  1. Most of the articles I am seeing on the various gaming sites don't think this was a good idea either. They think collections, in and of themselves are great, however, they pretty much universally pan nexus move to deprive authors of their rights to their own IP. Not that I think anything short of legal action is going to cause them to change their minds on this......
  2. I note they didn't waste any time nuking his account......
  3. Yeah, that bit was both extremely helpful and extremely annoying--helpful, because I still had lots of useful info on the hard drives I pulled from my dead computer, but annoying because all the detritus meant it wasn't too useful in terms of actually putting it on the new machine. I wish now that instead of moving mods from the old to the new, I'd just re-downloaded everything; it probably would have been faster, and definitely would have been a lot cleaner. Although on second thought, a dozen or more of my favorite mods have since been deleted by authors who got mad at Nexus, so they would have been gone permanently for me if I hadn't had that backup! That's why I save the archives that I download. Assures me that the mod will always be available to me. I don't use the manager to download, I grab them manually, drop them in my mods download directory, and have NMM install it from there. Works great. :D
  4. Yep. Jun, and Preston, are notorious for going places I REALLY don't want them to. Problem is, when the cell loads, the game just kinda randomizes their location, depending on what time it is. And unfortunately, "Your" house is fair game, regardless of what you do.... That's one of the advantages of the Homemaker houses, without NavMeshing. Settlers don't spawn there, and they don't walk in either. :D I have tried all sorts of tricks to keep settlers out of my personal space... nothing worked. The only thing that I have found that is truly effective, is to build someplace where there aren't ANY settlers... and never attract any. THAT has assured my privacy. :D
  5. If you got your mods from here, they are pretty much assured to be safe. Likely windows did an update, and choked on it. MS is famous for that kind of behavior. (I do PC repair for a living)
  6. And let's not forget, when opted into DP, you get a share as well. I don't wanna call numbers, but I'm quite satisfied with that little extra tip I'd get to sink on any Steam Black Friday. I'd like to compare how much money The Nexus makes from me as individual, in comparison to how much I make by their DP system. I'm somewhat sure I take more from them, as they take from me. The reason why they made the big money, is actually because of the quantity of users. I think most of their income comes from advertising..... so it's all about page views, not necessarily downloads.
  7. Go to this link here ... https://help.nexusmods.com/article/116-how-do-i-request-all-my-files-to-be-deleted-july-august-2021 Scroll to the bottom of that page and copy the template part of the text and paste it into an email to [email protected] Before you send the email you will need to replace the ... Link to my user profile: https://www.nexusmods.com/users/123456 part with your user ID numbers. The instructions for finding those numbers are found at the very bottom section of that page. Here's a link to the page for that ... https://www.nexusmods.com/ I appreciate the effort but that's already been done. I emailed them. Waited around for a response. They said they'd delete my mods. They deleted a handful. Probably going to give me the run around about how the creator and the uploader were different people. The creator chose not to have a profile on Nexus and gave me full control of uploading, maintaining and updating the mods. I did just that. I've been dealing with this for days and I've got better things I could be doing than devoting any energy to this. Not to mention, out of curiosity I checked my file history to see what's been getting deleted. If I click on endorse for one of my mods that's been "DELETED - DELETED" it says this mod is hidden. So is Nexus even deleting anything? Is that just a canned response? Could be. Who knows? They're liars and they're pricks. Whatever answer they have in response is worthless. I'm so done with it. It appears that if you only have Administrative Control over a mod, and are not the actual author, you have no say over whether the mod gets deleted or not. I am basing this off of the fact that those mods do not (any longer) count towards your unique download total to be a recognized MA, or any DP, unless the original author sets it up to share the DP with you. If he is the uploader, then it should be 'his'. I suppose if Nexus wanted to split legal hairs, they could say "No, it's not." And require the original author (but, he isn't the uploader) make the request...... Wonder how that is going to fly with mods that have been bequeathed to another member, as the original died...... (I know we have several of those.....)

