comes off as rather bitchy at first but once I got everyone safely to Sanctuary she seemed a lot warmer, especially seeing her interactions with the other survivors. that being said, I've only met her on my nice character so far. I dare say if her path crosses with my bastard character then her reactions will be a lot more hostile
WastelandGeographic
Don't worry... I'm sure monkey's with typewriters are herding voice actors as we speak for Fallout 4: "Interesting NPCs." That having been said... I miss Dukov. Yeah, it's sometimes fun to have npcs that need killing over and over again. Dukov was one of them and that sleazebag with the heart-shaped bed in Paradise Falls, can't remember his name. Forget Skyrim's Nazeem, who I've only ever found mildly irritating. FO3 had the biggest collection of hateworthy npcs I've ever encountered. I'm convinced that Dukov is based on Vlatko Andonov. I met Vlatko in the Bethsoft offices many years ago and that's totally him. Vlatko is President of Bethesda now. WastelandGeographic
Or the whole U.S.S. Constitution crew. Speaking of super-pep made me think of the bosun. Hell, the whole quest is one step beyond crazy. Or the kid in a fridge. Or Curie. Or the Covenant and their S.A.F.E. test for detecting synths  Or the... unique personalities on the supervisors at Graygarden, especially supervisor Greene. Do mention he sounds like a game show host for a giggle. Or just listen to his conversations with White. Or, yeah, the whole Silver Shroud quest arc, and especially the delightfully fanboy Kent. He's adorable. Or, speaking of Moira, check out Tinker Tom. Now that's a guy that can out-crazy Moira and then some. Etc. There's PLENTY of quirkiness. In fact, I'd say a lot more than in FO3. I mean, FO3 did shove Moira in your face right at the start, whereas in FO4 you start with a bunch of depressing idiots, which admittedly doesn't help with the initial impression. But afterwards, FO3 had very little of that crazy stuff any more, whereas FO4 then starts having it all over the place.Reading your post, it's clear to me how much of the game I haven't seen. I spend most of my time playing house in the settlements. I'll withhold judgement until I see more. I enjoyed the Constitution crew. Just what I like in a Fallout game. Talwyn224
I agree that in FO4 there isn't much of the really whacky quirkiness we've seen in previous instalments but there is a new degree of great humour from some of your companions from the banter they come out with in game. Stand out examples are Deacon and Codsworth. Those 2 are the funniest most delightful companions I've travelled with thus far. Piper, Preston and Curie are fine but I really did not like Strong at all, especially since he dislikes most of the things you do such as lock picking, picking up loot, entering power armour etc etc etc. I took him on for barely a day before I got rid of him as he was just not fun to be with. Seriously, why would you want to hang around with a cannibalistic super mutant with no redeeming qualities? There are some rather quirky little gems - the set piece tableau's you find throughout the game like a teddy bear sitting on a toilet reading paper with a cigar in its mouth. I like finding these, they amuse me. There are many more and each shows a very quirky, sometimes a little bit twisted sense of humour.

Which is all the time. Like, I'd be just trying to look at what mods to what weapons I can afford, or playing electrician to get some light in the house, and she's walking to and fro doing angry "Do I look like want to chitchat?!" or "What gave you the impression I want us to be friends?!" remarks. And I'm like, "What gave you the impression that I'm even remotely interested in talking to you, anyway?" And eventually, "Ok, come with me, I want to show you where your new bed is." (Under a bridge.)

This list of 7 things is just about everything, though. None of it measures up to Tenpenny Tower, Megaton, Tranquility Lane, Andale Etc. I think people should give FO3 a quick recap, not only to see how much it's changed but to remembered the layers and choice outcomes most of those funny side missions had.Out of those 7 listed we're left with about 4 real quests: Shroud, Constitution, Kid in the Fridge, Covenant; where you have a choice how to handle it. I am hoping their are enough mods to fill this void from people who remember FO3's brand of dark humor.
KimberJ
Obsidian's FNV is the same FO3 just heavily modified on a 18 month development cycle. I feel like people are forgetting about FNV along with all the DLC for FO3, an then the FNV DLC, to which s#*! just wasn't that funny. XD
