Mod authors aren’t digging into computers and deleting mod files. Nothing is being taken away. If a mod author wants to stop publishing their work then that is their right to do so as the copyright holder just as it is the right of Dr. Seuss Enterprises to stop publication of some of their books.

 

Same as I said in the above comment. But would like to add that just because someone has the right to do something, doesn't mean they should. Nor does one person's right to do it, take away the right of others to be irritated or upset by it or view it as wrong. I am just pointing out why people may feel the way they do toward some mod authors and past events that have occured. And a reminder, I am talking about past events here, and not myself. Personally, I don't really care if an author takes away their mod.

 

But my own view is .. I wouldn't do it.

It's interesting this is still going on. I would think those who disagree would have just moved on by now and left instead of constantly arguing back and forth over something that clearly isn't going to change. Just a minority of people in a bubble who can't accept change, and just want to continually argue about it because they think they couldn't possibly be wrong. Think it's some kind of knightly crusade they are on to free people from the evils of this world, or bring truth. To battle the oppressor.

 

 

Just THIS! 2 weeks ago Bunny came in here with this entrance....this was more than 50 pages ago....its pathetic. Just saying! I would think those who disagree with us would have just moved on by now and left instead arguing back and forth over something that clearly isn't going to change. I mean, really, there once was some guy who used mods and then he didn't anymore. But then, wouldn't you know, other people used mods. And to make it more interesting, some folks even made mods. Isn't that cool? ;)

Perhaps instead of thinking like small children and assuming everything shared with them is theirs to keep now, people should understand that modders are sharing their work, not giving it away.

If you're given something, you own it, and should be rightfully miffed if the person who gave it to you then takes it back. But users don't own mods, they're using what has been shared with them by people who put in a lot of work making what's being shared. And as with anything else being shared, if the owner decides sharing time is over, it's their right to put away what was shared without those it was shared with throwing tantrums and calling names.

Riggghhhtttt.....so the owners of the Dr. Seuss books were not allowed by your definition to pull the books they did? Because 'Don't ever give if you ever plan to take it away.' Pfff. Guess what? I never planned to take them away from this platform. It was kinda forced on me. Also, my mods are available. Just not here. All ya wanna do is argue.

I think it's become quite obvious Brabbit believes Nexus to be the only modding site on the entire internet, because it's clear they think if it's not here, it's been taken away from the world.

 

This is the kind of dangerous monopolistic thinking that's led us all here to this point. It's too bad Brabbit will never understand that letting one site gain such a monopolistic positions is BAD for the community in the end.
