To Kuraikiba All I can advise you is to get a copy of Morrowind, either the GOTY or the original version - each will give you what you require. You should be able to get the data you need from that disk. Try Amazon or one or the other game firms.

Missing Morrowind file PLZ HELP
Themisive replied to ZergHunter3000's topic in Morrowind's Troubleshooting
Look at my post on the other forum -
Hi I see what you're driving at now, but as The Vampire Dante said, your best bet is to find the items needed in the Morrowind CS. You should be able to port these into Oblivion, just remember two things, the nif files in Morrowind are already NetImmersers/Gambryo files so there should be not problem there, but the texture files are a bit different. they are tga files, Unfortunately there is only one tga file for each item, and there is nor normal map file. To port the tga files to Oblivion, you'll need a nifty little utility called "DDS Converter". Basically copy the tga file to a folder - any folder will do, best is a temp folder. Open the DDS Converter and at the bottom you'll see two boxes, one is the file to read and the other is what it is to be transferred into. For that one select DDS, for the other select TGA. You may well need a normal map an _n.DDS file, to give a false 3D effect as well. You can get DDS Converter from TESNexus (look in the utilities section) so that should help.

Hi These three items are all parts of the game supplied on the disk, so I'd see it you can't repair it via control panel. If not, copy all your save files (they're in the Morrowind file) to another location, and make a note of any mods you are running as well. The next stage would be to uninstall Morrowind (if you have any "official" mods, delete those first). Derfrag the computer as it will need it now. If you haven't run a defrag for some time, it'll take a while especially if you have a large drive. Now re-install everything and put the saves back where you found them. Don't forget to add in any other mods you were using as well, put the saves back into the same place and you should be able to play the game OK now, - those nif files should have installed OK this time.

I understand, however, just follow the link the moderator gave you, or even to the Bethesda Forums to get an idea of the specs required. Your comment about Half-Life 2 was just what I was meaning, when you look at the specs look at the recommended specs and NOT the minimum specs.
-
The best way if you've got Vista or Windows 7 is to install to a separate folder AND disable UAC. you should have no trouble now.
-
OK everyone, I knew I had a tutorial on my computer (it's only been there about 7 years!), anyway i loaded that and managed to find out what I needed to know in seconds!
-
Yes you should be able to run Morrowind but have a look at the specs for it. At the same time, you may want to consider the items below: You CPU is a bit slow, I found a dual core 2.2GHz laboured a bit,The RAM you mentioned is only barely able to run Windows 7 and certainly not enough to run a game, you could do with about 2Gb RAM.You also haven't said what type of graphics card and sound card you have. Ideally you need a good graphics card, try for one with at least 250Mb RAM, and see if you can get a PCI Express card. Secondly use a good sound card, mine's good , old but perfectly serviceable You also need to make sure that your sound and graphics drivers are kept up-to-date. Keep all those in mind and you should get a good performance..

I am in the process of modifying a Morrowind Mod, and part of the modification involves the creation of an interior cell. Unfortunately the original mod was created several years ago, and since then I've become involved in at least one mod for Oblivion - so I can't remember how to alter that Morrowind Mod! I'd appreciate any help, and even better, if someone has or knows how to obtain instructions for making interior cells, I would be grateful.

I see what you mean, I DID use the PSB command by accident a while ago. Fortunately I had a save I could revert to prior to that command, as you say it gives ALL the spells in the game, not just the ones you want. What I really want is a spell to give night-eye for a good time (say around 60 seconds minimum), that way I don't have to rely on potions or scrolls. the code I was trying to use was one of the spell codes in the set of books by Freakyman - and it doesn't seem to work! I have managed to find yet another code, this one for the "Base Ring of Night-Eye" the code is 000937f5. I'll try that and see if it works. One of the mods I have enabled is one for Unlimited Rings and Amulets, so there won't be a problem on that score! If anyone has any further comments, I'd like to hear them.
-
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have bee trying to enter a night eye spell, unfortunately the only code I have is one for a base ring of night eye. I do know there is a spell available out there but i don't know the code, and at the moment I'm on dry ground in the middle of flooded dungeons! Can anyone please help?

