Right. He never made a single dollar on his own. He got it all from mommy and daddy, all handed to him on a silver spoon. He never made any of his own deals, even after his parents were gone..... I really don't see the point of arguing this with you, you have your views, I have mine. Neither of us is going to change the others mind. So, you go right ahead, believe whatever you want. The fact remains, Hilary lost. Trump won. End of story.

Yes, I do. Clinton thinks that because of who she is, she can do whatever she wants, regardless of laws. She knows that she can pretty much get away with murder. As Secretary of State, she left an american ambassador hanging out in the wind, when she knew for a fact that the 'demonstrations' weren't because of some cartoon published months earlier. The entire Benghazi trip was ill-advised, yet, she sent him anyway. She basically killed him thru her inaction, and not wanting her 'reputation' sullied by a terrorist attack on 'her watch'....... I seriously doubt trump is a 'pathological liar'.... He didn't get where he is today by lying to everyone he meets. (just some of them..... like any other politician.)

Oh, wait, what? I person running for elected office LIED???? Say it ain't so....... Hilary had her fair share of lies as well. Attributing the Donald's win to "very closed off belief system...." etc, and ignoring that the american people are just flat out tired of business as usual in washington, displays your bias quite well. A pretty significant percentage of folks voted for Trump, because he was NOT Hilary.

And Trump isn't the first person to NOT win the popular vote, yet still win the election. This has happened several times in the past.

Well, lets see, if producing products in china, makes them more expensive than producing them here at home, then perhaps those companies will be motivated to bring those production jobs back to the states, where they will actually make more profit, and the folks they want to sell their products to will have jobs, so they can actually afford said products.

Our government is controlled by 'special interests', mainly, the military-industrial complex, closely followed by corporate america in general. They decide who runs, they also tend to decide who wins. Trump was a wild card, not a member of the political establishment, pretty much paid for his own campaign, therefore, beholden to no one... THAT is why he got elected. America is simply tired of 'business as usual' in DC. For the last couple decades, what party was in control made little, if any, difference, the policies were all pretty much the same.

Trump has no interest in starting a war with anyone. That was Hilarys idea, with her "no fly zone" in Syria. What I see as 'reactionary stupidity' is all the demonstrations by the disappointed dems, that were told by the media that their candidate had won, long before voting even started. Imagine their surprise when Trump wins by a significant margin..... Of course the 'other side' cheated, or, I know, the Russians did it! Yeah, that's it. The Russians made sure Trump won, because he wants to start war with them. Right. Uh huh. That makes perfect sense.........

Thing is, we could cover the cost of the fence by NOT paying Iraq 10 billion dollars per year to hate us......... (along with a host of other countries we send money to, for no good reason......) Not to mention that costs on a government contract are NEVER within budget. I don't remember the last time (first time?) a government contract came in with a final cost anywhere near what was originally predicted. Generally, a good rule of thumb is: Take what they quote you, triple it, and you MIGHT be close. That really needs to change too..... Only the government is so flexible on their contracts. Not one other legal entity would let folks get away with that kind of stupidity. Getting mexico to pay for it is a pipe dream, that will never happen. Mexico doesn't want it....... How about we start spending some of the money we just give away on projects right here at home? Why are we rebuilding other countries infrastructure, when our own is in such deplorable condition?

Yep, people die crossing the border illegally. A fair bit of it is desert, so, it shouldn't really come as a surprise. A goodly percentage of those areas are rather remote as well, so, they aren't really patrolled effectively, as mother nature has already put up a pretty serious obstacle. Desperate folk will do desperate things though, and will attempt to cross in those areas, with easily predictable results. I don't see that as "our" problem. They are committing a criminal act, and can suffer the consequences thereof. Would a fence, and patrols, reduce that? Pretty good chance it would. As for illegals doing jobs that americans 'won't'.... That's only partially true, there are a fair few LEGAL immigrants doing the same job. There are also illegals doing jobs that americans actually want... (construction, etc,) The companies hire the illegals because they will work cheaper, and off the books. Which means more profit for the company. And there really aren't any drawbacks to doing it, as even if you are caught, nothing really happens. We need to start enforcing the laws that are already on the books, and stop rewarding folks for illegal acts. If you are here illegally, there should be NO welfare, medicaid, foodstamps, drivers license, subsidized housing, etc. If your first act in coming to this country is entering illegally, the ONLY thing you should get is a bus ticket back to where you came from.

