Hmm, sorry to hear about this. I'm afraid if you're getting a bad connection to all of our CDN servers (which are placed all over the world), there must be a problem somewhere between your PC and our servers. Can you confirm if you get a slow speed from the "Under 25mb" files and the larger ones?

Well, this is quite a morbid topic... Nexus Mods turns 20 in 2021 and we're not planning on going anywhere soon. As it stands we're one of the longest lived modding sites around and (I believe) we're one of few serious modding sites that's independent ("for the community, by the community"). As others have pointed out, we pay the bills through a mix of advertising revenue and Premium memberships. Although with the prevalence of adblockers, Premium memberships are becoming more important. We are currently able to cover all the running costs of the site and we're even able to give a substantial sum of money to the mod authors who really are the lifeblood of the community: https://www.nexusmods.com/about/donation-points/ - We've paid out over half a million dollars through the rewards program and have been able to almost triple how much we put into the system each month. So, as you can see, we do what we can to reinvest in the community. :)

Some mod authors just close the comments and sticky a comment to say "development and support of this mod has ceased". Of course, the mod author would still get notifications regarding the mod, unless they can turn those off? That's pretty much why the Caretaker is there, because some authors want to turn off notifications and distance themselves from the page they no longer want to look after. If you're the page owner you'll always get alerts about comments while the comments section is open (as it stands). The advantage to the comments staying open on an "Archived" mod is that the community can help each other with problems.

I was actually thinking about mods having an "Archived" state the other day. Which would potentially be a more formalised Caretaker program or a state author can put mods into to say they're done with them and no longer want to update/maintain/get notifications about the file.

I don't believe this is a problem on our end, but I'll check in with the team. The only way you'd be logged out is if you cleared the session data from your browser (as far as I know).