Morrowind save files directory on Vista? Expert help needed
Themisive replied to Yetu's topic in Morrowind's Troubleshooting
I don't have Vista, but I hope I can give you some pointers. It seems to me that the buttons on the blue bar you are describing are put there via the start menu. If this is the case, find out where your start menu is, and add a short-cut to the Windows Compatibility folder next step try pinning it to the taskbar, as I assume that is your "Fat Blue Bar" I run Windows 7 Professional and these things work for me. -
Check your drive(s) for bad sectors. Just remember that if you're using the Windows CHKDSK facility, it can take a good while. Download a free trial of Auslogics Boostspeed, you can get it here, it does the job quickly and thoroughly. Failing that, all I can suggest is back up ALL of you irreplaceable data (e-mails, word files, saves for Morrowind and/or Oblivion and any other games you have) . Next do a full install of your O/S again, but ask it to do a full format as well. I know it's a pain, but it also means that you'll have to re-install Morrowind as well, so be sure to back up all your mods and other programmes for it first.

I've always been a bit suspicious of those three "helper" programmes, if you can get away without them so much the better. Try removing them one at a time, and see if the CTD is repeated. To be hones, I've just finished the game and had about 30 separate mods loaded, I did NOT have MGE, MSE or MCP, and the only time those would be needed is if one or more of the mods you use depends on it. If you still get a CTD after checking those programmes, try uninstalling then re-installing the programme - and DON'T forget to patch to the latest available patch from Bethesda. Try loading your mods now, and you should find it's OK. However, if you're still having problems, there may be another simple solution, check your graphics card drivers are up-to date. another tip that some people don't bother with is defragging their hard drives. It's OK to say "oh I've got XGb of storage on each of my drives, I don't need to defrag". That is completely wrong, as you run a programme - any programme the files being used are broken up (or fragmented) and scattered all the way over the free surface of your drive. This slows down your computer and makes the drive work that much harder. It can get to the point where your programme can't find all of the file and then you either end up with a "blue screen" or a CTD!

As far as I can see there doesn't seem to be a load order. -

I use quite a few Morrowind Mods, you should be able to get them all from TesNexus, enter the name in search and choose "all Morrowind Files". I use quite a few Oblivion Mods, do the same but choose "All Oblivion files". -

I wonder if you've got the correct version of Windows Media Player? I suggest this as just about all versions of Windows have their own version of Windows Media player built in. If you still have it, try a copy of Windows XP instead, and again go for full format and full install. -

From what it seems, you've managed to get it working, great. From your message it seems that you are not installing the full Windows 7, as you wouldn't have to install Windows Media Player separately - it is installed with the O?S. Next time you have this problem, please do a FULL install of the O/S, as it will cut down on the errors. By the way, I don't use the keyboard to put in the commands, I use a Nostromo Gaming Keypad instead, between that and the mouse I'm OK. Just remember though keep your drivers updated though, especially the graphics drivers and any drivers you mouse needs. -

Fine, I thought that the fragmentation could be a problem, but it seems it wasn't. I would normally only recommend the next stages as a last resort case, but I think that's what we've come down to. Do a backup of all files you need (e-mails and files like word and excel files that are created by you).Don't worry about the programmes as you should have them all on CD anyway. Get your Windows 7 disk and RE-INSTALL the O/S do a full format of C: drive.Set up your anti-virus again, as well as a firewall (the windows one will do for a bit). You'll have to re-load ALL your Windows Updates as well.If you use Firefox as a browser look in the data you gathered and find the e-mail data that you should have backed up, this includes all your profiles and they need to be in place before you install Firefox. The same goes for Thunderbird, Seamonkey or FileZilla - or for that matter even StopZilla. Next re-load ALL you various programmes and if necessary patch them to as late as possible. Now you see why I said it was a last resort, it can take a long time to get everything back together again, by the way all the Mozilla files mentioned in 6 need to go in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming. Reboot, clean your temp files run a defrag again and you should be up and running again. If youi do a full format of the drive, any bugs will get wiped off, and that may well be what was causing your problems. The next stage is to get a really good software firewall, one that works both on incoming as well as outgoing information, and install that, use instead of the Windows Firewall. Do that and run a defrag at least once a week as well as an anti-virus scan at least once a week and you should be OK. -

