Survival mode disable mods?

That is funny... there are a lot of post complaints about console.
But, I have to say in 180 hours, I never got stuck, or got a single crash, so I never used (or had to use) the console once. I really dont get the madness about this.
I really have the feeling that a lot of people can stand to play fallout4 in a regular way. No... they *have* to use the console, they *have* to use mods, just because... because... I don't even know why, actually. People seem to think that everything that come from bethesda sucks by principle. They just forgot that Bethesda actually made the whole game and the Api. This is really weird.
However... I used the console a lot in Skyrim (which was far less stable), mainly when I was learning to make mods, because I obvioulsy needed to cheat at this time.

I like to use the console to take screenshots. It is a slight inconvenience to not be able to and have to use an entirely different character when I want to take screenshots without the menu.

Not a big deal, nothing I would get mad about, but it does seem like a weird decision if they keep it in after the beta.

This is a typical "works on my machine" post like you see on many tech support websites. Just because it doesn't bother you, doesn't mean it doesn't bother tons of other people. And frankly there is zero logical reason of why the console should be disabled. Even if people want to cheat on THEIR OWN singleplayer survival game, why do you or bethesda care? If you're worried about achievements, why not do it like NV and just disable achievements for the session when the console is used? It's not like you couldn't just make a mod that auto-added every achievement to you anyway. If it's to try and prevent people from cheating, Cheat-Engine says hello. You won't stop cheaters from cheating by disabling the console. Even then, why do you care if they cheat? If it bothers you that much that other people cheat in their own singleplayer games then you seriously have some kind of issue and have no business talking about what other people do.

I've used the console for many various things, from renaming my character to unstucking myself to editting ENBs and taking screenshots. Why should I not be able to do these things while also enjoying the added features (i.e. hunger/thirst/exhaustion, adrenaline, etc.) that the new survival mode brings? Why do we have to have a feature removed that has been in every single Bethesda FO/TES game, and that has been a big part of these games for many people?

I generally support the things that Bethesda do. However, unlike some others, I don't white-knight them and can acknowledge that they aren't infallible and are in fact capable of making bad design choices.

I dont care, and you missed the point. I make mods and tool for modding myself, so... well...

I am just wondering, why, by default, people want to cheat, and not even try what the game propose.

Also people are used to some "unstable game from bethesda" which is fair at some point, until now. Fallout4 is the most robust game they made so far.

yeah...BETA. and if they are still disabled in the proper patch when it's out than what you gonna say huh?

Then I'll be first in line to complain and cry about it, but you know that won't be the case. Even if it is, they'll release the GECK eventually. If they outright prevented mods, they know their sales of these games would drop too far. It won't happen. Even if it did, I guarantee you someone would find a way around it.

So many people here are out of line. It is a BETA, and as such requires all users testing it to not have mods in operation that change the way the game plays. If you want to play with mods during the BETA you need to opt out of it. This is not something you've "paid for" this is the company doing a proper open BETA on upcoming features with requirements to insure the feedback is solely related to the BETA and not 3rd party modifications. By taking part in the BETA you are volunteering to follow those guide lines in testing the new features before their official release.

I'm still getting used to the forums, too. Happened to see this thread as I'm flying back home.

So a few things re: mods.

First, we didn't disable them. As Jurassica mentioned, introducing the revamped Survival Mode to Fallout 4 introduces significant changes to how the game operates, and with this, it can have an impact on the mods you're attempting to load in. We're already seeing folks in this thread figuring some things out, as is the case when we put out other updates.

Second, Survival Mode is in beta right now, and during this process, we're going to be relaying feedback to the team based on all of your experiences. We're getting feedback in this very thread and that's why we're following up.

With the beta, it's great to hear your feedback while playing mods however most of these mods were created before we even announced the new mode. Like add-ons, Survival Mode brings changes to the game, and we simply cannot test for all scenarios for all third party mods. We encourage you to give Survival Mode a shot without mods. If you'd prefer to wait until it's released, that's okay, too. And of course, the mode is entirely optional.

Lastly, since we're on the topic of mods, we will be reporting updates soon on the new Creation Kit for Fallout 4. Thank you & stay tuned.

I'll repeat my reply here that I made there. What gstaff said about mods not being disabled is strictly true, but disingenuous. Other than simple replacers there are now more things to do to work around the game.

At this point, treating their moderator posts as fiction until proven otherwise.

edit: The funny thing is, it'd not have been a big deal if they flat out just stated what they were doing.

I use the console for screenshots, changing ENB settings as well as the occasional cheat when I run out of terminal hacks and dont feel like waiting for it to unlock  I get what you are saying and do not plan to opt into the beta. It is a beta, however, so hopefully Bethesda will see all of the rather negative feedback on the decision to disable the console, and not include it in the final release. As for why they would consider it in the first place? Cant say, but maybe they thought people would like it. There are, in fact, mods on several Nexus game pages specifically for disabling the console:

Fallout 4- http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6526/?

Fallout NV- http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/58629/?

Fallout 3- http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17412/?

Oblivion- http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/15791/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19395/?

Skyrim- http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6859/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64051/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64571/? and this last one http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25496/? which does not disable the console, it charges you gold for adding items and charges Health, Magicka and Stamina for adding gold through console.

edit-Although none of these have any significant number of downloads or endorsements
