TheDungeonDweller
What makes me nervous, is Beth hiding what exactly is the mod author being signed up for. Then there is how they announced it. Mud crab armor. Seriously, did Bethesda not get the memo about horse armor being a bad thing? I don't buy that being an inside joke, because their entire presentation was fairly tone deaf about what people want. While I think it was a bit of an inside joke, I'm not ignoring the work ethic of those people. I do think they will release some stupid things and expect people to pay for them. In some other thread, I joked about paying for 'extra bow zoom', and sadly it sounds too much like something they would do, especially retextured robes and armor - you know, stuff that anyone with nifskope can do. tx12001
Existing Mods are not allowed to be put up there so if you have no intention of ever buying a mod then you are complaining for no reason as this will have no effect on you whatsoever. LvxMagick
feel like we should contact Foxnews & Cnn about this, they do articles on the new Xbox they should do one on Bethesda- taking advantage of creativity for profit.. the only reason I say this is because One the make a mod about a Mudcrab they can turn around and ask everyone to remove their mudcrab mods due to copyright infingment. We trully got to fight this one. Two they only pay the modder 3 times and keep 100% sales revenue.. so if they sell the mod 1,000,000 times at $5.99 the mod author only gets $2000? BAD BAD BAD BAD!!!!! I doubt they will tell you how many times its been purchased they know were smart enough to do the math Shady Shiiite.Bethesda Games Are Boring With out the Modding Community, if you really look at it has anyone ever try to play a bare bones bethesda game after modding I highly and seriously doubt it anyone would out of the millions of people that bought their games would! I never bought another EA game because of the shady release of battlefield 3 I dred that i might have to do this to Bethesda my favorite game company very sad indeed..Edited by ccoo84, Today, 03:39 PM. BAD BAD BAD BAD!!!!! Woah is that true? Source? Bethesda Games Are Boring With out the Modding Community. That is false, look at the ps3 and xbox 360 skyrim fan base, they played skyrim for 5 years without mods. And there is a good number who plays skyrim without many mods. Same applies to all other beth games. One can easily play morrowind from the box for 200-500 hours and have fun. I have clocked oblivion a 1000 hours before adding anything and I had fun. Like how custom is your beth game, you don't play any base quest, use any base item you, trade with a base npc? Beth games mods are fun, but not to the point beth games are trash without them (unless if you hate the ugly ofc) Edited June 15, 2017 by Boombro
cancerparty1
Wonder how long it took for Bethesda to write up all this. They took literally every single lee-way to make sure not to accidentally refer to the Creation Club as a 'paid-mod' feature.
CosmicArrow
SidAlpha has put up a pretty good video covering a lot of the possible pros and cons. One thing I thought of that this video doesn't mention is Bethesda flexing their legal muscles with free mods being similar but not a copy and paste of creation club mods. What if someone creates a backpack or backpacks for free and they are just as good or better quality than CC ones? Will Nexus or the modders start getting DMCA notices? ROoonneth
"...I have always and will always view mods as something you do for the love of the game. It's a gift from the community by the community, not a product you have to pay for. I" This sums up the whole spirit of this community. for many years it has been the very spirit of it and we even surpass that lame attempt to control it few years ago. for years it has been overcome. I remain skeptical as well. to this idea, not because i don't want to evolve, which is every few steps, even necessary, but this to my knowledge smells like a clear attempt to monopolize the soul of the community and evidently, take full control in a few years. not by being active but passive. they just have to wait. "if you burn the bar, you won't have plague infestation anymore" ...Time will tell. but it is pretty clear to me. they don't want to control the present of the Mod community and his assets. it's a clever excuse to stop providing support (G.E.C.K for example), to the modding tools on which we depend for creation of mods. Itt's controlling the future products. ...they want the future of it. ...mark my words.
Moksha8088
IF you get accepted, you then work out a schedule and road map with Bethesda. You then begin getting paid a monthly wage - as if you were a dev. Once complete, your mod will undergo professional in-house QA at Bethesda, as well as localization to be translated into all the languages Fallout 4 or Skyrim are available in. It is then released. This would have been good for Alexander Velicky the creator of Falskaar, if Bethesda had seen merit in his proposal. Of course, it is possible they would have requested colorful costumes and large paddle-like swords for the younger players on XBox and PS4 if that mod had been made for a commercial purpose.