I'm sorry but that doesn't add up. Under the ACA I was able to get my girlfriend insured last year through medicaid. She had developed a disability, is 100% covered, and pays $0. It's great. Same with my sister who had breast cancer and is on medicaid. I myself purchase health insurance through my work for about $60 a month on an HMO. I have a $20 visit copay, $500 hospital copay and 100% coverage on preventative care. It's not perfect but it's ok. So I'm sorry, I'm just not buying your ACA horror story. It's helped everyone I know. I'm not saying the ACA is perfect or a god send, but I'm saying it was a step in the right direction and literally made 10 million people's lives better than it was pre-ACA. I agree there is a better solution. In this nation we provide police, fire, military and schooling to all our citizens for their tax contributions. It's time we extend that to healthcare. We need a single payer system that provides for everyone. It's ridiculous that we are the only major country that does not do this and have one foot left in the 20th century until we do so. You can believe me or not. I have zero reason to lie here. I report the facts as they are told to me, directly from others (and my own) experience. I have MS. I am considered 100% disabled by the government/social security, yet they STILL want me to pay near 200 bucks a month for medicare part D. That is most certainly a fact. Why it is different for me, than it is for you? I haven't the faintest idea........ It is, after all, our government......... -
Ain't that the truth. :) Fence, wall, whatever. The idea is to make it more difficult for illegals to come into the country. Just walking across some line on a map isn't really much of a deterrent. A fence will help, especially if it is monitored. (sensors, cameras, whathaveyou, and then people to respond to alarms......) We only had a fence around our weapons storage area when I was in the service. And we had a pretty good sized collection of nuclear weapons behind it. Of course it was monitored/patrolled 24/7/365, and the border fence should be as well. Maybe have some of those troops we will be bringing home to keep track of it.

Many of his statements were in direct response to Hillary's comment that was made in regard to WV. Also in several speeches he mentions West Virginia directly. Even if he were speaking to coal in general, that dog won't hunt either. I didn't watch the debates, or, any of the political coverage on the boob toob for that matter...... I already knew that I did NOT want HIlary as pres..... so, it just didn't matter. :) So, probably not as well informed as I could be. :D

I find fascists offensive and that's what these people are, they want to tell me what I can say, what I can think, they're racist, they're sexist and will quite happily engage in homophobic attacks if their target holds a different opinion to them, in fact they're all the things they claim others are, if there's one thing the left is good at it's projecting. These people aren't campaigning for social justice, they're campaigning to force their agenda onto other people, they're self serving hypocrites. Jim, who are "these" people? Is there an official SJW political party I'm unfamiliar with? Or are these just further hyperbolic statements projected onto an imaginary adversary to promote your worldview? I would point out, that the ACA did more to screw up insurance coverage, than it did to help anyone. Rates have skyrocketed with the enactment of the ACA, and folks are now given a choice of paying for their healthcare coverage, or buying food. I have real issues with the government REQUIRING me to purchase a product from a private industry. Except 10 million people who now have coverage that didn't before, and anyone 19-26 years old, and anyone with an existing condition... so um, yeah it did help lots of people. The individual mandate has problems but we are a lot better off post ACA then before... and by we I mean millions of Americans who couldn't afford health care and now can. I haven't met any of these folks choosing between healthcare and food. Where are they and why aren't they buying insurance on their state's market which generally offers very reasonable rates? 10 million more people have 'coverage'. Technically, yes, they are insured, however, the deductibles, exclusions, and various other nonsense makes it the rough equivalent of not having insurance at all. And yes, I know of a selection of folks around here that now technically have insurance, but, it is useless to them on a day to day basis. If they have some catastrophic injury/condition, then MAYBE it will help them...... The breast cancer survivor I used to live next door to was forced to change providers, and the new provider wouldn't cover even half of what her original provider did, and her rates tripled...... The ACA is the DIRECT cause of that result. There IS a better solution, and it doesn't required 2500 plus pages of legalese to implement. -
I think Donald was talking about coal in general, not WV specifically. After all, WV is not the only state that produces coal......