Yeah, but, grandpa doesn't have a car payment, nor insurance, nor maintenance costs of a car.... But, being grandpa, is he going to offer gas money? :D Yep. My household has a budget. If we don't have the money for something, we don't get it. We don't sell worthless bonds, we don't print ourselves more money, we don't "borrow" if from some other part of the budget, etc. My vehicles are paid off, the only 'payment' I have is my mortgage, and the usual household bills. (gas, electric, etc.) I am actually living within my means, and can save money. When we come into a large expense, (like the roof on the chicken coop/shed) I can take it out of savings, not borrow it from someone else. What worries me though, is a spent more on a friggin' TRACTOR, than I did on ANY of the vehicles I have driven in my life..... Makes me REAL curious where my priorities are. :D That said, I really don't expect our government to change. No reason to yet at this point. But, when the time comes, that they can't borrow/print/steal any more money, it is already going to be WAY to late to salvage our economy.
  9. I certainly won't argue with that logic. I remember back at the beginning seeing a post suggesting the person would sue, but more than likely that was internet bluster. Still, some people get pissy about their rights and all it takes is one person with a righteous attitude and money to spare. That person sure as hell isn't me, though. Yeah, I think one of the requirements for mod authors is "Poor as a churchmouse." :D
  10. Yeah, collections, just like mods, are going to be 'self-policing'. I.E. The users are going to test them, and if there are problems, hopefully they will comment on them. Just like they do with mods. (well, maybe not just like....) Folks that put out shoddy work, will get a reputation for that, and they just won't get many downloads. Folks that put out quality work, will. If the potential list user doesn't read the description/comments, and download a totally broken list, they have only themselves to blame. (but, they won't, they will blame EVERYONE else.....) After all, lists are 'perfect', are they not?
  11. The idea that Robin doesn't have a lawyer versed in internet law and privacy to run all this by is laughable. As is the idea that non-lawyers would understand it well enough to contradict said lawyer. And yet, there have been famous court cases fought and lost on the very same issues I'm talking about. Companies with whole teams of lawyers screw up, don't consult their lawyers, their lawyers are wrong, and so forth. I don't pretend for a moment that I'm 100% right, but sometimes, even armchair quarterbacks can see when the real quarterback messed up. Robin consulted his lawyer, I can assure you of that. Thing is, yes, these cases are determine on an individual (case by case) level. Unless/Until someone takes it to court, the rules, as they are, stand. I don't see anyone taking this to that level over free mods..... Do you have your Golden Ticket? Man, we are WAY off topic here...... :D Actually, we aren't off topic at all. Both of us have been around since the MW Chronicles..... we have perspective..... or we are just old...... I prefer 'experienced'. :D
  12. Do you have your Golden Ticket? Man, we are WAY off topic here...... :D
  13. Everyone love Sylvester Stallone. Right? :D
  14. Am I the only one on the planet who has actual on-my-hard drive copies of mods I use? The last person who clicks on the Download Manually button? We humans are in danger of losing the ability to use our left click finger if that one extra click is the deal breaker. You are not the only one. :D I think I still have almost every mod that I have downloaded, since oblivion. Both on a drive in my machine, and also backed up on my NAS. :D An army of two ... we shall take over the world eh Hey? Army of four............ Army of 5. Technically a squad now, I think, but we can build from here. XD Apparently, we are "The Expendables"...... :D Are you trying to make me spit water on my screen? Because I spit water on my screen. *shakes fist* It was time to clean it anyway. :D  Edit: @HeyYou - did you specifically mention that due to our ages (no, I'm not exactly young myself anymore)? :) I figgered there would be a fair few that would recognize that. :D
