  1. How much impact is your race going to have on gameplay this time around? Is it gonna be the same as Oblivion or will they try to make it more "in-depth"? For example, how is your race going to affect how people treat you?

     

    P.S, if Vampirism is making a return, are they going to make it more interesting as well? For example, will we get to do certain quests differently as a vampire? I found it weird with a few quests in Oblivion, like that one with the vampire hunters in Skingrad, where they claim to be so good at hunting, yet somehow they don't even realize that the man/woman they're staring right in the face to is in fact a vampire. Or that one in Bruma with the *false* vampire hunter, that guard captain guy is standing there going on about how horrid and vile vampires are, and he doesn't realize that he is speaking to one...! I so hope it will be better, I love being a vampire. <3

  2. So what kind of ruins are we going to get to explore in Skyrim? I heard something about Dwemer ruins, is that true?

     

    Don't get me wrong... Dwemer ruins are awesome and I would really love exploring em again like in good old Morrowind. But I'm going to miss the Ayleid ruins, too, they're pretty awesome as well. Maybe they could have a mix of both in the game? Have some Ayleid ruins situated near Cyrodiil's border, to the south, and make the Dwemer ruins further to the north? That would be cool.

     

    Or maybe they could do something with Falmer? That would be very very interesting indeed.

     

    Ask me to decide between Dwemer and Ayleid and I couldn't give you an answer... I'm torn between the two. I love em both so much and I wish the people who made them didn't have to die out! :(

  3. Please can someone help me find a good, easy to use music mod? I tried one that had a lot of downloads, but its mechanism was terrible and it annoyed me big time. It places a whole bunch of different "Music" folders in Data/Music folder, but then I still have to fiddle around with an large, messy ingame menu to get each one to play? And my own songs don't even play automatically, I have to keep going back to that menu again and again and sift through it to get the song I want to hear? That wasn't a very good mod experience. Can anyone recommend a really good and user friendly mod out here that improves the music?
  4. Sooo... lore tells us that that Barenziah, the queen of Morrowind, was born in 2E 893. She's been around since the days of Tiber Septim, and by all accounts she is still alive by the chronoligcal end of Oblivion's main storyline, which makes her about 500 years old. What the hey?

     

    She apparently even had her first child when she was about 300 years old... wait, what in the...?!

     

    Good grief, exactly what are the average life expectancies of Tamriel's races? Elves obviously age very very very slowly if they've still got fully functioning reproductive organs despite them being centuries old (the women must either be packing a heck of a lot of ovum cells, or they've got ludicrously long ovulation cycles). If the Dunmer can live for that long, then how long do the Altmer live?! (since we are told that their natural life spans top all of the other races.) Do humans live anywhere near that long? I am so confused.

    Also.. what is the policy on re-requests in this thread? Like if a mod identification request goes unnoticed.. obviously, I don't want to spam the board too frequently, so what would be an acceptable length of time to post it again? :turned:

    I think that's from Lush and Gaudy Landscapes

     

     

    I'm not sure that's it, I use LGL, and the foliage textures are considerably more detailed than those appear.

  6. Seen this mod once but i can't remember where it was at, but what it does, is when you hit tab to view the map, it's colored and has colored icons. Basically a detailed map, and i can't seem to remember what it was called. -_-

     

    Sounds like Elven Map Redux to me, it's a VERY nice colored map mod which also has its own colored icons.

     

    For even more colored map markers, this mod has several different choices, all of which look very nice. :)

  8. I can swear I have seen at least one other vanilla city overhauling mod besides Better Cities but I can't seem to find it. I distinctly remember that its changes to the cities were significantly different from BC's... can anyone think of what it may be? For the most part I absolutely LOVE Better Cities, there are a few things I don't like but definitely the largest thing that bugs me is its changes to Bruma, I really hate how they made the city a dump with junk and blood and rotten cadavers all over the place.
  9. I am using a number of magic mods, but the spell is a vanilla spell called "Cold Touch", it is one of the starter spells you get if Destruction magic is one of your major skills.

     

    The mods I am using are Midas Magic, Supreme Magicka and Mighty Magicka. I reinstalled them earlier today for troubleshooting purposes; all of them were installed before and I am positive I never saw this weird green thing. My game is otherwise working absolutely perfectly (I resolved the issues I was having earlier today), it's just that, well... I go around icing people and leave a trail of green corpses behind me. :confused:

     

    I ran everything through BOSS and checked with Wrye Bash so I know it is not a load order issue. I also ran it through OBMM's archive invalidation. :(

     

    I'm also using FCOM (which includes OOO, MMM and WarCry), could the problem be from reinstalling those magic mods on top of it?

