yeah but getting hired from modding is a rather unrealistic goal... i work in the industry for over 20 years and never heard of anyone but the falskaar guys and the valve mod to full price games people that actually got hired from modding.... and if you work in the industry you don't really have time to mod anymore so you would have to give up your passion for a rather unthankful job....

i think this is the best thing that could happen to us.... those who want to share their content for free can still do so on the workshop and nexus and various other sites....
those who want to make a living out of it have their chance now.... and that is what every gamer is hoping for.... people that are not restricted by publishers, deadlines etc etc modders can let their creativity go free and set a price they think is fair for it (yes they only get 25% but you should see what people in other industries get for their work...)

Boris (creator of ENB) has said he will never do this (with ENB binaries) and no one is allowed. You should believe him because believe me, he doesn't play with his words and always says what he means.

Will people sell presets? Probably and Boris has said that's allowed but it doesn't sound like a good idea and they better have good customer support skills.

It amazes me that the focus here is on how greedy the modders are... rather than how modders are being tricked into letting themselves and their work be exploited for someone else's gain.

The main problem to my eyes is that the modder community is based on something that is a kind of fair share logic.

I mean... we have people who make ressources and tool, we have people who make tutorial, who share idea, raise and merge concepts, make api and layers etc...
Beside the game itself and its assets, all that stuff is *required* for mod to be built.

What is the next move then.
Will we charge for tools, so modders will be able to sell their stuff?

I mean, it's an example, but you will get the idea:
I made a translator for skyrim which is widely used now for translating mod.
I made it for 2 reasons:
1) I like programming
2) and i wanted to use mods translated by other people with that tool.

This is what I call a fair share: I made my duty to the community. Sort of.

If money come in that "chain", I am not sure the balance will be maintained.

In the end, this will all depend on everyone in the community, to not be moronic narcissists.

People stealing content, ridiculous prices(which is understandable with Valve's greedy cut), etc.

The whole thing about supporting mod authors is allready available through donations, but thats only support and not stable income. For stable income i think a sort of, mod request system would be the best way for everyone getting a chance, but copyright and conflicts and come from this as well.

The biggest problem with this whole subject, is that Valve takes too much, and that needs to change.

I personally will not pay for any mod on steam, whilst Valve takes more then 20 percent. I don't know this needs more research.

Tease ppl with money and the ship will go down. My prediction: this community will split up. And thats the real shame. Not that some modders think they deserve monetary reward for their work. The fact that money destroys communities is proven once more. I hate it.
