Malevolution
Again: this is the only software title I have used in my forty-seven years on this earth that not only has a problem with being granted administrative privileges, but states so while excoriating the user for treating it as though it were created by adults. Just fix the damn software. Failing that, just tell me how I can run it with non-administrative privileges so I can baby this title into utility. It's that simple. I know; it's easier to insult the user. But in my dozen plus years in software development, this is a "fireable" approach. You don't insult the user for your developmental incompetence. FFS, there isn't even a workaround!
Malevolution
what is it, exactly, you want "fixing"? Bro. Read the post. I'm not sure how I could make this more clear. Do you perhaps have a problem with English, or polysyllabic words? I'll enumerate this in an attempt to make the obvious clear to the developmentally disabled. VORTEX HAS A PROBLEM WITH BEING RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. NO OTHER SOFTWARE IN EXISTENCE HAS THIS PROBLEM. STOP MAKING EXCUSES, AND INSTEAD: FIX THIS.I can't make it simpler than this. I just can't. I'dd suggest you need to "fix" your understanding of why running anything as admin is a bad idea and then see how you go. Stop making excuses, sweetheart, and just fix the obviously broken software. I'm not going to repeat myself at length to a spastic who couldn't be bothered to read what I've already typed.
Malevolution
I don't care that dev can't fix the problem of their own making. I just want a workaround that will allow this crippled software to work properly when it is treated as an adult. There's a reason that UAC can be disabled, and is among the first things disabled in Windows by people who know what they're doing. I don't need to be saved from myself. Just fix the software instead of making accusations as to the user's intent. Failing that, a workaround for adults Thanks. Also, this post isn't "answered" except inasmuch it's been replied. showler
Dude, you're asking them to put a security hole into a software designed to be used by newbies as well as power users. If they do, someone is definitely going to accidentally enable it and screw up their computer. YOU are the one with a problem. NO ONE else is in here complaining about this. NO ONE. As I see it, you have two choices. Take a simple step to make it work as it is. Or go use someone else's free modding software. edit: after looking over some of your posts and the tone/language you've adopted, I begin to suspect this issue will be settled for you and you won't have to worry about using Nexus in the future. Zanderat
Just for laughs, I set Vortex as admin and ran it. I got the UAC asking permission which granted. Then I got a screen that said Vortex is not intended to ran as admin. Choices were cancel or ignore warning. I hit ignore. Vortex opened just fine. I deployed which went correctly. Since it ran fine, I am not sure what the OP's problem even is.

I'm not your "bro" - educate yourself on why running any software on any system is a bad idea "bro". There's nothing to fix with this, but as I said in my earlier post - you need to fix your understanding. "Bro".

Also, this post isn't "answered" except inasmuch it's been replied.if you disable UAC because "you know what you're doing" then, quite obviously, by that very act, you DO NOT know what you are doing. But its obvious you know better than Microsoft and any infosec expert out there, so you've got that going for you. I guess. However, as you seem to be that special snowflake type of user, for whom common sense and best practice don't matter, why don't you "stick it to the man" and run it as admin anyway, because it's your system and you don't need safety nets on your machine and no UAC pop up is going to tell you what to do. That'll show the developers both in Microsoft and Nexusmods and, well any other software you've got running on your wide open system that you're not someone to mess with. Still, my sage advice applies, if not to you then to anyone else who may be harbouring the same thoughts - educate yourself on why what you think is bad, is in fact, good. It'll serve you well in the future. No need for thanks, you're very welcome.
Guest deleted34304850
Also I will add, if you have no concept of system security, and why its there and what it does, you wouldn't get through the door in my company, let alone be allowed to sit for an interview. A dozen years as a developer? I simply don't believe you.Remember this, it's what I tell all my folks - any idiot can write code, there's no skill in that. it's writing good code that is the challenge. In 2023, good code adheres rigidly to system and company security policy. Time to skill up sweetheart.
Solution Pickysaurus Posted January 22, 2023 Solution Share Posted January 22, 2023 This topic has run it's course. In summary, we appreciate your point of view that you want to run Vortex as admin, however, this is not something that we agree is necessary or even recommended. If you're technically minded, you're welcome to fork Vortex and remove the admin prompt for your own means, but we won't provide any support with a "homebrew" version of the app. Edit: The user has now been banned.