OK, thanks for the info. It seems that you're going OK, BUT if you've been running Morrowind on XBox, that may well be the problem - believe me what you don't know is that systems can alter programme disks a little, so they refuse to play on anything else. In addition, I know that there was an XBox version of the Morrowind GOTY, is it that you're trying to run on your PC? If so then the best thing I can suggest is to bet a PC version of the Morrowind GOTY - they're not expensive, about £5 - £10 depending where you get it from. I also see you're still using DirectX8.1 and 9. From what I can see of what you've told me, your machine needs quite a bit of care in the way of upgrades, log onto Windows Update in the control panel, and let it do the rest for you, you may well be surprised that it will download and install a much later version of DirectX for you - mines DirectX11! Have you got a good defrag programme, if you have it will be worth running it as well, to clear up all the debris on the hard drives. I know a lot of people think that because they have a large hard drive they don't need to defrag the drive(s), they do. Fragmentation occurs as you use a programme - or even load and unload it, and in the long run it slows your computer down a lot. Start the defrag programme after you've updated your computer, but don't plan on using the machine if you've not defragged for a while, as it will take a good long while at first. The best thing is to defrag at least once a week, and clean out any temp files on the system (like C:\Windows\Temp). Do all tht and make sure the GOTY you have is correct for PC use and you should be fine. -

It seems that you have at least 2 problems here. First, what other mods are you using? Second are you using any helper programmes like Wyre Mash? To be honest I'd look at disabling and/or removing those helper programmes - at least temporarily - for now. Next try disabling all the various mods just use the main programme files AND MAKE SURE that it's patched to the correct level, note that it is automatically patched by Bloodmoon to the highest level needed. Don't use any other patches from what ever souorce. The next step is going to take a bit of time and patience, but believe me when I say that it's worth it. Enable each mod one at a time, starting with the DLC or official mods. When you enable a mod, start the game and see if it runs, if it does then enable the next and go on from there, if not, then disable that mod and try the other mods one at a time. Hopefully you'll find all you mods work OK, so now re-load the helper programmes, again one at a time, and see if the game starts OK, if not remove the last programme you put in and go to the next. one. As far as the Windows platform is concerned, don't worry, I run Windows 7 Profession x64 (the 64 bit version) and use a quad core processor, it works fine for me! The above tips should help you solve the problem, -
Hi, if anyone knows the answer to this, I would appreciate your comments. Top be honest, in the past when I've played Oblivion, Lucien Lachance has visited me in my sleeping quarters, and though I'm well into the game, he hasn't shown up yet! I don't think I've done anything other than normal but is there a set time and place for him to appear?
-
Thanks again, I had an idea that they were available, but wasn't sure how to go about it,
-
Thanks, I remembered when i saw your post, that's EXACTLY what I needed. By the way, just another question, I hope you know the answer to this. In Morrowind (and of course the expansions), there was an option to make an item (armour, sword(s) or rings for example) as constant effect. Is there any way to do the same for Oblivion items? I've been looking but to be honest, the only way I could see something like that coming about is to use charged Black Soul Gems but I'm not sure.

I'm a good way into the game, but i find that a "Heal Other" spell would be handy. Unfortunately I don't have one, and can't find the code to cheat it on. Can anyone help please?