  10. This just started up and I'm not sure why. Whenever I kill an actor with a cold touch spell, they turn green. Not like a rotting corpse or anything, just the colors of their hair and skin and armor all turn to this weird shade of green. Why is this happening?

     

     

  11. Don't ask me how I've ended up with over 30 gb of crap in my Data folder. I don't know how it could have happened. I just don't know.

     

    But please, oh please, can anyone give me some advice on how to clean it out? Where in the world should I even start? How do I make sure i don't accidentally delete stuff I still need for the mods I am using? :(

  14. Darn, I can't decide. They're all so awesome, I love 'em all (though with the slow, disconnected amount I've been playing these days, I've ended up spending the most time in Bruma and the IC.)

     

    I have BC, which is really a great mod and adds something interesting to all of the cities. (frankly I thought they were all quite bland boring vanilla).

     

    Skingrad is one of my top choices though. Like people have mentioned, it's just a really cool beautiful medieval atmospheric city, and the count is a vampire like me (my character)! :D

     

    I also really Bruma. I love the cold and the snow, makes it feel so cozy. (though BC's additions to it, with all the junky poverty and blood and rotten corpses lying around I don't like very much). I live in Ontario, and it snows quite a lot where I live IRL, so it's kinda like a familiar place. :yes:

     

    I also like Bravil very much. It's a poverty stricken dump, but the way it's organized and presented in BC is very well done- it's dirty, yet its layout and general atmosphere is interesting and attractive, making it a really fun place to hang out and explore.

     

    Leyawiin is pretty neat, too. Lots of Argonians and Khajiit's, it has a very intriguing feel of a place where cultures converge, and clash, a lot. Thankfully BC still includes the option to remove the flooding, which is a huge relief. You really feel like it's a town right at the edge of Cyrodiil, straddled between Elsweyr and Black Marsh... and the docks, the water, it's so charming and fun to hang out there.

     

    I like Anvil for the same reasons. The charming seaside atmosphere, the docks, the colours of the buildings, the flora... it's so loverly.

     

    Chorrol and Cheydinhal are wonderful too, I love the garden-ey design (in both vanilla and BC) of them and like I've said for all the others, they're cool.

     

    I think I'm running out of words now... I love the IC as well, for many of the reasons listed above. :thumbsup:

  15. Recently I dug up a dagger that I made for Morrowind a (very) long time ago, I'd all but forgotten about it since I rarely play Morrowind anymore. I'm quite pleased about the work I did on the model and don't want it to go to waste, so I would like to use it on Oblivion, but how would I go about doing that? I'm assuming I can't directly copy it over... or can I? How can Morrowind weapon models be used in Oblivion? Do they need to be converted somehow?
  16. Once upon a time I downloaded a mod that actually makes it so you can use crystal balls for scrying (meaning they're not just useless clutter anymore). I got it right here on Nexus. I am trying to find it again to see if there are any updates or anything, but now it seems to have disappeared and I cannot find, can anyone help me?

     

    I was not able to find it on the one computer I can access at the moment, and that was an exhaustive search, it's my biggest cache of mods. I do remember that mod, but I never opened it. What exactly did it do?

     

    It makes "Crystal balls" into useable objects (in vanilla they were just useless clutter), you could still pick them up normally by sneaking, but if you interacted with them while standing normally, you could use them to sort of "predict the future" (which used and required Mysticism skill, so it was really a thing for magic oriented character). It's pretty cool, and I seem to recall it had quite a lot of endorsements, I can't imagine why it was removed from Nexus. :(

  17. I use FCOM and have all of its components 100% installed. Have been using it for a while, and this is the first time I have noticed a problem.

     

    The "flayer knife" is a WarCry weapon, FCOM's WarCry plugin says that it makes the "flayer knife" playable (it is a weapon carried by "bone finger" enemies added by the mod). The knife looks absolutely fine when the aformentioned enemies wield it, but when I loot it and try to equip it to my character I get a big "Missing Mesh" error bubble. I have not noticed this with ANY other content added by FCOM and its assosciated mods. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong? It's a very cool looking little weapon.

  18. I saw a mod a while back that removes certain magic effect shaders or something, does that sound familiar to anyone? I never played as a magic character before so I never knew how annoying the "Charm" effect shader is (it's very jarring when I charm someone, and then they're all weirdly glowing green with little magic bubbles around them when I'm trying to speak to them!)
