jeremy0x4a Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Is there a way to have Vortex launch a game automatically, via command line parameter or similar method? I'm trying to find a reliable way to launch a Vortex modded game with a Steam shortcut so that it's accessible via Steam Link and XBox controller.
FlamingCheeseMonkey Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Depending on what game you are trying to do, with what mods, you can simply add the .exe (whether it is the game.exe or the script extender) to your game library through Steam and run it like that. Because of how Vortex works, you don't need to use Vortex to run the game for your mods to show up.
rmm200 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Vortex running - Vortex not running. It is all the same. This is a key difference from MO - you can stop Vortex if you want. The Hard Links are still there. And use whatever shortcut you like to launch the game. It better be for SKSE if you are using Skyrim though.
HadToRegister Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 I just leave Vortex open all the time.I run all my games from Vortex
ErockSmiles Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 It's a little cumbersome to run vortex when game streaming and using a controller. Especially if you use different game mod profiles. Command line switches would be more optimal to create a shortcut and add it to steam. For example, "vortex.exe -autolaunch -game -profile" if I wanted to play Skyrim with a set of Vampire related mods "vortex.exe -autolaunch -SkyrimSpecialEdition -VampireMods"
showler Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 But, if Vortex is already configured to use that profile then you don't need to launch Vortex at all. And, if Vortex isn't configured for that profile then you would have to wait while it purges the mods, changes the profile and deploys the mods again. Strange thing to do while streaming. Why not just have the right game set up ahead of time?
