Hi all, Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but thought I'd post in case anyone might find this thread as their solution. CK is failing to start a lot for me since the 1.10 update, and the reason why it would seem is because clicking into CK icon opens another instance of Bethesda Launcher. The fix is to go to task manager and End Task on at least one of the processes and then relaunch from CK. I've already reinstalled the lot and the problem persists so I conclude that it's a bug with the launcher right now.

Well the process for creating a precalc patch is really convoluted now. Have to have a copy of the ESPs converted to ESMs temporarily so I can change the masters to the ESPs in xEdit after I've done generating. I'm not sure if ESL is exactly like ESM, I can save directly as an ESL? I'd like to see if I can just rename an ESL to ESP and add my/convert my ESP masters..
-
So given this info, you technically can't use the ESL files in place of a true merged mod because there is no way to keep it patched. And you really wanna hope a mod in question doesn't conflict with your load order. To summarise, you'd have an order of ESMs, ESLs and the ESPs. If the ESLs behave as ESMs, I wonder if you can slave them to anything at all? I'll have to check if you can convert ESP to ESM and then to ESL. Seems like a missed opportunity to have unlimited small mods...

Need help with pipboy lighting "glitch" ?
SMB92 replied to happyshakra's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Going against my religion and reviving this. I've just started playing the game again, well by playing I mean actually playing and not testing my mod. So this issue still persists without the dynamic shadows option. It also seem to occur at a radius around the same of which you would normally see that circle around the player during fog. I'm wondering if these are somehow linked. Anyway, revived in case someone who knows the answer spots this thread. Gonna dig for some ini settings. -
We were getting close, but then we discovered massive limits in Creation Engine's "Papyrus" script engine mentioned earlier. I have put out a more realistic time frame of December, because my patience has run thin. I am getting a lot of help and support though, for that I am very grateful.

You'd be completely forgiven for that. I think a lot people started to see this as a positive thing the same way you did, but we all should of known better because this is Zenimax/Bethesda. They can't get their games quite right, how can they get anything else quite right. All this is is a Zionist's Inquisition on console owners. -
CC Beta update downloading all content BA2 files
SMB92 replied to SMB92's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
The console and mobile market will destroy this concept in essence. They will continue to flout this experience, but for those on the cosole, that is going to come at a severe premium. I am just hoping that the next ES doesn't look like ESO. OR Fallout for that matter. That's if I'm still playing by then, if I haven't given up in disgust. -

PC is the master race for a reason beyond that of superior compute performance. Most of us are much wiser and won't buy into the garbage. You invest in a good machine, it should serve you well longer than a console. Bethesda aren't the only ones cornering the lower end market, a market of casuals and those with less money to splurge or even children with consoles in general, by taking them to the bank with the price of their content and games on those lessor platforms. They don't know what they've missed or missing. Who in their right mind would pay $80 for F4 now from XLive or PS Store, when you can get it for PC on Steam for half that and have a much much nicer experience than any console is ever gonna give you? It's a damn straight con. We here may forget that sometimes, sitting on the PC side of the fence. It's only gonna get worse now because they want to bring the success of mobile platforms to the consoles. You can't blame them for that in itself, when Candy Crush outsells AAA titles, but we will continue to see our platform littered with this garbage, it is the way of the future. All we can do as consumers is stand against the practice and not buy into it, but tell that to the severely gimped PS4 users. They've been playing a psychological game for some time now Bethesda, their marketing department ain't dumb, and neither is Zenimax. -

They haven't done anything as of yet. The problem only starts to be one if their next game is geared at using that model right from the start, thereby preventing free modding for good. But that's also the time when I no longer will buy Bethesda. I hate microtransactions with a vengeance and I won't support any SP model resorting to offering them. I think I'm with you on that. I just get more and more turned off by the minute. I think it is clear what they are doing though, and the little "taste" of a beta they have put up to test the pricing will tell how to concrete their business model. I'd be very interested to see the sales numbers on the consoles -

It probably would be, but I think they would try to get such a mod removed anyway. Bethesda will most certainly have more money for lawyers than Nexus. Zenimax is a fat cash cow that will go to no end to see a dollar be made. Look how they tried to sue Oculus for $4 Billion. That's semi-justified but they took it "way over the hill". Look at this rubbish they calling CC. Absolute trash. Cash grabbing the console players, particularly PS4 players, and treating the platform base as if it was as dumb as mobile users. Maybe they are if they paying it, I seen the prices on my mostly untouced XBone S a few days ago, I wouldn't pay what they asking for some of them games which I can get through Steam at a much better price, and have ability to mod and up the gfx settings etc. So maybe they on to something there. It is clear that it's no longer about the passion of making the games anymore, it's about the sheer cash grab to be made. This is what devastates me as a hard fan of their games. I want to believe the next game will be so much better. But I keep getting let down in one way or another every game that passes. They are great games, but so much bugs and half-baking here and there that it kills me. This will be the final nail. Their fan base was seeded on the PC, now they giving us the finger in essence and going elsewhere. Bethesda is the Ishtar of gaming companies. -
CC Beta update downloading all content BA2 files
SMB92 replied to SMB92's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Well I'm not sure how, it's English, I do have a pretty modded UI setup, have seen something like this before when Beth.Net was updated once. Real funny anyway. Heart goes out to all the PS4 players that'll be paying this ludicrous dollars to get contents, what I way to shaft your fan base. -

