Pertaining mod:
2093 Radio Station - DELETED
From the mod description:
"This mod will %100 get taken down due to copyright reasons ...
This mod has all the songs from the album 2093 by Yeat replacing the Classical radio (Institute) with one single ..."

Not exactly humanity's best and brightest here.

We seem to get a lot of that around here.... What I always found really funny, was the folks that flatly stated they had a pirated version of the game, on Beth's official forums.... (back when they had forums....) Ya wanna talk about stoopit, there is the dictionary definition of it. 😄

It definitely makes me feel better about some of the life choices I've made.

Hello to the entire Nexus community. I'm French, new to the world of modding and I would like to share with the community a mod that I made for HELLDIVERS 2.

Basically, it replaces the in-game music with music from the Transformers movies.

My mod was removed by the moderation team due to copyright infringement and this is where I would like someone to explain to me as a newbie how it all works. It seems obvious to me that most people here don't own the copyright to most of the music they use for their audio mods.

My questions:
- why am I censored?
-did I forget to check a particular box?

PS:
I don't know if this is the right topic, if it isn't, please forgive me.

This is not the right topic! Nexus feedback would have probably been a better place so the moderators/admins are more likely to see it!

You can only use music if the rights holder has given permission.  YOU don't need to own it, but the person or company that does has to say it's okay.

This is precisely the question I ask myself and that I ask you here.

Do you honestly think that most audio mod creators, like the one who created STAR WARS MUSIC CONVERSION PACK for HELLDIVERS 2 for example, asked EA if it was "ok" to use their music?

Let me doubt it.

Many companies give blanket permission for game assets to be used in NON-COMMERCIAL mods.  That's why all the Witcher mods exist...the company made the permissions open as long as you don't do something really moronic with it.  EA does provide an email address where you can ask for permission.

Does that mod have such permission.  I don't know.  But either it does or else NOBODY BOTHERED TO REPORT IT TO NEXUS MODS.  They can't take action against mods they're not aware of and they have literally thousands of mods being uploaded every day.  They depend on community reports to find mods that violate the rules.

Since your mod got removed it met the two necessary criteria: you didn't provide proof of permission for the music and someone/something brought your mod to the attention of the moderators.

Remember this important rule:  Just because someone is getting away with breaking the rules (probably temporarily) that is NOT permission for you to break the rules.
