next step is bethesda games, even solo player games ie skyrim FO4, will only run in online while having a bethesda account running. so they can ban people who use mods from 3rd party platforms like nexus here. unfortunatly this have already happened for other game producers. they could legally claim their monopol for modding their games.

I dont think they can do that. They would risk MASSIVE playerbase loss. After reception like this one, I dont think that would happen. Bethesda understands that modders are the ONLY reason skyrim and fallout games are still alive and selling copies. They would be mad to try that.

So they are saying a power armor constitutes 1/20th of content in their game. Because 5$ is 1/20th of 60. So if they made 20 power armor sets, they're saying its about the same amount of content in the entirety of fallout 4? f*** you bethesda. The mods on there look well made for what its worth. (not much). But thats not the point. From their pricing model, to the way they rolled this out, its bogus. Saying they made horse armour to laugh at themselves is bulls***. Its spitting in all of our faces, saying they dont give 2 f*#@s, heres some horse armor for 5$ again. If it was 25c then yea, haha very funny. But its not, a joke by anymeans they are 100% serious. They see people playing their games for years upon years after release, so they said to themselves, how can we profit off of this. People are playing our same old games and we arnt profiting enough from record breaking sales of fallout 4 or the slightly improved Sse, we need more. Pay modders minimum wage to make this stuff that could, itself, make millions over the lifetime of the game. Its not my place to say to you that you shouldnt do something because "I" dont think its worth it. But I can say you should put some thought into what your contributing to. What your doing to the game industry as a whole. Setting a new precedence in microtransactions. The naivety was too much when they announced this, but now that we can see it for what it truly is. We can judge them for ourselves. And make our voice count.

Yea they understand that. They also understand there is a massive area of profit they are completely missing out on. Something where they could profit over the lifetime of a game, with little to no investment. Win win for them. Riding on the back of modders as they always have.

I don't know if it'll come to explicitly banning users necessarily, but it's harming to the modding community, especially if they keep putting out updates that render F4SE unusable all the time.

It feels like Beth wants to seize total control of the modding production and then sell at least a good part if it for more profit. Both of which completely defeat the purpose and spirit of having a modding community in the first place.

Banning people who use mods on a Bethesda game because they came from a 3rd party website would actually be the most Hysterical Joke to ever happen to gaming since 1983.

I just love how they get 1 step closer to Activision Practises

Elder scrolls 6, Guild questlines will be cut, sold off as $30 Season passes along with the $30 Campaign Season pass that will continue you adventure and to top it off we're going to give you golden Daedric armour as a pre-order bonus with exclusive Dawnbreaker

Only goddam company we can safely rely on is CD Projekt and Bioware Edmonton

Just checked my Data folder and yes, all the CC I didn't order, pay for or want have been downloaded and are currently taking up 681MB of HDD space. I know, 681MB isn't a lot, even for someone like me who doesn't have a big HDD, but it's only for 10-12 mods. What happens when/if the CC grows to say 100 mods? Are we forced to store several GB's of content we didn't want, didn't pay for and don't have access to? It's probably legal - otherwise they wouldn't have done it I guess - but that made me really furious. F4SE will be updated because competent and brilliant people make it so I don't really care that I can't play FO4 for a few days, but forcing me to store extra content on I don't want on my limited HDD?!

Anyways, I switched FO4 in Steam to only update when I launch the game but I'm wondering if that's good enough to prevent future updates or does launching the game through F4SE count as me launching the game and therefore enabling steam to update the game?

I was able to delete them I already started steam and started the game and the files didn't come back. But I guess it will be trouble once the next wave of crap comes in and I can't play because bethesda is shoving these paid mods into our data folder -.-

That player loss would be only on PC, and they couldn't care less about that. Sure, right now they need the PC users to make mods for their XBoner customers, but the CCrap might be the first step to get rid of that, too.

Their next game will probably no longer come with a free editor. You will have to buy an SDK license, like for iOS, and the mods will only be available on the CC. The game after that will then be console only.

Can't say I'd care if that was the future model. Let the console kids have Bethesda if it's no longer moddable.

I started FO4 through Steam (since F4SE isn't updated yet) and everything seemed fine. All the mods from Nexus were there, I didn't get any warnings when loading up my save about missing mods and even Sim Settlements which relies on F4SE seemed to be working just fine. It shouldn't work though, right? I didn't save the game as I don't want to overwrite my current playthrough while F4SE isn't up to date. Just wanted to let you know and if you know why it seemed to be working fine and also why it's probably not, let me know :)

You saved when you exited the game. I don't think you can turn off that feature. But it's a new save, of course.