I just don't know how more they can botch this. Ethreon is right, we have the resources, we can make them into mods should we wish. It's laughable to say the least. -
Haven't heard of this before. Are you able to show me a screen shot of what this looks like exactly? These settings in FalloutPrefs.ini are for the screen size: uPipboyTargetHeight=700uPipboyTargetWidth=876 IIRC, there was a way to do it in game, but I have not done it in forever. Maybe someone will come by and remind me :D

I'm disappointed that the authors are not mentioned for each file. I would have liked to of known where it came from and authors should be credited. I'm also wondering if this huge price they are asking for credits is just gonna be for the time being as a cash grab, before backlash kicks in. I also wonder if this is a serious "F U" to it's users/fans for the first paid mods debacle, charging this price. I think it is also obvious that they are seeing the success of their mobile platforms micro DLC and trying to apply it here. I sincerely hope it backfires. -

ROFL Theres $ signs in front of everything! Bwahahaha how very fitting -
So I've just taken noticed by peaking in the Steam downloading folder, it is downloading all the BA2 files for all the currently available mods on CC. Guess I won't be paying $5 for power armor paint after all! But apart from that, I see some updates been made to some of the vanilla BA2s. Wonder whats inside? EDIT: Take notice of the number system of these mods. Clearly there are some missing off this "list". Interesting to say the least. Alternate paints perhaps? XD

And is is looking like micro DLC garabge!!! How did we not see this coming! :wallbash: :wallbash: There will be gems among this no doubt, so credit where it's due. I think the whole ESL extension update revealed where it's at in regard to large scale works, I'll be interested to see if anything ever pops up. But as it stands, Bethesda has pretty much just trumped EA in my mind. -
Just wanted to address a few points here, F4SE isn't gonna do anything for us at this point, so you can rule that out. Compatibility is paramount so I won't be making any change to vanilla values unless it is absolutely imperative, we will be making the mod an ESM file as to combat conflicts with precalc in cell references and also possibly including adding "protected" status permanently to important NPCs so they aren't killed by the mobs. The silver lining is that with the coming refactor, it will allow the mod to be more flexible in what other mod can do with it, as in other modders could simply use some templated data to use spawns for their own "regions" etc. We haven't 100% worked this out yet, but it is of fair importance to the mod. Thanks for support all, work will continue slowly until I find both the time and motivation to spend long sessions on it. BTW on another note, heard the news on CC today, what a pile of garbage thats looking to be. On that note, Once the mod is 100% complete and I am happy with it, I will be making it OPEN SOURCE. It had become subject of talks whether this mod may end up on CC etc, but rest assured this will not be the case.

Bad news folks. We ran a large scale beta test last night and it has now been realised that there is a significant, undocumented, limitation in the game engine regarding numbers of properties you can have on one script. This has now lead to a proposed rewrite of the current code into lots of smaller codes and stuffery. Due to the way I had so many varieties of actors and lists of them, the script literally started booting them out of the script, not filling properties at runtime, etc. Otherwise the mod worked fine. I will also be moving the mods in game menu to a holotape format. I do not like the holotape menu because I think they are clunky as hell, but they are less limited in what they can display. A lot less. So as a result of said found limitations, the mod will now undergo a rewrite. I am going to go ahead and say that I estimate the beta release Window to be around Christmas time. Simply because I have run out of patience tyo be devoting all my time to the mod, I will now be working on it less than before. In otherwords I will be taking my time. Anyone who was banking on this mod for the continued playing of F4, I would suggest you look at other games for the time being, or continue to use WOTC in your current game. Had this limitation been documented and known, it would have been avoided from the start. So in short it can't be helped now, please be patient.

Every time I've made patches for mods, regardless of content being vanilla or not, if a mod hasn't been a master when making the patch, it fills with orphaned records for the generation. But as said, I have not tried setting the master afterwards in xEdit (or at least I don't remember trying.)

I have not tried to make a precalc generation patch and then setting the master afterwards (after the damage is done in CK). This has worked for other projects however, I'm not sure if it can apply here?

This is getting broken into 2 system. Vertical Spawns and Snipers. Snipers will go in locations where its not feasible to be spawning groups. Vertical will go on you highway tops etc. @Sopmac - the list above is just the systems list, it does not include any settings or functions of the script.

New file plugin ESL for Creation Kit (255 mod limit removed)
SMB92 replied to N7R's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm worried about the current breakage of esp files flagged as masters. Apparently this leads to corrupt files. This us real bad news when making precalc patches. I willing to wager they increased the form limit so you could buy tonnes of mods without limit worry. Disappointed that it came down to monetizing mods for them to lift the limit, but so be it. (Don't misinterpret this, I'm not here to talk about CC as a whole.)- 37 replies

Folks, I've been informed from a reliable source that a new update to the CK to support some ESL format has broken the ability to flag ESP files as a master, therefore making any precoms patches will be useless as apparently you will end up with corrupted files. I am not sure if at this stage you can rename the extension to ESM to get around this. Idk anything else for that matter, but I will update if I find out anything more. This would be about the last ass-f'ing I'd be willing to take from Beth if this problem doesn't get resolved. I've already decided to drop all my cell-editing mod just to keep performance, losing the ability to patch would make me want to move on to other games.