Basically, I think the american public was tired of the 'business as usual' thing going on in DC, regardless of which party was in charge. Trump is an outsider, with no real political affiliations...... He has ideas that a pretty good percentage of americans agree with.... Hilary, not so much. She was just another one of the political elite, and promised the same agenda as Obama. Her idea of a 'no-fly zone' in Syria would pretty much guarantee a confrontation with Russia...... I am thinkin' they would be somewhat less than impressed if we shot down one of their aircraft.......
-
Well I'm just so glad it wasn't Hillary , her desire for a no fly zone over Syria and her eagerness to go at Iran was extremely troubling . Figured if she won it was 90/10 WW3 was likely to happen , with Trump figure its 50/50 and thats not because of him , its the neo-con types that seem to be lining up to become part of his administration that worry me. Still dont think we are out of the woods on Syria. People still dont seem to understand just how dangerous that situation is . In the Cuban Missile Crisis you had 2 sides clearly delineated in who wanted what and it was an easily defined and contained locale . Syria on the other hand is fluid with many competing interests doing their own thing. In this you have anywhere from 8 - 12 actors involved, any of which could do something to trigger others to make much more consequential decisions , creating a cascade of events that could trigger a world war. And that is one of the main reasons I think we should be working WITH the Russians, in support of Assad. He may be distasteful, but, he is a known quantity..... Deposing him, and then having a bunch of competing factions vying for power in Syria would make it look just like Iraq after we 'won'.... Or Libya, or Yemen.... Just what we DO NOT need in that region.
-
Yeah, its rather dumbfounding how stupid our government/military appear to be. They keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results...... Of course, the results are always the same, utter catastrophe for the people we are trying to 'help'....... The 'average' american can see that the current policies are unworkable, unfortunately, our government seems blind to that fact. Do I expect this to change? Nope. Well, not until January at any rate... Maybe trump will have some better ideas on this score.....
-
And one of the first things the donald wants to do, is implement term limits for congress. :) I really don't have a problem with that.

I know too many people that used to get their health coverage thru work, that were forced to seek coverage elsewhere, when their employers decided to end their health care coverage. Of course, paying individual rates, instead of 'collective' rates, was significantly more expensive. Others, that got their health care thru work, via union contract, saw their rates triple, in under a year, and coverage decrease..... The government wanted to charge me about 200 bucks a month for medicare part D....... something that I got for free before the ACA...... which represented 20% of my income....... not exactly something I could afford. Fortunately, I dodged that bullet due to having veterans health care..... Without that, I would have been homeless...... -

I'm an American, and I completely agree with you. I wish I could explain why my countrymen are so god damn backwards, but I honestly don't understand them. Hopefully in a few years I won't have to count myself among them. They're ignorant and proud, to put it simply. Greatest country in the world supposedly but very much interested in not learning from other countries. I always liked to think the USA would eventually be the sum of all human progress, but with a Trump presidency I don't have any optimism left anymore. The Great American Experiment has failed, we are far less than the countries of our origin are today. That's been the case for a couple decades now. We have been going downhill since pretty much the late 90's. (maybe even the 80's, with Ronnies 'trickle-down' economics....) The middle class is disappearing, our moral compass has no direction, 'politically correct' is more important than the truth, etc. And we continue down this path at an ever increasing pace. No, we are not a great country. Simply a country with the most powerful military.
-
In the US, it is more important to assign blame, than it is to actually solve the problem. This has been the case for decades. After all, if you solve a problem, you can't milk it for millions in government dollars any more.
-
I didn't say that it shouldn't be allowed. But, people will be people. They will abuse the system. They always have and always will. Just like people pissing on themselves because someone has a different of opinion then they have.(this isn't pointed at you in anyway) I believe that medicinal use of things like pot is acceptable. I do have my pot card. But, come on. Recreational use? Really? It's going to get abused. Especially by the teenagers. By this logic, tobacco should be illegal, as well as alcohol. We tried it once with alcohol, it did not turn out as expected. In all reality, if we STOP spending millions, if not billions.... on policing, prosecuting, and incarcerating folks for pot, it is going to save us a HUGE pile of money. Not to mention the tax revenues that will come from LEGAL sales, a market that so far, the government hasn't been able to tap.

Well, that was fun. Should be interesting to see what happens in the coming year or so. Trump disagrees with so many of Obama's policies, and executive actions, I suspect that 99% of them are going to be reversed...... Which won't really hurt my feelings. As the republicans will have majorities in both the house, and the senate....... they will be able to push thru whatever policies they care to. Not necessarily a good thing......