  15. You've even been archiving old mod pages behind our backs as well, which became clear when I was notified that Dark0ne had "archived" mods I "deleted" more than a year ago while he was deleting my files. The files had presumably been deleted with only the mod page left, but I honestly don't know if I trust that this is the case anymore, or whether you've even lived up to my request for a full deletion now. Right now I can still see my own mod pages in my download history, but I no longer have access to them. They still have images, a full log of actions that I took on it, as well as my name on it. I can even see how many endorsements I used to have via the API. Why was this data not deleted? You should have at least deleted the images (which are also my property), and the sensitive parts such as my username and full logs, and severed the connection to my account. And if your intent was only to delete the files, you should have left me in control of my mod page to manage the content that was left. There's no transparency in this process whatsoever and I have no idea what to think or feel, other than a sense of confusion and betrayal. This. I have the same thing happening to my mods. Still there, images and all. It's very cute. Also very cute, is how I will not support those mods in any way. Enjoy the fun if you (Nexus) put them in packs. Also, cute to link GMAD threads to people that you (Nexus) took the access from because "no popular titty mods" published. Yeah, staff seems to make a habit of linking discussions (where they should be continued....) to closed threads, or threads we can't access. That's just oh-so-helpful...... What is really happening is, they are attempting to do damage control, and limit airing their dirty laundry in public. I had seriously considered making a mod that ALL it does is, give women larger breasts. I should have 1000 downloads before the end of the day. :D

  17. It lends clarity to just whom we are responding to. Simple as that.
  18. Why would you rename the executable??
  19. NMM has some files stashed around as well, that details what mods are installed, what options you chose, etc. If it doesn't find those files, then it assumes you are a 'fresh' install. No idea where it keeps that data though.
  20. There are mods that do that..... :D Homemaker has pre-war houses, but, I don't think they are nav-meshed. Other mods restore some places, but, I think you find them in restored condition.....
  21. Who was the author? Any of their other mods still up?

  23. And that has been an issue since mods first became a thing. Those complaints have also been coming from users. I haven't seen a single list curator complaining that every time a mod updates, they need to update their list. (which is what should be happening anyway. the updates, not the complaining.)

Trouble is, we are headed in that direction. We have a SERIOUSLY stratified society at the moment, and the gap between the haves, and the have-nots, grows wider every year. Then we have the western states competing for water... and the likelihood that it is only going to get worse. And within that, we have farmers that have already been told they aren't going to be getting their irrigation water..... Then we have the racial tensions that are only increasing.... Civil war doesn't necessarily have to be something that is 'planned' either. It doesn't have to be some conspiracy of any sort. It could just be the result of a series of decisions by various parties that escalate a situation, and it simply gets out of hand.... There is a LOT going on here, and a fair bit of ain't good. Of course, if the economy improves, the pandemic subsides, we may dodge that particular bullet, for a while..... Until the next major crisis comes about. And you know it will. But then, maybe economic collapse is the more likely scenario? The government can't keep spending money they don't have before folks figure out that they are not EVER going to see their money back. That would certainly be interesting..... (and I hope I don't live to see it.....) Of course, China could make a couple financial moves, and totally tank our economy. They don't have the motivation to do so, as yet.... but, there may come a time when removing us as a world power, is more advantageous to them, than having us as a trade partner..... The government has been printing money so long that people can not even notice the affect of it anymore. Everyone doesn't understand what debt means and how it affects them. Imagine working at McDonalds and being able to support a family with one pay check living well off. That use to be possible not because of artificial minimum wage but because of the power of the currency. The more money the government spends the less you earn. Maybe if you were in management at McDonalds...... for the rest of the staff, Macs' were meant to be entry-level jobs, for teenagers, to get some job experience, and see what 'work life' is all about. Those jobs were NEVER meant to support a family...... As for our government...... :) If I ran my household the way our government runs their budget, I would have been in prison YEARS ago. :D
  25. No other site seems to have an issue with it. Wabbajack has been around for a while now, and been dealing with it, and I haven't heard a single complaint about curators needing to update their lists when mods get updated.
