Horrible new system for downloading akin to Rapid Share

This new setup is every bit as bad as Rapid Share or any other seedy, shady system out there.

Features include:

1. Wait forever while we "prepare" your download.

2. When (IF) the download is prepared, speed will be capped at 1MB/S

3. Advertisement showing that you can pay for faster speeds, including a monthly subscription option

As we speak, I've been waiting for this download to START for over 30 minutes.

It will never start until I am strong armed into one of the payment options available, I bet.

What's next...limit on one file per day?

Sorry, but this is paid mods. PAID MODS. The Nexus being free is the ONLY reason people don't just fork out and pay Bethesda for their paid mods service.

RIP Nexus.

If you want the Nexus to continue to exist you either need to deal with advertisements or pay them money so that they can continue to provide you a service. It's that simple. Dark0ne has done a great job over the years of managing / running the Nexus, but nothing comes for free and he needs to pay the bills somehow.

If you waited for the download for 30min, the problem is on your end, since this is NOT normal on the nexus. It normaly starts right away, even for free users.

"Your download should begin in a few seconds" is NOTHING like the artificial file hoster waiting time and something you see on every single site offering free stuff. The speed limit of 1MB/sec is very generous considering that the vast majority of mods is only a couple of KB large. Premium is just a couple of bucks, and I personaly just buy it to support a site that I like. You can use the Nexus perfectly fine without it, I did so myself for a long time. If you think that's anywhere close to sites like rapidshare, then the problem is your attitude.

We do not put any download wait times on our service (i.e. "you must wait X minutes before your download starts"). If your download didn't start, it's because your browser settings or some software on your PC is blocking the redirect that happens on that screen.

Go to your site preferences and change your "File download method" to "Separate page". That should fix the issue for you. If it doesn't, explore your browser settings. It's something on your end, else thousands of people would be here complaining about it.

Everything else you mentioned has been a part of Nexus Mods since 2007. Just the new site shows this information better rather than expecting you to know that's how it works.

Nexus has always done an excellent job as a mod resource and through the Nexus Mod Manager. I see nothing valid in what seems to be an unfair rant against Nexus.

For someone who's been around the Nexus for over three years, you seem to know little to nothing about how things work around here, otherwise you wouldn't write the utter nonsense you did. Sure, there's bound to be some delays at times, depending on server load. That, plus the fact the Nexus is undergoing major changes and people are tinkering with the code on the new layout on a daily basis, not to purposefully slow everything down, but on the contrary to get everything up to speed.

So, instead of complaining about things that are borne from ignorance, you'd better tip your hat to the unknowns who make it possible you're never going to be forced to use something like rapid-bucks to get your mod-fill.

Years of downloading without a word and then you have to wait for a few minutes and wham, all the sins of Israel are being poured down on the Nexus... I'd make you wait an hour on your next download...
